If she only knew...

Today DH, DD and I took a bike ride over to my Dad's and step-mom's house. It's about a 5 mile ride one-way and I had DD's bike trailer on the back of my bike, which adds about a 55lb. pull with the combined weight of it and her. While we were getting ready to go home, my step-mother (who continually says clueless things), said something about how riding my bike was harder than the kind of exercise I do. Of course, I just let it go...but there's no WAY in He** I could have ridden there and back again with DD's trailer on the back without Cathe's workouts. And riding the bike wasn't as hard as say...IMAX.

It is just amazing to me that people pass judgments like these about workouts they have never seen or done! The classic "well, I know you work out to videos, but do you think that you can handle_____?" At that point, I usually just offer the chance for them to borrow one video so that they can see just how *easy* my workouts are }(

I'm stupified by this as well. It would be like me arguing the validity of some mathematical theory: I'd have no idea what I was talking about!

I think Stepmom should borrow one of Cathe's workouts (not even the toughest one, so you can later say "oh, that's one of her easier ones!")and see how "easy" it is!

I posted something like this the other day. A friend of mine came over to workout and screwed up her nose when she found out we were gonna do a video. And by the time she left she couldn't even put her coat on! I thought so much for screwing up your nose. I am willing to beat that it will only be a matter of time before she wants to get a loan of one or she will ask where I buy them from.
I hate to say that people are stupid....but when it comes to at home workouts, they really are!
Lori:)

I wouldn't say stupid (though some are, and not just about exercise videos!)but rather ignorant (meaning uninformed).

People really are clueless about the difficulty factor associated with home workout videos.

The other day a friend of mine (guy) was asking me what I could bench press. I have no idea, but told him that the heaviest I EVER go with my barbell is about 40-45 lbs. He kind of snickered and said, "Oh well, I can bench press 500 lbs!" (or some such number) I just looked at him and said, "I would bet you serious money you couldn't get through even ONE of my Cathe or Firm workouts."

I'll never have the opportunity to prove that I'm right, but it sure would be nice! }(

Especially since Stepmom doesn't do a lick of exercise past housework. She just is one of those people who constantly say stupid things without meaning to. She's kind of a...well...dip.

My father, on the other hand, exercises daily. I lent him my Core Max DVD and I'm having a hard time getting it back! He says that it takes him 2 days to recover after he does one of the workouts. He hasn't tried #3 because he doesn't have a medicine ball. Maybe I should buy him his own copy of CM and a medicine ball for Father's Day!

Hi Donna!!

What a wonderful present that would be for your Dad!! You're so thoughtful. As far as Stepmom goes, we all hear a lot of comments from people who have never even tried Cathe's videos, don't we? But hey, who is seeing all of the positive changes...US, RIGHT? We know better...:)

There are some people in the world who are just ditzy. They mean no harm, but when they speak, you never know what kind of ridiculous thing will come out. I have an aunt like that. Very sweet, but as dumb as they come. Some of the things she says would be offensive if we didn't know better. I'm just grateful that she's not related by blood, and that I don't share any genes with her. Sounds like you've got the same situation with your stepmom.

Yes, that's exactly it. Back when my brother and his wife separated, she told him that she knew it wouldn't last. What an awful thing to say!!! He was still in love with his wife, they were just needing a little break. Fortunately, my brother had learned to take her with a "grain of salt".

She told me yesterday that when she and my father went to visit at my daughter's preschool for Grandparent's Day, the head teacher told her that she could see the resemblance between her and my daughter. UGH! I'm sure Hannah was just trying to be nice, because my daughter doesn't look anything like that wrinkly old bat! hee hee. I'm just glad my DH didn't hear that. He can't stand the woman and doesn't even like our daughter calling her "Nonny". But...you can't have a 4 year old calling her by her first name either...
