I Hate Cardio - May 9

August

Cathlete
Hi, girls!

Wait, are we all girls?

Today is PUB. I know what you're thinking. That doesn't sound like cardio to me, either. But I swear that I got this endurance rotation off of the rotation threads! (Maybe I chose it for the lack of obvious cardio, you dare say?!) But really, my cardio is coming up from tomorrow. Three times in a week. I should probably make it four. Or even five. Want to burn that fat,..but more important than that is I don't want to burn my desire to exercise. ;-)

Jana - I'm going to try out the new position of holding the barbell in front of me under my chin next time it comes in my workout. I'll tell you how that goes! Thanks for sending out the rescue party to come lookin for me. I'm never too far from Cardiohatesville!

Kate - Hahah! And I'll be the dufus directing, behind the scenes, sitting in my director's chair. I'll be directing you and Dana to step things up. Look alive! Look alive! }(

Michele - Soooooo....what have you got planned for your DH's return tomorrow evening? We want to hear some good nitty gritty.

Charlotte - Glad to hear things went so well with your new work, and that you seem to enjoy the people with whom you work.

Diane - I've been thinking of you nonstop. I just want you to know that I'm sending warm vibes your way.

i hate cardio too because i have a bad back and knees and cant even go on my air walker before it would hurt i would always put my back out now that i am doing cathes strength dvs i can do my air walker i guess i conditioned my body first.but i still prefer buying strength dvds over cardio ones.

Hi Haters!!

Doing PUB today too (going up in pyramid). Love it, but a long workout. I take little longer rest periods inbetween since I go heavier then Cathe. I also have to do Step Jump and Pump which I have never done before. Starting to love step. Plan is to get dinner on when I come home and just continue working out to PUB and then eat and then do SJP after dinner.

I here you all about the knees. My knees use to bother me alot, but since I have been continuing to ease into leg work and squatting heavier and such I am not bothered by them as much. Static lunges are still tricky for me and I know could put me out of commission at anytime if I am not careful of how I bend my knees...one wrong move and I am done so I really prefer to do walking lunges instead. JMHO

MY DH IS COMING HOME TODAY!!!!!!!!!

Oh, hi everybody. I just got a little excited there for a minute. Well, I followed YOUR recommendations and took the day off yesterday. I do have to get the cardio in today, though. I HAVE to. I ate like a little piggy yesterday. I just have one more day of celebrating left after my DH gets home, and we will probably do that over the weekend. Believe it or not, my hubby goes to work first thing tomorrow morning. I think he's crazy for not taking a day or two to rest and get over the jet lag. He said he might try to take Friday off.

So, I'm doing Body Fusion today and thank God almighty this is the last week on my rotation for that work out. I still cannot get through the 3rd cardio combo and I doubt I ever will. Oh crap, I just saw where BF will still be on my rotation, just not as often. Well, that's something anyway.

August, I think I may have to send little cardio spies out to see if you're really doing your cardio. I have my doubts but I guess I'll have to take you at your word for now--lol!

Toasty, I'm glad your first day on the job went smoothly. It must be a big adjustment to go back to work. Are you working full time? Good luck with your work out today. I'm lol at you. I picture you doing plyo moves in your kitchen as you're shaking the frying pan or something--lol!

Thinkgod1, welcome to Cardiohateville. Cardio is hard for me, too, but it doesn't bother my knees so much as it bothers my hip. I hope you can find a cardio work out you can do, and you're always welcome to check in with us.

Diane, hugs and kisshies for you:* :* .

Kate, I assume you're going to arrange the filming date for the Dufus Cardio DVD. What's on tap for you today? Now that you've run out of kindergarten field trips, what will your excuse be?

Dana, did you manage to get your coremax in last night before soccer? I would probably just drop over dead if I had your schedule--lol!

Jana, are you nursing your bad knee? I didn't see anything for you yesterday except for self-tanningmax! I was lol when I read your post about the drivers license picture. You're a nightmare! My picture looks like he!!

Ellen, please come back. We miss you, and thank you for the sweet birthday greeting.

I have to run now. I need to focus and be organized today because I want to have a lovely homecoming for my darlin' DH. I'll see you gals later.

Michele
:)

Hey haters!

First off, I think that today is Diane's birthday. Am I correct? If so, Happy Birthday? How are you doing today? I"ve been thinking of you too.

Nope, didn't get in anything yesterday. Would've had the perfect opportunity as soon as I got home from work but DH's grandma stopped in b/c she wanted to go to soccer with us. Gannon was napping but I couldn't be rude and tell her I was going upstairs to workout.

Today is a walk and who knows what.

I"m a bit bummed today. After I returned to work in March, I applied for childcare assistance. I pay childcare, and take care of some of our smaller bills (credit card, water, garbage and some groceries (my *healthy* food)). DH pays for everything else. Anyway, today when I dropped off the boys at daycare the director told me that she recieved a letter from CCIS that as of May 17 we are no longer eligible for assistance. So I'm all upset b/c I cannot afford to work. I know that sounds stupid but it is true. I get paid bi-weekly and until they take out for all of the taxes, union dues and health insurance I bring home a measily $459. Daycare for 2-weeks is $420. So that leaves me with $39 to my name. I cannot even fill up my gas tank for $39. I called the agency this morning and the caseworker was not available but the office girl told me that it looks like on our new income tax form that my DH had a loss in profits rather then a gain so therefore we are not eligible. I don't understand all that jargon but wouldn't you think that if you were making less money you would still qualify??? So I'm stuck. I don't know what to do. If I quit my job we will have no health, dental or life insurance. My DH is self employed so I'm our source of insurance. We do not have enough money to pay $1000/month for health insurance. But if I stay at my job, I won't have any money for anything. My DH will have to give me money just to get here. This is the first time in my entire life that I have ever accepted any type of assistance. I've worked since I was 13 years old. I am not the type of person who thinks that the government owes them - my DH and I both work full-time, but things are hard right now financially. My head is pounding, I feel like I could cry. OK, I'm done complaining.

Dana~ ok now you got me thinking....hmmm....I have been helping my friend who gets assistance for her situation for about 2 years now, got to remember I am a number cruncher and you are right it does not make sense they would turn you down with less profit being shown on the tax return. However, since you added Gannon it may have changed things. Let's talk and let me see if I can help in any way. Texas is not that hard to deal with if you do the numbers right. Sugguestion is depending on what you claim for taxes you can change that and take a lower refund at the end of the year. I don't think you should quit just yet, let's try to figure some stuff out ok? Don't give up ok!

Michele~ How is life today after the b-day? Did you manage to get a workout in yesterday? I was a slacker yesterday. Yes still nursing the knee until surgery time, not looking forward to the surgery, but looking forward to feeling better! Did you have a good b-day? I hope you did!

Diane~ how are you today? I know everyone has been sending you some really good vibes. We are all thinking about you and hope you get through this ok.

August~ thanks for starting the thread today. Glad you are working out and yes you need to do some more cardio. Let me know if the barbell thing works out for you and if it helps. That shoulder thing you have going on is really weird. Might be a nerve? I hope the other way helps out.

Char Char~ oh I miss Char Char! Working girl!! back on track today and feel much better.

Ok now here is my rant for all of you today. I don't want to hear anyone complain about cardio! Got it! You don't realize how good it is until you cannot do it because of a physical injury! So be THANKFUL you can do it and you are healthy and your darn knee does not hurt so bad you can hardly get up the stairs!!!! Now, it's ok to express that it is challenging, but come on you are doing your heart, mind, and your overall body so much good by doing your cardio! Not to mention melting away fat! So, with that said everyone go do some cardio!!!!! and put a smile on your face while you are doing it!!!

And have a good day too everyone!

JanJan

Oh Dana! {{{{{BIG HUGS}}}}} for you. That really sucks! And you're right. It makes absolutely no sense to me at all that they would take away benefits when you've had a reduction in profits and income. Is there someone else you can talk to? Really, that doesn't sound right. I'll keep you in my prayers and hopefully something will happen and your tide will turn.

OMG, I think you're right, it is Diane's birthday. Happy Birthday, Diane! I hope you have a great day and a huge piece of cake!

ETA a big hello to Jana and ask, are you nuts!? Hellllllloooooo! Have you seen the title of this thread? Okay, I understand on some deeply philosophical level that we should just be grateful we have all our limbs and they are fully functioning, but it's going a bit far to suggest we smile during cardio:eek: . Sorry, that's where I draw the line. Here's kisshies for your knee and I'll try not to complain within your earshot. :p

Michele

Dana, what a drag. I used to work (no longer, thank goodness) and yeah, childcare is very expensive. I really worked only for the insurance (don't have that now, oh well). If both my girls were in afterschool club, it would be $800.00 per month. For infants these days, I was told it is $700.00 per month. Wow.
Okay, the dufus workout is on the way. We have a director and participants. We need a venue. How about a house that was closed for safely code violations. Should be attractive.
I did KPC today. I feel like a wimp, but today is my day to work in the Kindergarten class. Gosh, I gotta get ready. I am smelly and sweaty.
Have a good day and once again, remember cardio is your friend!

Ok I know we all get to complain, I was being silly, just wanted to remind everyone that we are doing our bodies good by doing cardio. And oh my Michele you have come a long way on your cardio. I think LIS is next..are you ready? Watch and see how good you do on it! Not to mention you are going to be a hot momma this summer! right! right!

Kate~ don't feel like a wimp with KPC, it's hard, but its fun too right? I think KPC is my fav. I do miss the jump kicks x(
Ok well at least you had fun and today is Kindergarten. Oh they are so cute at that age! Have too much fun today! :7

happy birthday Diane!
I am not into KPC as much as everyone else seems to be. I like to do it once per month because I get really bored with the windmills. I do like the abs though, makes me feel like a flabby load!

afterthought: oh that dreaded DL picture. The last time I got my pics taken (2 years ago) I had the flu and I have my then four year old with me. My eyes are half closed and I look like I am going to barf. My daughter would not settle down ( I guess that is what it is like being four) and I look like I weigh about 50 pounds more than I actually did. What a horror!! I hate to show that thing. People are always telling me "great job on the weight loss" I just say "thanks"

Hi Everyone -

Sorry I didn't get a chance to check in until now. Thanks everyone for the happy birthday wishes! Cheered me up! I also just got flowers from DH delivered to my office, and that helped too. Finally feels like it might be my birthday!

I am running on empty right now. I worked until 2:30 am last night and then woke up at 5 am to get to work by 6 and have been working straight until now. I worked from 12 am to 2:30 at home, and had Lucy to keep my company on my lap. This job is literally killing me I think. Definitely no cardio today at least! I have a good excuse.

Dana - I am so sorry about your situation. It really makes no sense. Let us know how it gets worked out.

Okay, long enough break, I have to get back to work for a few more hours until I finish another project, and then I might actually have a breather for a few minutes without deadlines.

My gosh, Diane! Is your office just going through a busy spurt or is this how it's going to be? I just want to schnug you up in bed and bring you a cup of hot tea or something.

I'm glad your DH sent you flowers. There's nothing like a lovely bouquet of fresh flowers to cheer up your space. I hope you have time for a nice dinner tonight. Take care and please try to salvage something of this evening.

Michele:)

Hey y'all,

Dana - I don't even know what to write - that must really make you feel so stuck. That tax stuff is so frustrating - it seems like if you know the system or can pay someone to know the system for you, you can save a bunch, but the rest of you are screwed. That's so nice of Jana to offer some help.

Jana - Yeah, it's a major bummer that my using a barbell for my legs has become an issue with dealing with a swollen arm! My PUB didn't call for the barbell (as you all know, I imagine), and since I have CARDIO, CARDIO, CARDIO planned for pretty much the rest of the week, I'll have to try out the new barbell position next week!

Oh yes, yes. Cardio. Must love cardio. Must love cardio. Actually, I've been using BFFM this week and it recommends goal setting and affirmation cards, so...don't laugh at me now...one thing I've written down on one of the cards that I read to myself every day : I LIKE CARDIO. I'm not even joking! I'm going to convince myself with positive affirmation! And I am gonna LOVE my KPC tomorrow, yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Don't tease, Michele.

Charlotte - Hope your PUB went fantastically!

Diane - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! How sweet of your husband to send you flowers to brighten up your office. (And how great to be able to bring Lucy to work!) I imagine you might not feel much like celebrating and this might sound a little silly but - Lucy would want you to have fun and have a nice birthday. I know she's a kitty, but my cats always picked up on my vibe, so no doubt that Lucy picks up on yours - so let yourself feel good about smiling and laughing...even if it's hard...it'll be good for you, your husband, and also for Lucy. We're all wishing you lots of warmth.

Michele - Hey, Body Fusion Queen! And I mean that about you and your DH, not the workout! Hubba hubba hubba!

Kate - You did KPC? You felt like a wimp? Don't intimidate me - I'm doing that one next! My face gets really red when I do this workout. You know the funniest thing that gets me in the mood to do kickboxing? Putting my hair in a ponytail. I have no idea why, but somehow putting it up like that gets me all inspired. Is there a cardio that is your favorite?.......Haha on the DL! "Great job on the weight loss" - LOL!

Anyhow, everyone read about my next workout, right? I think I'll repeat it. I'm doing KPC tomorrow. I like cardio. I like cardio. I like cardio. On a side note, I've been doing pretty well with my BFFM that I started two days ago...except that I switched my carb intake to 50% rather than the 40% I'd been doing for half a year...and have felt, uh, um, bloated. And I've been feeling hungry. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen. Hmm. Well, I'll see how things go the rest of the week. I'll be out of town again this weekend, just so you know!

Hi Michele - This is an especially busy spurt, but generally I am on call to work as long as it takes to get the job done, night and weekends, whatever it takes. Eventually I hope to change jobs to one that is more 8-5:30 type thing, but my current job is helping me pay off my student loans a lot faster. Those kinds of jobs are harder to come by for lawyers too, because everyone wants them :) I need a little more experience before I can get one of those. So for now, I am paying off loans as faster as possible so I can get out of here!

The worst part is that I haven't had time to spend with Lucy since I found out she was sick. That is why we are not putting her down until next week, so we will have all weekend to spend with her. Hopefully she won't get more sick before then, because I don't want her to be in pain.
