Hi,
I tried to post a response earlier, but apparently it disappeared...
By "pore", I assume you mean nipple.
Yes, it's normal. Galactorrhea occurs in about 10% of women (according to the fertility specialist I was seeing when I first noticed this).
Of course, I argued I did not know even one of these other women.
I noticed it about6 1/2 years ago when I was assessing how sore my breasts were (trying to get pregnant). I thought I must be pregnant, as I knew several women who began to leak milk early on. Turns out, it was just a sick joke. I was on no fertility drugs at the time.
I pretty much knew--and confirmed via research--that clear/cloudy/milky discharge, especially from both breasts, was no real cause for alarm. Blood/pus, pain or funky looking nipples/other areas of breast is usually a sign something's amiss.
Either way, you need to inform your ob/gyn.
I had a mammogram, which was fine then (I was 30), and again 5 years later. Galactorrhea can also be caused by elevated prolactin levels, which can impede your ability to conceive (like in a lactating mother). You should have a quick blood test to check that. Also, pituitary tumors--usually benign--can be the culprit of high prolactin as well. Another fertility guy sent me for a head MRI to rule this out. I was also put on meds to help decrease it (Dostinex), which did nothing.
It's always there, more so after a workout or hot shower (as with anyone who is lactating).
But, the less stimulation, the less I notice it. I really don't even think about it now.
So, definitely get it checked out, though it's more than likely no big deal.
Your fellow freak,
Michele
