I-Max Circuit, anyone?

See, this is what happens when you hit Starbucks hard, early and often . . .

You can do this with I-Max 1, I-Max 2, or I-Max 2 Blast-Only/Mania:

After each step/blast/recovery cycle, hit the "pause" button on your VCR/DVD, grab a moderately loaded barbell (whatever you might use for Power Circuit, Body Max, Boot Camp etc) or two heavier dumbbells, and crank out 32-48 squats, plie squats or lunge variations; then quickly put the weight(s) down, start your player again and go on to the next step/interval/recovery cycle. Do as many complete cycles as you feel like; the beauty is that you can make this as intense as you want, and as extended or brief as you want depending on your time availability and energy level.

I'm a genius . . .

Wow - I'm actually ahead of you on this one. I have always put my DVD on pause after each interval/recovery cycle.....

to pant until I can breath again. Are you kidding! hehe I can't even go from one cycle to the next, nevermind throwing in some pulse raising squats in there!

Start drinking decaf woman!

Punky, you kill me!! Talk about Laughing Out Loud - I'm with you, I can just barely make it through this as is.

And Annette, I'm alittle bit afraid of you, lady and I'm not ashamed to admit it!!

Too FUNNY!!

Annette, I want to see a photo of you!!!!

What do your legs look like after your workout schedule / mish-moshes and over the Starbucks, hard, early and often? Inquiring minds and eyes want to know and see?????? }(

Blessings from our home to yours...Runathon

Let's see . . . a photo of A-jock:

Picture a 5'3" bald woman with dark shadows on the top of her head in a fantastic abstract pattern. . . quarterback shoulders . . . skinny forearms and fingers (manicured of course) . . . legs muscling up quite nicely . . . two left feet and 6 toes on each one . . .

Actually, the mish-moshes that I've been able to cook up with Cathe's DVD's have really pushed my cardio and leg performance capabilities to a whole new level, far more than with VHS versions. And I'm still scruffing around for a good Thursday night workout; that tends to be the night I blow off the most often. The aqua training helps too, because there's a lot of quad/hamstring work you can do using water resistance that really keeps the muscle cut going.

You guys are great! Try the I-Max Circuit challenge sometime, even if it's only 25-30 minutes or so! I'd bet you'd surprise yourselves!

Have a great weekend!

Wow...I think I would need a TON of starbucks before even thinking about attempting this one! You go girl!

Ha!

Too, too funny! Punky, I'm with you! Annette, what are you thinking??? My goodness. Actually, I have IMax2 on the agenda for today and for some unknown sick reason, I am considering doing this! YIKES! If you don't hear from me ever again, it will be YOUR fault! Just think, someone will be able to pass me up on posts. (Kathryn, I think you might be next in line for posts!) Annette, I too would LOVE to see a pix of those beautiful muscles and manicured nails! Thanks for the circuit idea!

Woo-Hoooo!

I DID IT! :7 It was great! I used IMax2. I only used a 25# BB for all moves except a 10# med ball for step up leg presses. I did 32 of everything (plies, squats, lunges, walking lunges) except for split leg things like static lunges and leg presses, I did 16 and then repeated the single leg moves the next Interval. Does that make sense? Also, I could only handle 12 sit-n-stands after doing that 9th. interval. I could never have done all this legwork AFTER IMax2, but found it doable mixing it up! Just to let you all know~I thought it would take a looong time to do all this but IMax2 clocks in at 57 minutes on its own and adding these moves in-between each of the 10 intervals only made the workout 1 hour & 10 minutes long. I took a sip of water between each interval too. MUCH NEEDED! Try it you guys, it is GREAT! Thanks Annette!

RE: Hey, Debbeeeeee!

Congrats, and thanks for giving it a whirl - actually, I myself haven't done the I-Max Circuit idea yet; am saving it for this Thurs. p.m. when I need a good new idea.

Speaking of ideas . . . YET ANOTHER MISH-MOSH:

I-Max 1 warm-up*
Body Max power circuit segment
CTX StepIntervals interval segment, pausing after each step / interval / recovery and banging out more squats / plie-squats / lunges / step-ups / sit-n-stands / what have you

*I-Max 1 deserves a Lifetime Academy Award for Best Warm-Up

What a great idea!! :7
I'm going to try this one because my least favorite workouts are LEGS, and to get a leg workout in while you're already pumped up won't be so bad.......Plus a great circuit workout!

You go, A-Jock! :D

Donna!

Go for it. it is sooo doable. I am not saying easy by any means but putting the legwork in-between worked great! I could never have done IMax2 and then did all that extra leg work AFTER. Let me know how you do. I was very sore that night (sat in a movie for two hours+, went to get up and OH MY!!!!) and the next morning. But, it was a feel good sore, very worked out. Thanks again AJ. I LOVE IMax 2 warm-up. Gotta love those mambo cha-cha and pivots! FUN!

Ya know what I'm thinkin', A-Jock. I'm thinkin' that losing your hair has somehow affected your mind! Too much sun on that bare scalp??? Itsy bitsy pieces of brain tissue worked their way loose (probably jarred loose by IMAX), then escaped through those empty follicles? Are you NUTS, woman!?! This isn't fun! If this were forced upon prisoners of war, we'd have to answer to the U.N. for violating the Geneva convention!

Shari :)

RE: Donna!

I think I'm going to try this today. Today is cardio day and this certainly sounds like it would qualify. I think I'll start with Imax and 32 rep leg exercise between all the intervals. I may just do 7 or 8 of them to make it not be so long. We'll see. What a great new Psychoworkout, Annette!

RE: Shari - Wutherhi

Shari - you never told me you were an alopecia specialist! You hit the nail on the head }( (pardon the pun): hair's main function is to keep your head corked up and your brain cells in; when your hair falls out, your brain cells evaporate, making the remaining cells more porous and apt to come up with psycho-ideas. The brain cells that fall out are the outermost layer, most associated with reason, caution and common sense, and I've lost almost all of 'em.

New mish-mosh idea:

CTX Power Circuit hi/lo warm-up, and hi/lo segment
CTX 10-10-10 hi/lo segment
MIC hi/lo segment right when she goes to warp speed

RE: Shari - Wutherhi

Ah, well, you see, my hair "thinning" is caused by a thyroid condition. Because of the peculiar way in which the thyroid interacts with brain cells and empty hair follicles, those hairs currently exiting are taking with them only absolutely insane ideas like an IMAX circuit and leaving behind perfectly normal ones, such as purchasing a miniaturized trampoline and flailing about my office for 45-60 minutes while simultaneously attempting to avoid an eight foot ceiling (by a nearly six foot woman on a 12" platform)--all while watching someone else do it on television and attempting to imitate his movements.

RE: Shari - Wutherhi

Ajock.....I was scared to read another mish mosh as just the thought is physically straining at present, BUT this one was just what I needed. I normally do LL every Tuesday and have been just too wiped these past two weeks to even comtemplate it, so today I subbed in your IMAX Circuit. I only did 6 intervals, but with squats, sitnstands, lunges, and plies (similar to what Debbie listed) in between and it is my answer to LL boredom. Next time I will add in some one legged squats off the bench and maybe leg presses and I think I'll go heavy next time.

THANKS!!! :7 :7 :7

All righty folks, I think tonight is time for another of A-Jock's world famous mish-moshes and this one is it! I was planning on doing Imax 3 anyway (I don't have Imax 1 or 2) so what the heck, I'll just throw in a whole whack of leg work and then maybe I'll have an excuse to not come to work tomorrow. "Sorry, can't walk...":)
