I take my hat off.....

To whomever can do the BootCamp cardio premix or the IMAX Blasts ONLY without pausing their player in between cardio segments.

You are my idol.

Janice :)

I believe these premixes and blasts were made for these slow twitched endurance queens, one of which I will never be....my hats off too. When God put me together he was thinking of heavy weights, not IMAX blasts.

Oh well....it's one of those things that we're going to have to put extra effort into!!!!!!

Briee

Im confused! Are you talking about JUST the intervals and not the cardio before the intervals, and JUST the cardio in Bootcamp. OR are you just talking about the vidoes just as they are? If thats the case, I have never tried that before.Who as tried it?

Lori...
Acually, when they say "intervals" I think that is referring to the rest part and NOT the work part. So.... I am talking about selecting the Boot Camp Cario Only selection off of the Boot Camp DVD OR the IMAX Blasts Only off of IMAX 2 which would be the blasts of hard cardio all put together (meaning none of the easier cardio) Do you not have DVD??

Briee.... I think it would be a more fast twich thing being as though it is so intense, but I can't imagine having either the cardio capacity or muscle capacity to do it! After almost all the blasts my legs are burning and my lungs are burning, you know???

I do remember the post from Robin C however that talked about doing this very thing. Uggghhh.....

Janice

To clarify, here's what I do once a week:
I do all the IMax 1 Intervals including the rest setions followed by all the IMax 2 intervals with the rest sections. So, it turns out to be an hour workout (including warm up and cool down) of all 20 invervals and rests and none of the aerobic work - esentially it's one long Blast.
I also run through the Cardio Only Premix on Bootcamp two times in a row when I need a shorter but really intense workout. I've added this HIIT to my lifing workouts to lean myself out.
Funny, I posted the IMax Plan on a "guys" bodybuilding forum (I use a CKD for my diet and had some questions)and they didn't believe I could do high intensity for more then 20 to 30 minutes at a time max. They said it really couldn't be "high intensity" work. Hummm, I'm a 48 year old female, they are a bunch of young male body builders...wonder how they would do with a regular Cathe workout???

RobinC

RobinC, I'm incredibly impressed, your 48 and doing these blasts, I can only hope for half this when I'm 48, great role model - keep it up. LOL regarding the young male body builders - I think they'd choke, lifting is just a whole 'nother game.

Likes2befit...thanks and this one is the next, next, next, next, next - figure that one out!!

Janice.....was contemplating after posting if "blast queens" would be fast twitch or slow twitch - I think about weird things like this at night. In my mind it would depend just how long the blast is - as Cathe says I can ANYTHING for a minute, but a 30-60 minute round of this would take some steady, constant, high endurance person, I think.

Briee

Nope I don't have the DVD.That why I don't know what your talking about.I do have the intensity series dvd though.I am still trying to figure out how to program my DVD player to mix and max things.Im not sure if it can do it.
Lori

Thanks for the encouragement, Briee!! I'm just going to keep goin' as I can (with alot of help from our Ms. Cathe!)...and CONGRATS on the upcoming due date!!

Does anyone know about fast twitch and low twitch?? I must confess, I don't know anything about it, but often wonder if the challenges I take on myself are all mind over matter or just genetic muscle fiber?

RobinC

P.S. I do all the step work on 10", BTW...I don't mention it often, because I have been scolded for it before (nicely, of course)...but I've been doing it that way with all my Cathe work outs for years and have never had any problems...just 2 inches more intensity!!

If Robin is able to do all this without fatigue then I think you would be correct Briee in saying it is slow twitch muscle fiber. Robin, and correct me if I am wrong Robin, is an ectomorph and I would think she has a greater proportion of slow twitch fibers. Still seems like the nature of the exercises would take fast twitch, but dunno. Robin, do you do alot of exhaustive heavy lifting? Sometimes I think the reason I cannot do some of these moves is because my legs are always tired from other stuff. Just a thought.

Do you do any other cross training Robin? I know you said you used to be a dancer?

Just to let you know Briee, I don't think there could be two more opposite poeple physically than Robin and I. TOTALLY different ends of the spectrum!

Robin, you must be one of those gifted poeple whom never get injured and can push forever. I, unfortunately am not one of these, so even if I could do your rotation I probably would not want to. Something would break down for sure eventually and I am only 27.:)

Janice

Janice, I'm not really sure if I'm an ecto or a meso - below are links to some pics I had taken in July after our fitness fanatics challenge (Tank Top Rotation with FitnessGoddess).

And yes, I lift 3 or 4 times a week and always heavier than Cathe on legs, chest and back (I have to to get the muscles working) ...about 50-60 #'s on leg work and 40-50#'s on chest and back. Arms match Cathe usually and always have - I have a tough time upping weights on shoulders and biceps...triceps, not a problem.
And I've been incredibly lucky - the only times I've been seriously injured was an ankle sprain when I missed the step and fell trying to learn some Cristy Taylor choreography a few years back (ouch!) and when my dancing career was ended by a partner dropping me on a lift that shattered my big toe joint (double ouchy - I had to have surgery to remove the pieces)- no more pointe shoes after that!

Anyway, I still don't understand the slow/fast twitch thing ...is it possible to have a balanced combination of both?? Which type are you, Janice, my total opposite ;^) ??? Are you an ecto, endo or meso??

All I know is that we are all different and that is the glory of life...what if we were all the same??? Whatever works is what counts!!
YOU GO GIRL!!

Robin

Now that I look again Robin, I guess you would be a little meso with ecto mixed in. That's what it looks like. You sound stronger than me, but that does not affect your body type. I am more mesomorphic in nature than you, but also more endomorphic. You can see your muscles. You can't see mine!!!:):)

You truly are a beast with that barbell!!:) You give us all something to work up to!! Your pics are great after the TTR!!
