Hi!
Just when I was starting to get bummed about my husband being gone ...

I'm not sure if I've shared this but my DH and I are currently living overseas and jobs are tough to come by... I'm a Speech Pathologist and really miss working with kids!

Anyway... I recently applied to the school here and... well .. the principal called today and said there's a teacher aid job helping Middle School Kids with Language Arts which is right up my alley! It's only part-time but it would be a start! Oh happy day! :)

I am hoping to hear soon ... *** crossing fingers *** !!!

Well thanks for listening!

Cath :)

Cath, that would be great!!! I really hope it works out....crossing my fingers and sending prayers too....:)...Carole

Well your prayers and fingers-crossed worked! They just called and offered me the job! I am looking forward to working again! It was nice to enjoy a break but I miss the routine and working with the kids! Thanks so much for the support everyone!

Thanks also Shelley,Missy,Terri and Carole!

Shelley-My husband and I are living in LaMaddalena,Italy ... the "other" Italian island in the Med. ... Sardinia. Beautiful place! My husband is in the military and we'll be here for another year.

Ciao! :)

Hi Cath,

I was just thinking yesterday, "I should post who out there is a speech-language pathologist?"

I love my job. I am and SLP in Illinois and work with elementary school students. I have been off all summer. Towards the end of the year you get a little burned out with the paperwork, meetings, distractible kids, but I look forward to going back in Aug to see what my kids were up to (hopefully they were keeping up the work on the /r/ sound!).

Congratulations on the job! It will be a good experience I am sure. I always love being in the classroom with the kids (I used to teach one lesson a week to the special ed class in my previous job).

Hi webbgirl!
It's so great to hear from another SLP! I miss speech! I had a great job when we lived in Buffalo,NY for a while and just loved it!!! I still keep in touch with my co-workers there!

As a side note...I found out that there may actually be a p.t. speech position here but I don't know if it will work out. Either way I am just so happy to be back in a school!

If you ever need to "talk shop" feel free ... let me know! Actually if I am doing speech here I will be all by myself so I'm sure I'll need someone to brainstorm with!

Great to "meet" you!

Cath :)

Yes it's hard to believe I live here! It's soooooo pretty! I'm trying to teach myself Italian ... may take a class this fall. I'd love to be able to speak more fluently! Haven't been to Milan yet but hopefully we'll get in a trip before we move next year!

Cath :)

Thanks for the invite to talk shop! I am sure I will need to as the school year progresses! I would be happy to brainstorm with you if you ever need it too. How many years have you been an SLP? I have been doing this for 4 1/2 years. If you ever need other ideas, I know a great website www.speakingofspeech.com

There are tons of free resources and they have a forum where you can post ideas and questions...I recommend checking it out. I have had used it a lot.

Good luck in your new job! I hope you are able to get the p.t. speech job!

Great to "meet" you too!

Thanks Webbgirl! That site looks great! And a forum too! Excellent! I have been an SLP for ... OMG! ... 12 years! Although I've been out of the loop lately since we've lived overseas! So maybe it's more like 10!

Thanks for the kind words! I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the p.t. speech job comes through! :)

Cath :)
