Ideas for Vegas

Well...my favorite things in Vegas are:
-rollercoaster on the top of the Stratosphere
-helicopter tour of the strip
-the Hoover Dam
-"old" Vegas (north Vegas...it's so 1920's mobster!)
Other than that, I just like to walk the strip, eat at quality buffets, and play some cards!

Some of my favorite activities are sightseeing the big hotels on the Strip - especially the Luxor, the shopping areas at Caesar's Palace and the Venetian (all are visually spectacular). Being from New York and no longer living there, I love to go to the New York New York hotel and reminisce. And don't miss the Star Trek exhibit (a couple of blocks off the Strip) at the Hilton!

Some of my favorite things to do in Vegas:
1. Go to the Voodoo Lounge at the top of the Rio. Go early because if you go later they will hit you with a cover charge. It is so spectacular to watch the sunset and the lights of Vegas turn on. It is simply magical.
2. Go to the Paris and look at all the shops. There is a bar called the Nepolian (or something like that) during happy hour. They serve free sandwiches with drinks...helps soak things up
3. If you plan on visiting many casinos at one time, allow time because it will exhaust you. Some that you can hit in one morning: New York, New York, MGM, Monte Carlo, Excalibur, and the Luxor.
4. The best meal we had was at Prime located in the Bellagio. It was pricey but very good.
5. Don't forget to go to Caesar's Palace and visit the Forum Shops.
6. Old Vegas "Downtown" has a light show every evening under the huge canope. It's fun and free.
7. The Cirque Du Soleil shows are all very pricey but good. Some of the other shows offered are more reasonable, if your interested.
8. Of course there are the shows in front of Treasure Island and the water/light show in front of the Bellagio nightly.

I lived in Vegas for many years. Really great things to do are...Voodoo Lounge, Light at Bellagio, Steve Wynn's hotel. 4 seasons has a great afternoon tea, Green Valley Ranch in Henderson is a great place (a bit less pricey, but you'd never know it). Hoffbrau House (German) replica of one in Munich. Shows: Mama Mia (everyone loves it)O (a splurge, but it's amazing) Ka (another Cirque show, excellent). For "old" Vegas that is a lot less expensive, go down to the "old" strip...Some of it's rather cheesy, but it does give you perspective of what is out there.
NYNY is a lot of fun just to walk around. Paris has some great little shops, Bellagio is still great fun and they have a great section which they seasonally decorate...In the Spring they do a butterfly display with shooting water etc....They may still have the Monet collection as well.
Good eating at Olives at Bellagio..>Butternut squash is to die for. At Paris Moni Ami Gabi is a great outside dining place/Lemon chicken and Pomme Frittes are great...
So much to do....just ask your concierge for help....Have fun...I totally miss it out there

I love to just walk around all the casinos and forum shops. Have to see Belagio, Paris, NYNY, MGM, Venetian, and Mirage to see the tigers. I don't like Ceasars forum, they have redesigned it so you can't find your way out and its very annoying. Take a cab ride to RIO, they have a fun free mardi gras show. And the Palms across the street has a great tex-mex restaurant in the main lobby that is very reasonable.
I love to stand in the evening and just watch the fountains at Belagio.
O'sheas casino across the street from Ceasars has cheap drinks, and the imperial palace has cheap gambling.
All the big casinos have great buffets. I think the Mirage is probably the best for your money.
I would recommend the Blue Man Group as a good show.

I got married in Vegas 2 yrs ago at the Excalibur. Vegas is fun. And we didn't have a lot of money and had kids with us. A lot of hotels have free shows which are fun. The light show at Bellagio is great. Hoover dam was fun and there is little resteraunt on the water at Lake Mead which is inexpensive and nice. We also went to the valley of fire which was beautiful. Also the light show downtown is great.
My advice is it is easier to walk the strip then to ride in the car and it takes less time.
But whatever you do you will have blast.

Thanks to all for the great ideas. We're staying at the Stratosphere, so who knows, maybe we'll hit the roller coaster
I'm really looking forward to just people watching too and of course the food. I'll bring my workout gear and maybe reduce some of the damage. Thanks again.
