I am just so sad for you It sounds like you at least did the right thing by going to the Dr that is what medicine is for I know when the bad times are here life seems really hard
About 6 years ago my husband and I both lost our jobs of 20 years I was sure this was the end of the world as we have 3 boys and the ususal bills etc.. Now things are so much better actually in our case it was the best thing to happen to us our jobs were high stress but anyways my point being as bad as things seem I believe evrything happens for areason
Hang in there My thoughts are with you

Hey hope things are going ok for you. I too was out of work last year. High tech -it comes with the territory - high risk - high reward.

Anyhow for me it was the BEST thing to ever happen to me. It made me focus on what was REALLY important. I dont want to preach religion here but I totally realized how important that was even read the bible which I never would have if I was working. I got to spend lots of time volunteering with an environmental organization and at an animal shelter. I got to spend LOTS more time with my kids. THey are teenagers and my daughter is now a sr in HS. Also got to read alot. Worked out a lot.

Things that helped like you said... POSITIVE attitude. You really do have to work it. I spent 1/2 hr a day each am getting in the right mind set. What was amazing was I got the job just when $ was getting very tight. I was out of work for 5 months and only had to dip into savings one time.

We had the most amazing things happen... like my daughters prom dress turned out to be a last year style at Lord and Taylor and we got it for $10!! I applied for a job 6 miles from my house - the day of the interview I saw on monster at the company "the perfect job" posted that am. When I came in the said we hate to "bait and switch but.. a job came up today that seems like a perfect fit." Anyhow i got in before any one else. They had me talk to the president that day. There were 200 other applicants so they said they would have to interview some and then bring me back. THe next week they called and said I was perfect fit and they were not going to interview anyone else. That's where I am not. ANother great thing is because I was out of work my daughter's jr year we get financail aid.

Miracles do happen and things will work for the best.... This forum is a great support too.. and cathe tapes sure help a lot.

The other thing on the job search.... focus on the little things and celebrate success eg. getting a nibble, getting an interview, getting a 2nd interview etc.

Best to you

Robyn-
What you say is so true. Sometimes things happen to us that look bad for the moment, but, even as a person who doesn't believe in organized religion, I believe that things happen for a reason. So many "bad" things that happen have a happy outcome, particularly if you have an open attitude. I've lost jobs, and I can honestly say that I am glad I lost every one of them because I always wound up much happier on the next one! Robyn, you have a great attitude! And Lisa, I wish you lots of luck!

Editing again to say DON'T FORGET TO APPLY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT!! If you got no warnings, your employer will have a difficult time claiming that you were let go for cause. (My mom was an appeals tribunal judge for unemployment claims, so if you have any problems, please let me know.)
