I Hate Cardio - May 22

August

Cathlete
Hey there!

I'm back! Phew! I totally had to laugh when I saw that poor Kate's Sunday entry didn't even get a response! What's going on this weekend?! The post only got 8 views! That's shameful!! x( :)D)

Well, my trip went smoothly. And I was able to do very well with my eating - it was a near miracle. One day I was walking down the street and of all the wacky things being handed out for a promotional stint - free ice cream bars! I turned them down. I actually turned them down :eek:! Something must be wrong with me.

Anyway, I've read up on the posts I missed and feel better now :) . I still have to do my workout today...I've just checked - it's Bootcamp again.

Dana - Yes, of course I did eat the sticky rice that came as a dessert with my cheat meal before my trip! Thank goodness it was a designated cheat meal or I would have had to pass. The cheat meal was Chinese food - except this particular restaurant is sort of like organic healthy Chinese food, so it was a relatively healthy cheat (so sorry to disappoint ;-)). Nevertheless, it was yu-hu-hummy! Hey, did you start up on your BFL? I'm interested to hear how the program goes! I wonder if it is similar at all to BFFM?

Michele - Yeah, I thought about skipping the weekly measurements, but oh, what the heck. I'm going to take them tomorrow morning and just not hope for anything too pretty. I'm having a really bad TTOM, too, I'm not sure why. Too much bloating sticky rice x( ?

Oh and you know, the real word for this sticky rice thing I keep eating is actually called "mochi." Come to think of it, it's probably widely available in the States now, so I should just have said "mochi" from the start. There is such a thing as sticky rice, but it's a bit different from mochi. I think sticky rice is made with coconut milk. Mochi is just smushed up white rice (like the kind of grain of rice that would be in sushi, but without the vinegar). You smush smush smush this rice until it becomes a smooth ball, and then you add toppings (like the sweet bean paste I had mine with). But with the toppings it's goopy and sweet.

Ahh, more mind-boggling, inspirational fodder from August. :-(

Anyway, Michele - according to BFFM, losing a pound or so a week is just right. Much more and you're likely losing muscle or water weight. So it sounds like you're doing great!

Janjan - 3 months of no lower body weights, eh? Well, that sucks. But just think how awesome you can get your upper body! What with summer coming up, you'll be able to flash your sexy biceps!

MJ - Bleacher cardio. That sounds like something you'd need good coordination for.

All right, I guess I'll unpack and clean up and do BC before I lose my gumption.

Be ready to comfort me after I post my next weekly body fat reading. ;)

Morning ladies. Well I had a bad weekend. Did not get in any exercise. And my eating was not good either. But today I did start BFL. Today, my first day, calls for 20 min HIIT, so I'm going to do an interval workout on the elliptical (although I think mine needs batteries). Go figure, the first day on the plan calls for CARDIO. Blech!!! I am still going to do my walks at lunch b/c what else do I have to do anyway?

My eating for today is this:
1: lean ham on high fiber eng muffin
2: 1/2 c ff cottage cheese mixed with ff yogurt
3: chicken breast, 1/2 c barley, asparagus
4: Myoplex-Lite nutrition bar
5: turkey breast, baked sweet potato, broccoli
6: E.A.S. low-carb shake
100 oz water

August: did you take your measurements? How'd you do?

How is everyone else doing? I wasn't on the computer all weekend so I have no idea what you all are up to.

I"ll check back later.

Have a great day all!

Hello everyone,

Sorry no one responded this weekend Kate! 2 pats on the back for doing your cardio!! Did everyone have a good weekend? Mine was busy crazy as usual we got up on Sat early and got all the cars oil changed, stickers updated and some Target shopping. Then the afternoon consisted of cleaning and then having our friends over that night. It was a long day. Yesterday we did some mall shopping and yes I did do my boring cardio..snnoooozzzeeeeeee....dreadmill.....boring....I am over the dreadmill, but keep doing it none the less. I also did PUB yesterday.

Today is DD's day at the Dr...shot day...x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( x( she usually does not feel very good afterwards so it will not be fun today. So I have to run to jump in the shower and get her ready to go. It was nice when the Dr was only 10 mins away, now it's about 30-40....YUCK.....I want to move!!!!

Ok check back in with everyone later!

Have a good Monday!

Good morning!!

Hey, MJ and I both posted Sunday, but we posted on the Saturday thread and that one had 36 views, so there:p :p :p. I am sorry if Kate felt all alone...I hope this makes her feel better:* .

DH and I had a busy weekend, too. We spent it together for the most part (haven't done that in ages) and had a lovely weekend. We went out to dinner Saturday to a very nice Italian restaurant then came home and watched a movie. DH had some work to do yesterday but after he finished we did some running around together and had a nice dinner at home. I didn't do a work out yesterday. The only thing on my rotation was a stretch and I skipped it. Today is LIS so wish me luck.

August!! Welcome back...we missed your random tripe--lol! What are you trying to do, set some kind of a good example or something by passing on the ice cream? Gawd! I'd have taken it and gone back for seconds}( :9 . I'm sending you Bootcamp love ~~~~~~~ and hope you make it through okay.

Dana, here's a little BFL lovin for you ~~~~~! At least your cardio is only 20 minutes...mine is about 40 minutes;(. I hope you have beautiful weather for a walk.

JanJan, it sounds like your house is party central. I swear, everytime you post someone has been to your house for dinner. Where's my invitation:p ? I'm proud of you for sticking it out on the dreadmill. It has to be hard to do something you hate on equiptment you hate. You've got a dual hate thing going on here:eek: . I'm sending you a little "DD getting shots at the doctor" lovin ~~~~~~~.

Kate, you get the gold star for your weekend cardio and unfailing dedication to checking in. Your lonely, desolate post brought a tear to my eye yesterday. I think you didn't notice that MJ and I had already posted Sunday in the Saturday check-in. Sorry. So, what's on tap for you today? I'm sending you lovin for whatever~~~~~!

Diane, I wonder if you're back from your romantic getaway weekend. I hope it was everyting you expected and then some. Here's a little lovin for you, too~~~~~~!

MJ, what's up for you today? Bleachers or store dancing? What kind of store is it and do you own it? Here's some lovin for you~~~~~~~.

I better get going but I'll check in later.

Michele

Hi Everyone -

I was away for a computer since Friday and missed everyone's posts. Sounds like the boards were quiet over the weekend.

Michele - Sounds like your weekend was divine. It is so nice to have a relaxing weekend with your honey.

August - I wish I had your discipline! I can't imagine passing up free ice cream, I usually eat that stuff even if it doesn't taste that good!

Dana - Good luck with BFL. It is kinda fun to eat 6 meals a day, but takes some planning. HIIT really works, so have fun.

Jana - I hope everything goes well at the doctors. Oh, the dreaded shots. I used to hate getting shots. I hate the dreadmill too, but sometimes that is the only way to get in some running.

Kate - Sounds like you were deserted this weekend, but we are back!

Well, I had a lovely vacation. The drive was great because about 3 hours is through the hill country so there is lots of beautiful scenery. Driving past all the farms and ranches makes you realize there is so much more life out there that in the city. We stopped at Becker's Winery a few miles outside Fredericksburg and hung out there for a while. Then went into town and checked in at the B&B. Let me tell you, the B&B is so much better than I even imagined. It had the perfect rustic charm. It was much bigger than I thought, and was really more appropriate for a family, as it had two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room with a day bed. But it was nice to have the space. The little town has some really world class restaurants, I guess some top chefs just wanted to move out to the beautiful hill country, so we had some nice dinners. On Saturday morning, we went to Enchanted Rock and did some hiking. We did the summit climb, which is a hike up 425 ft over a span of .6 miles, so it was very steep and gave me a good workout. Then we climbed down the summit and did a 3 mile hiking trail that was fun, though the terrain was more tretcherous than I imagined. I wish I had hiking boots, not just running shoes, because I almost fell to my death a few times (well, not really). There was also some great shopping there, though I showed great restraint and didn't buy anything.

All and all a great trip!

Yeah, everyone is back. Everyone except me. I have to go to school early today and that takes my working out off the schedule (darn). and tomorrow the children are getting together to work on their talent show offering. The kids are singing a Hilary Duff (this is my second child-loving Hilary Duff)song. Ten Kindergarten children. Very cute. One of the mothers has sining experience and wow, is she working on them. I told her she should join the group and she can be like Mrs. Garrett.
I feel like such a deadbeat not working out, but I have decided to cut the cardio to five days per week. It is horrible, ugh. I realize that the time passes whether or not I do cardio but why does it feel like one is aging more quickly during those agonizing minutes?
And Cardiohatingville is in Texas. Is this a vacation resort destination or something? I would love to plan a trip there as soon as they kids are too old to want to go to Disneyland every other year.
You all have a great day. I feel so guilty!!!!

Diane, your trip sounds wonderful! DH and I love to stay in B&B's when we travel. They're so much more relaxing and romantic than a standard hotel. They have a charm that just can't be duplicated. Welcome back to the real world and I hope you don't get slammed at work.

Kate, sometimes I don't know when you're kidding--lol! Do you really feel like a deadbeat for only doing cardio FIVE days!?!?!?!? Gawd, that seems like a lot to me for someone who hates cardio--lol! Dont' feel guilty now, ya hear!? I agree, the capitol of Cardiohatersville would appear to be somewhere in Texas. The kiddies program sounds very cute:+

I still haven't done my cardio...so what else is new?...But I will, I swear!

Michele

Yes to answer the question, Cardiohatesville is here in Texas. Hey, it's a big state so I am going to name a town, there is always a town up for sale in this place. All right.....down the list:

August~ sticky rice sounds real yummy.....don't tempt me! hehe!!
I am on the wagon again and doing well, just really wanting something to eat, I am starving for some reason...don't know why???....ok so you were doing Bootcamp...lucky girl. Oh how I miss bootcamp. I can't wait to do it again..soon...soon....

Michele~ uhhemm....why have you not done your cardio yet? I thought it was LIS day and I wanted to hear all about it. Best get to doin' that cardio missy....I am sending you a round trip plane ticket to Cardiohatesville for my recovery time. You DH won't mind if I borrow you for a few days will he? hehe...

Diane~ oh the mini vacation sounds fantastic. I love the hill country. My "real" mom lives up there and it's nice. I do hope you got some well needed rest and relaxation.

Kate~ ummm...please tell me you are kidding? woman 5 days in a row of cardio and you took a day off, You deserve a day off!!!! enjoy it!!!

Dana~ I got a fab new WW cookbook at Costco this weekend. It had a lot of good rec'ps in it and the points breakdown. I am with the HIIT training for cardio, I just have to do mine on the dreadmill walking at inclines. I got up to 12 the other day and man I was huffing! I switch between that and circuit which I like. Toasty helped me with that one, 10 mins of warm up, weights, 10 mins cardio, weights, 10 min cardio, and weights. Its a good break down. What are you doing for your cardio? Let me know your progress.

Ok, so DD got the fun ole' shots today, not too bad. She cried big time after the 2nd one and then slept the whole way home. I am tired and have lots and lots of crap to do. Living in the party house means clean the house 24/7! Here is a scary thought for everyone (Diane you can relate to this)....my Master's is costing 67K....OMG I just looked at all of it, I will be in student loan hell for the rest of my life....I so need to win the lotto......

That's all she wrote for now.

Hope everyone is fab!!!

August-Bleachers are even more challenging when you have a beer in each hand (no-not both were mine!!)!!

Michelle-I'm the store manager for one of the Levi's outlets up here in MN...Didn't dance around the store today...Too busy (Monday!)!!!

Todays cardio was running the dog before work...I swore after being in track in high school that I'd never run again unless someone was chasing me, but have ALMOST started to like it...Yesterday did GS chest and tri's...Tonight will be back, bi's and shoulders...

I PROMISE that SLH (student loan hell) goes away eventually...Though I think winning the lotto would help (though not a tax deducion)...Maybe we should all go in on some tickets??? Hmmm...Food (calorie free) for thought!
