I am considering purchasing the 4-day split dvd's however, I have been seeing mixed reviews on collagevideo. I noticed that this dvd is not rated as high as some of her other ones.

If you have purchased this, could you email me your thoughts??

Thanks!

Stephanie

The only parts not worth it is the 2 cardio (Hi and Low Imapct). The rest of the serie is great. I love Bootcamp the most. I do this serie in a more relaxed week. So it's not so intense. But the Bootcamp and Kickboxing is good. I actually like the doing the premix of both together. It's a great cardio workout. So it depends on you. It's not as intense as her usual workouts. But it's good for more relaxed weeks.
I am happy to have it in my rotations. But I have to say... it's my least favorite of all series. But it's also a change! The variety, the better.

I don't do the step workouts but I do the bootcamp and kickingboxing segments as a premix back to back. I love, love, love the weight work!!! I usually do the upper body premix. I really bought it for the weight work and I have not been disappointed.

I love the 4 day split, the cardio isn't as intenise as her other cardio's BUT I think it has to do with the fact the cardio is only 30 minutes long where her other cardios are an hour or longer that is why it seem less intense, but it gets the job done. I don't think any of Cathe's workouts would sale us short on the physical fitness.

The marketing of that series was for time saving workouts where we might not have the time to fit in anything longer, so they are scaled to fit in on days we don't have a lot of time. So you get 30 minutes cardio 30 minutes weights instead of the hour cardio or hour weights that we are used to.

I love the workouts, I think my favorite is Boot Camp, but I enjoy doing the cardio on the other two (high and low intensity) kind of give my mind a break from all of her other hard and tuff cardio workouts.

I've had 4day split in my cart a few times, but can't decide.
I'm thinking about buying Cross Train xpress instead. I want it for the leaner legs workout. I'm not very good with Cathe's step workouts, so 4 Day split might be the better choice for me.

The 4DS is my favorite Cathe series right now. I bought it for the weight work and I LOVE it! I don't do Cathe's cardio because I prefer to use my elliptical, and I still feel like I got my money's worth out of it.

Some people wanted more cardio, but the idea behind the 4DS was to create a cardio and weight workout that you do at once, and I find it to be both effective and efficient. I just love it!

The more I do these workouts the better I like them. I am doing the 4DS rotation for the second time (the one that Cathe posted after these were released) and seeing some nice results. The learning curve on the step cardio workouts is steep and that's putting it mildly. But it's worth sticking with them, I think, as they are fun routines that really get your heart pumping and your body revved for the heavy weight work. This time around with the rotation I'm not afraid to go heavy with the weight work and that is making a big difference for me.

Split Series

Hi Stephanie

I purchased the split series when it first came out and I'm pretty happy with it. I do like the higher and lower impact step workouts. I particularly like the Double Cardio pre-mix combing both into one long cardio workout. Otherwise, I feel either one is too short. I muse admit I haven't done the bootcamp workout as of yet, but the kickboxing portion of that second DVD is fine. Hope this helps!

I ::heart:: 4DS! It has everything you need all in one set. The weight WO is tough and super challenging. I love the UB premix. If you want an intense cardio session, the LIS/HIS double cardio premix is fun and makes you think. The KB/BC cardio premix is also enjoyable and gets you good and sweaty. I think this is everything that Cathe does best, at it's best. The premixes alone make it a super-duper value!

I like 4DS because it is a little different. I agree that you have to go heavy with the weights to see a difference. I actually like the premixes more since I can do an hour of cardio, circuit, or just upper or lower body.

This is my FAVORITE Cathe series!! As a work out of the home/mom of a toddler, I don't have time for 60 minute workouts (I'm already getting up at 5:15AM to squeeze in a 30-40 minute one) and I break this up by using the premixes. The weight work is different and I'm seeing results (I'm doing a two month rotation with it right now.) Someone who hasn't seen me in awhile asked what I was doing, and I told him working out at home with DVDs, and he said, "Well, I can tell you've been working out. You look great!"

I LOVE the bootcamp segment, I'm just learning kickboxing so I like that, too, and I LOVE the LIS workout. I'm working up to the HIS because that one looks hard to learn, LOL.

But by far my favorite series for fun factor, time factor, and RESULTS factor!!

So I say yes, you should buy it!! :)

I love everything about these workouts. I've seen such great results doing them. As they are presented, will give you awesome results. The 30 min. cardios are the icing on the cake.:)

Don't give up on anything these DVD's require of you.;)

Just my opinion,

Janie

I bought 4DS for the 2 step workouts. I was really wanting new step from Cathe, so went ahead and bought for those only. And ended up hooked on heavier weights. I have logged over 50 hours using this series and have enjoyed it all. Bootcamp is my least favorite segment, but it's still a good heart-pumping workout.

I look at the series as 4 cardio and 4 weight workouts and mix and match as needed. I did do 2 4-week rotations as intended (using either as recorded or weights first premixes) and saw nice strength gains and definition.

One of my favorite things to do is the nice long Kickbox warm-up followed by the Lower Body premix.

I love 4DS, although at 36 weeks pregnant, I can't really do any of it.

I tend to use the premixes more than the series as is. I love the total upper body split, the Chest, shoulder triceps premix, the back biceps premix, the legs only premix, the premixes that combine cardios, and various weight/cardio circuits.

I think I'll be preoccupied with STS after the baby for a long while, so I'll just be using 4DS cardio, not the weight segments for some time.

I love the heavier weights and I think the cardio segments are really fun and complement each other well--the step segments are more complex and the kick box and boot camp are not complex, but will get your heart rate up.

The only thing I really didn't like about this series was that Cathe ignores the beat of the music during the weight segments at times and I wish she could have just made adjustments in the music or something. I like to stay on beat.

I think it's a great series.

Funny you should ask as I am doing 4DS this week! LOL

I think the weight work is phenominal! The kickbox and bootcamp cardios are excellent as well. I think this particular kickbox routine is my fave of Cathe's overall! I am not a fan of the 2 step routines. I love Cathe's step work outs but these too are way more dancey and complicated then what I prefer. Just to give you an idea, I disliked Rythmic Step as well. If you like the more complex, dancey choreo then you will probably love these routines.

I feel 4DS is well worth the money even if you only use it for the weight work. I am still very happy about my purchase despite not using the step routines. It's a very versatile series as is but then when you add the premixes to it, it's a whole new world!

I would say to go for it. Without a doubt!:)

I LOVE 4 day split. I think a lot of people don't really like the step portion because the coreography is a bit dancier and not as high impact, but I enjoy it. There is a lot of variety here because it covers so much. I'm surprised no one mentioned the kickbox portion which is my all time favorite. True that these workouts are shorter but that was the whole point of the series, to appeal to the busy home exerciser. What I really like is that the warm up does not feel like a warm up. It feels like I'm right into the workout. I don't really like the longer 10 minute warmups. When I want a longer workout I just do boot camp and kick box or high step and low step back to back. There is a lot of variety here and I feel it is well worth your investment.

Another vote for LOVE it, BUY it!! I do not care for the bootcamp one, but LOVE all others. The step is super fun and the weight work is different and great!
