I'm an idiot!!

I just went to ebay and found I had a new message. Well, when I opened it, I was informed that I had forgotten to pay for an item (Rhythmic step dvd) that I had won over a month ago. I swear this COMPLETELY slipped my mind. I hate when I forget things!!! Now there is a "mark" on my account and I suspect that I can't buy anything while that's there.
Anyway, I'm kinda glad I didn't buy it now that I've heard of some illegal bootlegs going around on ebay, but I'm so mad at myself for being so irresponsible!! Has anyone else gone through this? I emailed them and apologized and offered to make amends with the seller but I'm not even sure that can be done. The funny thing is that I really want this DVD, and in my mind, I was waiting for it to come off of backorder before I ordered it, even though I apparently had already won it!!! I truly forgot the entire thing! I feel like I need Napolean Dynamite here to tell me I'm an idiot!!
Just felt like I had to share!

Wow, I would just be so depressed about not getting the workout since that one has been on backorder forever!

no I cant say as I have ever forgotten to pay a seller on ebay cuz usually im so excited to get the item, I pay right away or that same night. If the seller is nice then you should stll be able to go through with the transaction w/o a problem. Im surprised you didnt get an email from the seller in a whole month!

LOL, on the Napoleon Dynamite thing! That is one of me and my kids' favorite movies right now!! "frickin' 12-guage, whaddya think? GOSH!"

I'm sorry that it went as far as getting a mark against your account. The seller should have at least sent you an invoice or a reminder within days of the auction closing to remind you. Shame on them that they didn't! If they had done that, then it probably wouldn't have ended up like this. Hey, forgetting to do something happens to everyone. Please don't beat yourself up about it. I'm sure the seller went off and sold the tape to someone else so it's not like he/she was left holding the bag.

I thought the seller was supposed to contact you within X amount of days of the auction ending with payment instructions. Did they not do that or contact you in any way before marking your account?

The buyer is directed towards a check out page, where they get info on final costs (including shipping) and where to send payment (as well as detailed payment instructions). Sometimes sellers send a personal message, sometimes not, but it's not "required."

As an Ebay seller, I'd have certainly contacted you after a couple of weeks had gone by without payment. How was the seller to know that you might have sent a payment that got lost in the mail? Though I wouldn't be giving you positive feedback (in a case like this, I just wouldn't post any feedback at all.)

Lunacat-
I'm not sure why the seller did not email me. It's strange because if I win an auction, I always pay right then. I'm still confused as to why this happened but seeing that I'd forgotten until today, I'm sure it's my fault. I swear, now that I'm in my 30's, I forget everything. And to think I always make fun of my DH for his terrible memory. I guess I'll just have to keep my mouth shut about the subject for awhile.;-)
