I was about to complain....

about feeling like a newbie and how much it stinks, but then I read lesliemarie's post and I realized that I should not be complaining at all. Maybe I am just looking for a little tiny bit of sympathy. I worked out FINALLY. For those of you who don't know I had a hysterectomy in late Sept, and got the go ahead after 6 weeks of no weights whatsoever. But I pulled a muscle in my back sneeezing(yes, I know how dumb, so I was good and waited a week or so. Well, boy oh boy now do I remember all those years ago when Cathe started kicking my butt. I did ME yesterday...real easy like and used half the weight I used pre hyst. I can barely move today, and I work a very physical job...standing, bending ALL DAY! Every move was soooo hard today. Do ya hafta get that kind of bagel...jeeze it is on the top shelf...my pecs are killing me!! Anyway, just had to share my pain...goes to show you just how hard we all work you forget how hard how tough our Cathe is!! Take care all, Donna.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. It started exactly a year ago when I hurt one of my hip flexors. I don't think I've had more than 1 straight month of workouts since then. Injuries, vacations that turned out not to be vacations, the flu, lethargy and depression due to the wrong birth control. Ridiculous! I'm not too upset, but it's frustrating. Last night I did Bodymax. Last year, it was a breeze!! Last night, I barely made it through the step section. It was easy choreography-wise; I just couldn't breathe :) But, thankfully, strength and endurance come back VERY quickly if you are consistent. I just wish my ^%$# hip flexor would be consistently healthy and work with me :) I wish you the best of luck!! Until then, stop selling bagels :D.

Donna,
I have had a couple of surguries myself, including a hysterectomy due to Cancer. You can get past it and after awhile you will never know that you had to lay off of exercise. You will be amazed how much more quickly you can get back to where you were when you had the surgury. They say muscles have memory. Most any time I have had to lay off for awhile, within a month I was back where I had left off.

Hi, Donna! I had my almost 15 year-old daughter by C-section but I still remember how horrible a sneeze was after that surgery! I was just reading Leslies's follow up post and she was saying she was sorry but she shouldn't be! And neither should you. These forums are a beautiful place to talk to women and get sympathy and encouragemnet and I think we should all do it more! Look at the ourpouring of support and love that comes to us when we ask for it. We just need to quit feeling guilty for needing it.

You hang in there, young lady! My favorite saying is "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." You have a demanding job and you have just had surgery so take things in small encrements. Even 15 or twenty minutes of gently modified cardio and stretching is a great beginning and if that's too much that's ok too. You'll get there! Diane Sue is absoultely right, once you've started building endurance and strength, they return more quickly than when you were a newbie. Listen to your body and we'll be happy to encourage you every step of the way!

Another adage I like is, "How do you eat and elephant? One bite at a time!

Big hugs to you!

Hi Bobbi. I'm sure this well let everyone know how horrible I am, if they haven't figured it out already. I read your first paragraph and thought "She had her 15-year old daughter by C-section. I reckon that's the only way they could get her out at that point." and "Wow. Already potty-trained and almost ready to leave home and get a job." You can throw the rotten tomatoes now if you like.

OK, I'll shutup now.

Hee, hee I am sure glad I had my two kids before their first birthday...eek! But seriously, all thank you....I know, a little at a time and before I know it, all will be well. After all, it is because I was in such great shape that this whole experience went sooo smoothly and I did not gain any weight during my 6 week "vacation". I did CTX kickbox last night, and while I was a tad out of breath I did the whole thing, along with the abs and I feel pretty good today....kinda scared of the next weight training session though. I really wanted to plunk in KPC....but I know I am NOT ready for that....Thanks again, Donna.

Sheesh, Mogambo, I shoulda said I had my daughter by c-section almost fifteen years ago! But I got a really good laugh when I read your take on my less than impeccable sentence! Snorted and everything! And if I'd known then what I know now about teenagers that last thought might not be such a bad idea! But can you imagine the stretch marks? I think your diabolically clever, not horrible!
