I have a problem with the pure strength workout

Hello

I am an intermediate to advanced weight trainer. I have recently bought two of your dvds: slow and heavy and pure strength. I love slow and heavy as I think it is very challenging and I always know I have worked out. However, I do not feel i benefit very much from the pure strength series. The problem I have is the speed of the reps. In order to maintain the speed of the reps I find I have to use a weight that is much lighter than I usually use and I do not actually feel like I have worked out. If i use a heavier weight i cannot keep the speed up. I cannot find a middle ground that works for me. I have tried swapping weights as I get fatigued through the sets but that does not really work for me either as again the sets too fast to swap over.

Is there a solution I could suggest to help me work along to the pace of the dvd and get a challenging workout for me. I really want to work at the pace of the dvd as i play the dvd on my laptop and I cannot easily stop and start playback.

Thanks verymuch for your help
Andrea

Andrea, since Cathe's in the middle of filming the HardCore Series right now, you might actually get a quicker response on the "Video & DVD questions" forum, from the very experienced and educated crowd who post there. I have found that someone there usually has a prompt, knowledgable, and creative solution to problems like this.

All the best,
Sandra

Hi Andrea! No not really IMO. This is YOUR workout & if the rep speed is too fast for you, which it obviously is, then you can easily do the exercises/sets/reps on your own & write everything down in a workout log book. This way each week you can see what you did the week before & the weights you used & set a goal for yourself to challenge yourself each week. This is just a suggestion. HTH, Kathy:D

I remember when I did PS and thought the lat row rep speed was too fast for the weight I like to lift.

Can you ignore the music and Cathe's rep speed and just do 8 reps at your own speed while she does 10 (or is it 12)?
