So my Dh and I are sleeping this morning and the doorbell rings about 8:30 a.m. It was the mailman with the part we were waiting for. Unfortunately, by the time DH got out of bed, threw on some pants and ran downstairs, the mailman was driving away. Dh, jumped in the car and chased him down the road. He finally caught up with him and got our mail and the furnace igniter. Then poor DH spent the next 30 minutes reassembling the furnace. Everything was in place and he had me turn on the thermostat upstairs. I came down and we both stood back as he plugged the furnace in. I was sooo excited to have heat again after being without for a week. As soon as he plugged it in though, flames started shooting out of the furnace and DH had to run and unplug it. The new part basically exploded in the machine, so now we are igniter-less once again. We have no idea why that didn't work. DH even called a HVAC friend of ours who said it was an easy fix and should have worked. So now, we have to wait until Monday to get someone out to fix it - this is after paying for the new part and having it overnighted... ugh... Why couldn't DH have just called someone in the first place??? Even now, he is claiming it was a "faulty" part and he doesn't need someone to come out. sigh....
