I Hate Cardio - May 18

Usually I wait until it's more into the 18th...but I couldn't wait!

OH MY GOSH! :eek: :p :eek: :p

You guys! I had a TOTALLY different attitude about doing KM today. Going into it knowing that I would be doing only blasts 2 & 3 of the blasts section definitely made the entire workout more enjoyable (may I say that about cardio?) and less self-defeating. I ended up actually enjoying the two blasts (um, or at least I think I did two blasts - does she not announce the 3rd one?). When I got to the end of the two blasts, I even thought of doing one more :eek: ...but then I decided to stop myself while I was ahead. ;-)

Anyway, it was really fantastic! Thanks you guys for encouraging me again to try that out!

One funny thing happened during the leg drills as I was enjoying my trickling sweat - the doorbell rang. I was going to ignore it but it turned out to be the delivery guy with my order of whey protein. Can't ignore that! So I open the door and he looks sort of surprised to see me in my apartment sweating. As I'm signing the form and handing him the moolah, the other delivery I ordered arrived - protein bars for my upcoming 4-day trip since I know I won't be able to eat my five meals properly. This new guy looks surprised to see me signing someone else's form sweatin up a storm. Both boxes they delivered were clearly marked as like "BODYBUILDING MEGATHIS!" and "HARD MUSCLE FLEXMYTHAT!" I'm sure those guys must have walked out to their respective delivery trucks going, "what the he*l was that sweaty foreigner all about?"

Oh, one thing about the blasts - they aren't marked for fast-forwarding are they. You have to speed through them and sort of guess where the next blast is? That's sort of a bummer. Oh well. No biggy. Anyway, now I'm totally excited to try another two out!

Michele!!!!!!!!!! I just read your most recent post!! OHMYGOSH! That is so $%^&%(* awesome!!!!!!!! You did what you wanted to accomplish and now you can move on to LIS (or whatever) knowing that you succeeded your goal! Jeez, I'M getting teary-eyed! Good for you!! :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

I feel so excited! I'm hoppin' in the shower! (Just finished my blueberry/strawberry egg white oatmeal peanut butter post-workout recovery meal so that might also be why I'm slightly hyper }( .)

August - kudos to you and your blasts. The last time I did KM I did a few of the blasts, then I tried to go to the next one but of course like you mentioned I went right though them. What a shame! :p And I liked your little story about your delivery men. You're nuts!

Michele - yeah for you!!!! You are awesome. So when are you planning on tackling LIS? I KNOW you'll do great.

Diane - I checked out your post from yesterday. Your mini-vacation sounds fab. That B&B is absolutely gorgeous. Have a great time!

Kate - are you doing cardio today or are you slacking?

Jana - are you slacking today or doing something? I can't imagine how frustrating it is to try and find a workout to do that doesn't bother your knees. I know that there are only so many UB workouts one can do. Gannon does not like the exersaucer anymore. As soon as I introduced him to the walker the exersaucer was history (in his book that is). I still put him in the exersaucer when I workout or when I get a shower.

Last night I did the intermediate workout for the rebounder. The routine itself is very easy to follow but I don't know if I"m not doing it correctly or if it is just b/c it is something new but my shins and calves hurt while I"m doing the workout. I was tired when I did it so I skipped part of it. At least I got part of it in.
Not sure if I"ll get in a walk today or not. The weather is calling for downpours and thunderstorms late this afternoon. And hopefully I'll get in some type of LB workout this evening.

August, YAY!!!!! It looks like the old "divide and conquer" strategy really works! I'm so excited for you. There must have been something in the air last night that we both conquered our greatest foe. I think you should attack the blasts by addin them on one at a time.--Love the delivery story! When is your trip? Will you be able to post while you're gone? We would miss you terribly if you couldn't. I have come to rely on you to start us off everyday--lol!

Dana, overall, what so you think of the rebounder? I've been on the fence about getting one for a long time now. I really can't afford one at the moment but I like gathering opinions about it. What is the intermediate work out? Is this a work out that came with it? As for walking today, I know what you mean about the weather. It has done nothing but rain here for days and days. Right now the sun is shining but we're supposed to have thunderstorms later on. We had big storms last night. Oh well, at least my lawn looks fabulous--lol!

Kate, I just saw your post about your knee for the first time this morning. I think you better cool it with the cardio for now. Really, I'm not just saying that because we hate cardio--lol! You have to take care of your knees--they bear so much over the course of a lifetime, you shouldn't risk severe or permanent damage. Rent a good movie and put you legs up!

JanJan, I'm patiently waiting for your picturetrail. My gosh, if I could do it you can--I've got the computer IQ of an imbecile:eek: So, what's on tap for you today? More dreadmill? I hate treadmills more than anything. They are the ultimate in boring fitness torture. Have you thought about trading it in for an elliptical trainer? I wouldn't mind getting one of those. They're probably better for your knees than a dreadmill.

Diane, one more work day and you're off for a fabulous and romantic weekend getaway! Oh, how I wish I were doing that. I hope you have a great time---get in a lot of good exercise and relaxation. I can't wait to hear about it when you get back!

MJ, welcome to your first full day in Cardiohateville! So, what's on tap for you today? Maybe you should get Cathe's Wedding Work out--lol!

My rotation calls for abs and stretching but I'll probably tack on a Leslie Sansone DVD with it. LIS comes up for me on Monday. I might preview it today.

Yeah, my knee. But I am ready to be punished again for all my bad past deeds. I did something to my knee, perhaps broke my burse sac. I fell really hard five weeks ago. I doesn't hurt but.....oh well. I can do weights, yes? Can I do them with lighter weights so that I get some aerobic thing going?
Help me please, I am a cardio junkie. See what this knee thing is doing to me??? It has made me INSANE. Apparently the only time a person wants to do cardio is when they are hurt. It can't be the other way, oh no, of course not. Can't go the way that is healthy for you. Never.
Oh well, I am going to try really light stuff. Darn darn darn
I hope everyone is doing well. I hope you are not going off the deep end like yours truly.

Hello ladies;

no slacking today, just the old lady workout. Kate---GO GET THE KNEE LOOKED AT!!! not yelling, just telling you to go and get it checked out. You very well could end up like me needing surgery and trust me if I would have slowed down a bit I more than likely could have put off surgery for a few more years, but no..did I listen??? no..so now I am miserable and in pain all the time. Walking up the stairs is an every day adventure...by the time I put DD to bed I can almost not make it up the stairs. It's not a good thing. You need your knee!

Well I made it through the old lady version on KM and some of GS legs, did the squats with only 25lbs, and did not go down to a 90' angle. Did the deadlifts and the floor work but I am just not myself without my all my limbs working well. It sucks. Man oh Man I am over it!

hehehe....was that you yesterday! I am sooo proud of you!!! I knew you could do it. Now on to LIS and I want the full report! Picture trail, woman I have not had time to get with it. I have all the pictures uploaded but its the techy stuff I can't figure out. I am working on it, just slow. DD is getting much more active so I don't get a lot of time to myself. I am poky.

that was you during your KM workout! I am really proud of you!!!! Keep it up! How is the BFFM doing? Any more muscle loss or weight loss? Keep me updated on that one.

Dana~ You will have to take some pics of Gabe with his teeth! I am sure he looks soooo cute! Today is the first meal in the highchair, DH finally put it together this morning after 1 month of asking him to do it. She looks so cute in it! I will be taking pics! heheeee..

Diane~ when is the vacation? I bet it will be a nice break for you and your DH. Sounds like a lot of fun! Oh I miss those vacation days, I soooooo need a vacation.

Jana you've got my boys mixed up. Gannon is the baby and Gabe is 5. I can certainly post Gabe's mouth of teeth though. HA!!!

Michele - I think I have to do some more rebounder workouts to really love it. I like it but don't think I'll use it all the time. I get bored very easily and I know that if I used it all the time I would tire of it. Yes, it came with a DVD. It has 2 workouts on it: beginner and intermediate
 
Yesterday I ended up doing PP Upper (2x's) instead of Upper Body portion of SS...Today it's a double dose of lower (PP)...

Ok, so I got this DVD from McDonald's yesterday...The cardio (ick-blah) one?? It's LAME...But I think I'll use the step portion as a warm-up today...It can't hurt, right?? And it's only 15 minutes...And hopefully won't make me trip on these feet of mine??

yeah, I can have the knee looked at but I don't have insurance so if they tell me that I need something, I won't be able to have anything done. I just gotta grin and bear it. I does not hurt and if I take it easy and don't do any jumping then it should be fine. I am just so angry at myself for falling--what a klutz.
 
Don't be angry at yourself, girl I have taken sooo many falls. I am such a klutz! At least promise you will rest, ice, compress, and elevlate (duh so sp wrong)...take it easy, don't stress it. Lots of ice and if it gets worse call a Dr.
 
Thank you MarleyMom from Cardiohatersville (that sounds like a vacation destination!). I read all about it and learned that if it does not hurt or get worse, then just take it easier than usual. So....I did one half hour of PowerMax and L&G today. Love L&G (without Slow Motion Lunges and that darn box thing. I hate step-ups. Ugh, they make me feel like I am doing cardio)and I feel great. Well, I felt great after I was done, I mean.

Hi Everyone -

I was out of the office all day today so didn't have time to check in. I will be on vacation tomorrow through the weekend so I won't be able to check in for a few days. I can't wait to be out of town though and just get away!

No workout again today, it has just been a crazy week. Tonight I have a summer associate recruiting dinner (Jana- its at Aries, which has now changed its name to Pic, dumb name). Should be fun, just a group of girls, so I'm guessing there will be pink and fruity martinis involved. I will definitely have to get some workouts in over vacation. I know our room has a dvd player and a big living room area, so maybe I will even bring Kickmax or something. Or would that be too crazy? I know I will be hiking and maybe biking, and maybe even go for a jog, so that may be enough.
