I REALLY Like Yoga X

I had the time to do the whole thing today and it is just great. I have a variety of yoga DVD's and particularly like Eoinn's, Bryan's and Baron's practices. What I don't like about them, though, is that they talk nonstop - blah, blah, blah, blah, blah (particularly Bryan and Baron). It's okay the first time or two you do one, but it gets really old after a while. Even though Tony is generally a chatterbox, his comments are alignment-oriented and very helpful in this DVD. It's challenging enough for experienced yogis, but it's so well-cued that I think fit people who've never tried yoga would get more out of it than beginning yoga workouts which just don't provide a physical challenge, even if they do teach you about the poses. Tony's form isn't the greatest and he could place more emphasis on breathing, but aside from that, this one's really a winner. Doing the second half (beginning w/balancing postures and possibly skipping "yoga belly 7") is a great 25-min add-on.

I love Yoga X....I hated it the first 2-3 times I did it, but now it is one of my favorites. I now find myself picking Yoga X over Bryan Kest's Power Yoga and I always liked that one.

I have to say I never enjoyed doing Yoga X...and the few times I skipped a workout in the P90X rotation it was always Yoga X that got skipped. I'm not sure why I didn't like it...I really wanted to like it too as I'm not that flexible and wanted it to help me in that department. But sometimes I just couldn't get myself out of my head about it and unfortunately ended up skipping it. I need to suck it up and just start reintroducing it into my current rotations and give it 100%. But hey that's GREAT that you are enjoying it :D :D...heehee !!

I'm with you Robin. Hated Yoga X the first few times I did it. As a matter of fact did a P90X rotation without the Yoga the first time:eek: (Bad girl, I know!!). Second round (which I'm still in) I am loving it and hate to miss it. I really think it has helped with not only flexability but strength as well. Oh and of course balance. Now if I could only master the crane- have done it for about oh 4 secs total then have to put a toe or foot down or my head comes crashing down LOL!!

I love YogaX too when I have the time.

I have to say though that I absolutely love PlyoX the best! It's so fun and perfectly broken down into short segments so I never get bored.

You Gals are, again; piquing my interest in the 90X w/o's. This one sounds great. I've looked but not yet been able to find a cheaper way to get this series across the border. I'd love to hear what Canadians have paid for these workouts.

Yoga X actually got me into yoga. I'd tried for years, off and on, to like yoga, but never stuck with it or learned to love it. Whodathunk Tony would be the one to help me like it?

Kathryn, what was it about this workout that clicked with you? Were the other yoga workouts you tried more beginner-ish?

I love this workout. The first time I did it I about died!! Those poses in the first half of the workout really work the legs!! I don't know much about yoga or proper form, and I struggle somewhat because I'm not very flexible, but I really feel like I get a great workout from this DVD!!!

I liked that it was athletic, with no "woo woo" instruction.

Sara Ivanhoe makes some good workouts that are more approachable than Yoga X.

I've also tried some yoga DVDs by Body Wisdom. They have a lot of 'premix'type options, but they aren't flowing like some yoga, because the chapters skip around from pose to pose to make the premixes, so each move has a beginning, middle and end. The narration is voice-over and there are excellent cues, IMO, if you can get one by the woman who does "Yoga for Athletes" by Body Wisdom.
