I just took my "before" photos :(

I guess that is why they say the camera doesnt lie... I have been lying to myself. :( I am so sad right now. How often do you guys update your photo. 3 months? six months?

RE: I just took my

I am in the same boat as you. I went on vacation last year and recently our group had a reunion. I couldn't make it, but some pictures were mailed to me. OMG....I didn't realize how overweight I really was. I knew I needed to loose weight my my goodness!!! But, I will say that those pictures have motivated me to get my butt in gear. I vow NEVER to look like that again!!

I probably won't take any new pics for awhile, but I do keep the ones from my trip in the kitchen to remind myself that I never want to go back to that size again!!!

RE: I just took my

I agree it is a real eye-opener. I had my son take pics of me 2 weeks ago and I literally cried. But it also got me to get my butt back into gear. I"m going to have him take pics every month. I"ve got quite a bit of weight to lose so I"m hoping that I"ll be able to notice the changes from month to month.

Good luck!

RE: I just took my

Alright. Listen to me. Don't get discouraged. You are members of this board and I'm guessing working out with Cathe. So you are headed in the right direction.

I was very motivated by what I looked like in pictures. I hated myself. I would start working out and "dieting" only to fail time and time again and end up gaining weight. I didn't know how or what to eat, or have any idea about what workouts would work for me.

I joined here a little over a year ago and have been working out with Cathe ever since. I learned how and what to eat. I work out everday, sometimes twice a day if time permits. I go to the ladies here for support and inspiration and motivation and they never have failed me. I lost 30 lbs. since starting here. I gained a few back over the holidays which brought me down, but I got my butt back in gear and they're off again.

Losing weight is not easy. Looking better is not easy. It takes a lot of hard work, time and patience. It takes figuring out how many calories to eat everyday. It takes staying away from sweets and other good foods we would normally binge on.

We're all on the right path here which is what matters. We are doing something about the way we look. If we believe in ourselves we can do anything. ANYTHING.

So sorry to rant. I just know so well where this is coming from and don't want anyone to backslide or get down on themselves. :)

RE: I just took my

Don't you dare be sad! Be happy that you are on the right track and that you want to change your life. Many, many people NEVER do! You'll get there. Pictures ARE really depressing, but if that's what motivates us, then more power to 'em!

I would recommend taking pics every 4 weeks. I do Body for Life and for people who are in the contest, that's what the BFL people recommend. If you think that will depress you too much, maybe try every 8 weeks. But be sure to compare picture to picture so you can see the differences and help motivate yourself to keep going.

You'll do great!

RE: I just took my

I say take them every 4 weeks if you are determined to reach a goal. Use this whole situation to your advantage! Use your current pictures to motivate you to get healthier and more fit. Also, keeping in mind that the camera will be pointed in your direction in the very near future can help keep you on track!

I keep pictures of my "not-so-fit" self very handy as a reminder of how I never want to be again.

So get working! In 4 weeks, we want to see a psot that says "I just took some pictures and compared them to my 'before' pictures and WOW"! I know you want that too! Get busy...there is only ONE WAY TO DO THIS! Do it! You'll love yourself for it.

RE: I just took my

I mostly lurk around here, too chicken to post, but today I've decided that I would like to come forward and first thank the original poster for having the courage to post this (as I can really relate right now) and I also want to thank all of you for being such an inspirational and supportive bunch of ladies.

You all have just given me the inspiration to quit talking about it and get off my butt to get going with my regimented plan to lose this extra weight and tone back up. And I'm gonna face the music and start with a set of "disappointing" photos!

Thanks again to all of you, including the original poster! You all ROCK!! (Well, so does CATHE!);-)

Don't lurk! Ask questions, offer your wisdom! Help others and be helped! Talk to us!

Congratulation on making the decision to getting going on your goals! It is the only way to reach them! Ask yourself where you want to be in 4 weeks...the same place you are now or that much more fit and healthy! The quickest way to get it is to start NOW!! Make this your summer!

RE: I just took my

You have further inspired me to kick it up another notch. (not to mentioned my girlfriend just called and told me her wedding is being pulled up to July from Nov. because she's pregnant!! So now I've really got to slim down to get into one of the dog gone bridemaides dresses!!:p

RE: I just took my
