I Hate Cardio - May 23

August

Cathlete
Morning!

Okay.

So I took my fat / weight measurements and here's what I got.

Plus .4 pds of fat, and plus .8 pds of muscle. Well hey, at least I didn't lose any muscle, right? Besides, it's TTOM, and I was away for 4 days (even though I did really well with my eating and passed on the free ice cream bar - sorry, I just had to write it again because I still can't believe it), so anyway, I'm cool with those numbers. The "real" numbers will start kicking in from next week - I'm looking forward to tweaking my diet and having my cinnamon bun! Err, I mean, tweaking my diet and working out hard! }(

Dana - Congratulations to you for starting your BFL on Monday, just as you said you would. Your menu made me hungry! BFFM mentions about EAS Myoplex MRPs and I've started thinking about buying them - what do you think of them? How did your HIIT go? Do you have to do it fasted? Haha, I know, when I first started up on BFFM two weeks ago I was starving all the time. Wait a minute, in fact, I'm still starving all the time. Maybe it's psychological. ;-)

Janjan - Glad to hear your DD's shots are finished and she got a good nap from them. That reminds me of getting tetanus shots as a kid...they'd give you the shot and then with a black marker they'd make a little animal face out of the puncture wounds on your arm. What a weird thing to do come to think of it. But I guess it was a good thing since I only remember the lion face and not the pain!

Michele - Sounds like you had a nice, romantic weekend with DH! Nice! What movie did you guys see? Did you try out your LIS?

Diane - Ooh, it sounds like you and your DH also had a fantastic, romantic weekend! Choice! I laughed about your nearly "falling to your death" a couple times. We're glad you survived the hiking!

Kate - Can you imagine that George Clooney used to be on The Facts of Life? This is the image I have of him always - sort of as a geek. I can't get past this image for some reason. I must have been watching that show at a very impressionable age. Wait a minute. You are referring to that TV show, right? There isn't an actual Mrs. Garrett at the Kindergarten, is there? And oh yeah, you should feel awful awful awful for ONLY doing 5 days of cardio. Just awful. ;-)

MJ - Beers in both hands on bleachers  ? Now that takes major coordination! Hey, are you encouraged to wear Levi's every day? That would be pretty cool to have first pick of all the new stuff that comes in.

Well, I had Powerstrike Kickboxing up for today but instead did Kickmax because I WANTED to try out those two blasts again }( !! Again, it's absolutely uncanny! Have you all noticed that my rotation has gone into cardio-drive? I'm writing about cardio often these days, aren't I, aren't I? Tomorrow is Bootcamp yet again, and I still even have KPC and KM planned for this week. I'm turning into Kate! Now if I can just grow a little taller, too, I'll be psyched.

August - Congrats on putting on muscle! And I think you may have become a cardio junkie.

I on the other hand have now officially fallen off the wagon. I didn't think it was that bad, but then looked at my calendar and realized that I have only worked out 4 times since I found out that Lucy was sick almost 3 weeks ago. I know it all started when I got really really busy at work and working out stopped becoming a daily occurence. But I still managed to run 4 times a week for 30 min. And then Lucy got sick, and I just completely gave up.

I didn't do anything yesterday and I won't be able to do anything today because I didn't do it this morning. I am really mad at myself because my running endurance is declining daily and I have lost all muscle strength and endurance I ever gained. So I really need to get back on track. It just needs to become my priority. Luckily, I don't think I gained any weight (though I am too scared to check) but it is probably because I lost all my muscle.

So now I am going to try and get back on track. Wish me luck!

Ugh, another hurry today. Love those days. I am so sorry about the cat. I remember when Max died. He was 17, but I keep remembering that he had a good life and he was very spoiled as a cat should (and expects)be.
I am a deadbeat because I am only working out half the days I should this week. I have increased the cardio because I gotta do something about the bodyfat. I think my muscles are where they should be but they are hidden under the fat layer. Plus I gotta lose 15 pounds that I gained with the foot crack. Ugh. I LOVE TO EAT!
So, some of you think you are klutzier (SP?) than me? Well, I challenge you all to a klutz-off! Who is game????

Hi girls!

I had a doctor's appt this morning and that's why I'm so late checking in. I'm happy to report that my cholesterol level has NEVER been better. There's still a little room for improvement on the HDL/LDL ratio but at least they're both within normal limits. I've been on cholesterol lowering drugs since 1999 so it's about time I'm getting good results. I started a new drug about 10 weeks ago so I guess it's working.

I did LIS yesterday. Oh my! I made it all the way through the 1st blast (I can't believe I did a work out that has the word "blast" in it) and then I started having trouble. Kate, I'll accept your klutz challenge. I had some pretty great material for the Dufus DVD, so too bad you weren't here filming. I cannot do all that turning. OMG! I got sick just watching Cathe do it. I guess I did okay considering it was my first try. Let's just say there's a lot of room for growth--lol!

August, I think your numbers are great, especially in view of your circumstances (the trip and TTOM). Congrats to you! Now go get that cinnamon bun}( :p :9 .

Diane, I think you'll see gains very quickly once you start your work outs again. You haven't been out of it for that long. Make a plan of attack that's DOABLE and stick to it. You can do this...you can! It sounds like you got some great exercise on your trip so use that as your jumping in point.

Kate, you're hardly a deadbeat--lol! If you were sitting on the couch stuffing your face full of crap and watching the soaps, THEN I'd call you a deadbeat. I'm sure you're running like crazy with your kids. I'm right there with you on the body fat thing. I need to lose a good bit myself from that YEAR i took off from exercise. Now who's the deadbeat--lol!

Dana, Jana, MJ...what are you gals up to today?

I need to get a move on for now because that appt put me way behind. I'll check back later.

Oh, I almost forgot. My work out today is Total Body Sculpting. It's on the same DVD with LIS.

See ya :)

Michele

Hey ladies!

Michele - I was wondering how you made out yesterday with LIS. I don't do all the turns either. I seriously do get dizzy so when in doubt I just do a basic step.

Diane - I know that you will get back into the swing of things. It is hard when you have a set back but I know that you'll do just fine. And your vacation sounded wonderful - just what you needed.

Kate - I also need to lose bodyfat. I bought a calliper and I'm not even gonna tell you what it reads. No way, no how! And don't you dare feel bad about doing 1/2 days. You are doing something and that is what matters. It is hard when you have little ones.

Jana - what's up? Glad that Marley made it through her doctor's appt fine yesterday. How are you feeling?

MJ - what's on tap for you today?

August - congrats on your muscle gain! :) You are really doing good with your workouts. You kickboxing queen you! To answer your question about Myoplex, I haven't bought the shakes yet. I've been drinking the E.A.S. shakes, they are low-carb and only have 100 calories. I like stawberry the best although the vanilla and choc aren't bad either. The myoplex lite bars are pretty good and yesterday I bought a Myoplex bar at the grocery store - it was so yummy. It was cookies and cream - I think it was around 270 calories and had 28grams of protein.

Yesterday was my first day on BFL and I did so good. Evening was hard for me b/c I had gotten into the habit of snacking (even though I wasn't hungry). I didn't have any snacks last night. So far today I"m doing good. Meals are the same as yesterday except I'm having fish on the grill for dinner tonight. I walked today at lunch (the hill walk) and tonight calls for Upper Body and abs (I think). My HIIT elliptical workout last night was great. Here's the breakdown:
Resistance Level 4: 2 min
Levels 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: 1 min each
Levels 4, 5, 6, 7, 8: 1 min each
Levels 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10: 1 min each
Level 4: 1 min
Level 3: 2 min
My legs were shaking afterwards. I really would prefer to do it fasted but the elliptical is in our bedroom and my DH would not be happy if I woke him up at 4:30 b/c our machine squeaks. I didn't eat for an hour after doing it though. Next HIIT is on Thursday and Sat (should be able to do it fasted then).

Well better get going.

Anyone hear from Char-Char? Guess she must be super busy with her job and everything.

God Day, Ladies!

Yes, I get to wear jeans to work everyday...It's the best part of my job! It was hard to part with Tommy jeans, though...Had been wearing them for YEARS!!

Tuesdays are kind of an "off" day...I'm sure DD and I will take the dog for a bike ride after dinner...

Tomorrow I close, so time for a GREAT hour and a half to 2 hours in the morning...Can't wait to figure out what I'll have on tap!

MJ
