I need luggage!!

What is some sturdy durable luggage? I don't want to be arriving at the airport with trash bags or my sons' backpacks with my clothes inside. LOL! Since this will be my first trip I need to go shopping for some. I just have to figure out what kind and where to go! Suggestions?

Get one of those suitcases with the pull-out handle and the wheels. They're everywhere, you can get them at almost any price point and they're very sturdy.

Do you have a Kohl's nearby? They do great prices on good luggage like Samsonite and American Tourister. Is that how you spell tourister? Is tourister a word?

I got an American Tourister set at Target for pretty cheap (it was like $120 for a large wheeled suitcase, a small wheeled suitcase and a shoulder bag-type thing). They have held up very well, even being thrown around by airline baggage handlers. The wheeled suitcase is a MUST - it makes getting around the airport 300 times easier. Unless you are planning to do extensive traveling, there is really no need to spend hundreds of dollars on luggage. Oh, and don't forget to invest in some good luggage locks! Not the little cheapy ones that anyone can pick with a hairpin. But good, solid, heavy ones with a complex key. Even if the luggage you buy comes with a built-in combination lock - those are easy to bust open, so get a keyed lock too. :)

Travelpro is excellent. That's what most flight crews use. You can find it at TJ Maxx pretty cheap. It's very durable if you travel often. I don't regret buying it.

I've purchased sets (one for me and one as a gift) from eBags http://www.ebags.com. They were great to deal with and the prices were very reasonable. They also have customer ratings and reviews of their products.

Thanks for the help ladies!! Much appreciated! I am going to go looking tomorrow to see what I can find. My DH needs some for his trip to Arizona on Monday too.

I would also suggest you buy the size that you can carry on so that you don't have to check your luggage. This way, you can check in faster, your stuff doesn't get lost, and you don't have to wait at the baggage claim. You can generally carry on a carry-on bag and then another bag (i.e., laptop bag, backpack, big purse-type bag).

The downside is you have to pick and choose what you are bringing with you. :) Also, you have to be careful not to pack anything like a Swiss Army Knife, although for the life of me I can't imagine who carries stuff like that around casually!

Cheers,
Marie

If you have a Costco nearby, they pretty much always have luggage available (at least mine does) and it's very reasonable. I also recommend buying the carry on size and get one with wheels. If I remember correctly on my last trip, you could carry on two pieces of luggage (within their size limits) in addition to your purse.
