I have said since day one, I did not want to know the sex of the baby until it's born. Since then, I've have the ususal ultrasounds, etc. ALWAYS saying "don't tell me the sex". Well, yesterday when I went to the dr. for my weekly "are you dialiating" visit, she was checking the baby out on her mini-ultrasound monitor, she says....."Oh look! There's the BOY parts" and focused in on them. I was FURIOUS!!!! I then was mad at myself, for being SO mad at her, and NOT being happy that I'm having a boy...so then I was double mad. What a viscous cycle, huh? I just couldn't believe my dr. told me~two weeks away.

OH MY GOODNESS!!I totally understand...to go ths far and at the finish line she tells you!!!What did she say?. Well the bright side is you can go out and buy some boy things and in 2 weeks it will not matter. I hope you feel better and keep us posted

Wow that far and then she told you. So sorry for the disappointment of being told. There is the bright side as she pointed out above, bring the blue blanket to the hospital.

I was wondering...just how many ultrasounds do they do now?, my goodness....seems like they are doing them almost every visit. Is this normal for everyone?? Seems like ultrasound overload.

Keep us posted and we can't wait to hear the birth story!!!! Hope all goes well. Blessings.

Oh Susan!! What a bummer! Silly doctor!! You'd think they'd know not to blurt that stuff out! I'm worried about that happening myself. I can understand why you would feel your 'cyclic' upset feelings! But... congratulations on your little boy!
Maybe don't tell anyone that you know (except your hubby?), so that you can still have the announcing the sex experience at birth--
Good luck!

So sorry to hear that! But congratulations on your little boy! Same thing just happened to my neighbor but only one day before delivery. She was furious.

We also did not find out the sex of our baby and my doctor's office was great about it. However, I had to have an additional u/s done at a radiologist office because I was measuring so large and even though I told the tech we did not want to know, she said at one point "oh, she is playing with her foot". Thankfully we did not buy pink stuff though because I had a boy! Guess she calls all babies "She".

As for how many ultrasounds, I had four. One at 6 wks (because I was having no pregnancy symptoms), one at 20 wks (regular), the extra one at 26 wks and the last at 36 wks (regular). Our office usually just performs 2 though.

Bree, I've had a few ultrasounds. The first one, when I first found out I was pregnant at 8 weeks, another at 19 and 26 weeks. Those were done due to being 35. They were checking for downs syndrome and my last one the other day to check the baby's size, since he's so small. So, four total.

However, in my doctor's office she has a little monitor, so I could see the baby every month during each visit.

Ruppie, My mother and sisters wanted to know what sex the baby is since day one. It's driven them nuts this whole time not knowing since they wanted to buy things for him.

I'm over being angry at her for telling me, but I was real upset at the time.
