I want to join a check-in...

I've started working out more lately, and I want to join a check-in, but which one is best for me? Any suggestions? While I don't hate cardio, I do prefer weight training. The only thing I really hate is running, so I'm no cheetah. For many years I've been much better about eating healthy than exercising, but I'm having a reversal. Now I'm working out more and in the last month my eating has been a disaster. I've gained weight and, while I think I look okay, I cannot afford to buy a new wardrobe, so I've got to stop gaining soon. Have I confused you enough or do you want more?? :p
 
I don't know what check-ins are going on now, but if you can't find one you like, why not start one yourself?

One type of check-in I like is an "Every day in (month)" check-in (which I do on VF). Participants each do their own thing, and check in daily with what workout they did, or if it was a rest day. When I do it all-out 'workout everyday,' just to keep in the groove of things and be active in someway on a daily basis, I count 'lesser' forms of activity as a workout (a minimum of 3 sets of 20 reps of something, for example, or an hour of yard work). More recently, I have planned rest days, and even some 'TURDs' (totally-unplanned-rest-days, LOL!).
 
Hey nancy: you are welcome to join our checkin. It is called Monthly Checkin. We all just check in with each other to keep motivated and some of us do Cathe's monthly rotation and some do other rotations. It really doesn't matter. We just enjoy talking with each other..You are more than welcome to join us.. Take look at our daily threads and see if you would be interested..Hope to see you over there..
 
I agree with Kathy! Come join us at "August" check in! We get to talk about one of our favorite subjects: our workouts !! (and whatever else comes up) :)
 
Hey Nancy. For me the check in is one of my top motivators. I do the daily checkin. Everyone does their own thing - no pressure. Some of us are doing rotations and some just freelance. We're a small group and we talk about our lives as well as exercise. HTH! I think that anyone you choose might be just the kick in the pants that you need. ;)
 
Our melty thread is alot of fun..aka..we get kinda nasty sometimes :pand tend to rattle on about our fabulous lives which is quite entertaining, our melty group is a group of amazing gals, we have been going strong for gosh, has it been a year now??? We are all in "melty mode" well, most of the time, and are all serious about our workouts for sure, there is always room for more!:D
 
Ooooh oooohhh oooooh!! Pick me pick me! Come join the Melters thread! I'm not exactly "melting" right now...well, I'm certainly not trying hard enough to do so....but the ladies in this checkin have me LMAO all day long. I'm serious! Check us out! We'd LOVE to have you, dahling!

Me too Nancy and I'm not sure where to jump in. I did find one group but there are so many. I'm easily overwhlemed by choices though. :p

Count me in! I've wanted to join too but there are so many and I'm not sure what all of them are about. Is there an "every day" one like Kathryn mentioned where we post daily about our workouts... etc? That might be a good place to start.

Nancy, you know what?? Either it was Shelley or Robin that dubbed us the "melters"..you know "melting off the pounds and all?":D Or was it Shannon?? Gosh I cannot remember! But do I love this bunch of women, they are just precious to me, I think you will have a blast and fit right in!:)

We do discuss our daily workouts too, plus encourage each other after we "slip up" and well, I just cannot say enough good things about our little group, Alli just joined not too long ago and she is such a hoot and a holler, whatta sweetie!
 
I was thinking the same thing today about joining a check-in. There are lots of check-in threads and it is hard to figure out their meaning...or if there is any meaning:D. I have LOTS of weight to lose. I love to workout but don't do well with the whole eating well thing. Is there a big fat chick check-in:eek:?

Another vote for the Melters group. I'm in it! Does that make it better or worse? :p

I like you from elsewhere, Nancy, and I think you'd like our group.

Me three! Me three! I feel like the shy kid who's afraid to join the club. :eek: I have a pretty pathetic post-injury routine going on right now, so I'll make all the others in the check-in feel great about their workouts. :D
