I Hate Cardio - May 16

August

Cathlete
Hi, guys!

You know, one thing is damn plain clear - you guys ain't never had a good bowl of sticky rice! LOL!

I have KPC lined up for my next workout. That means one thing to me - banana oatmeal egg white pancake recovery meal. YES! :9

And I've discovered that I also have Kick Max later this week - and we all know what that means! I'm committed to doing 2 blasts!

And...what the?!...Body Max is also on my rotation this week. And we all know what that means, too. (Fear/some self-disgust ;) .)

Diane - I'm so sorry to hear about Lucy and that you had to put her down earlier than you thought you would. You made the right decision. That must have been such a difficult decision - knowing it's the right thing to do, yet wanting to hold on longer. It's good to hear that the emergency pet hospital staff were kind. Good for you to look to the future with your upcoming new kitten. Like Dana said, I'm sure she won't replace Lucy, but will bring such a warm comfort to your home. Ooh, I love Kate's idea of taking two!

Michele - How's your sight? Ahh, new glasses needed, eh? Get some cool ones! What in the world is a "gliding" workout? Is this some form of cardio that I should be looking into? Sounds easier than stepping. Anyway, good to hear you're feeling inspired.

Dana - I've been living in Japan now for nearly ten years and love it. Oh, I hear you about GS. Only, it was the legs one that really got me. The DOMS were so bad that I wondered if I should go see a doctor! LOL! Really! I guess I'd never experienced them that bad before. I literally couldn't stand up straight - talk about Fit to Sit or whatever it's called LOL. How obnoxious about CCIS and their not calling you back. That would really be evil if it has something to do with the Wednesday deadline....Oh wait, I just got to your 2nd post. Great news about CCIS! Yeah! :7

Kate - If I love sticky rice and it's not good for me then yes - LOL! Actually, the thing is, when I wasn't eating this healthy, I never craved it. Personally, I've always thought of myself as a chocoholic, but now that I'm eating so clean, I find myself craving weird things that I never used to crave - like a Subway Tuna sandwich. Uncanny. I might have to force myself to have the cinnamon roll. Well, maybe not force...Ugh, insterstitial cystitis - that is whacked. Then again, doing Leaner Legs AND Turbo Jam on the same day is also whacked ;-) . Maybe that insterstitial cystitis is a good thing! Actually, what with all the water I take in, I'm in the bathroom most of the day anyway! Oh, and keep ignoring those dummies who tisk you when you use the special toilets. My dad had a heart condition, so he always used to use the special parking spaces and we'd get the tisks from time to time - so unkind and so unthinking.

Jana - Hahah, when I read KFC, for a second I was trying to figure out which Cathe workout that was. You know, a couple years ago I was "fortunate" to catch a news report - it was a ten-second shot from a hidden camera of three men "tending" to chickens that would be used for restaurants, specifically KFC. The cruel things these men were doing to the chickens was enough to make me sick to my stomach and from that moment on, I vowed never to eat KFC again. Hope I didn't bum out anyone with that gem of a post.

I do eat lots of chicken breast...organic...where they treat the chickens um, nicely. :+

All right, so in closing, I'll tell you that I took my weekly measurements to see how my first week on BFFM went.

Please, quiet in the audience. Drum roll please.

1.2 pounds of fat loss and 1.3 pounds of muscle loss. YEAH! :) BOO! ;( YEAH! :) BOO! ;( I've referred to the book and it tells me that if this is the result I have in the first week, to just give it another week and see what happens.

Hopefully my upcoming cinnamon roll cheat meal will assist in my keeping that muscle on this week...:D

August

P.S. I'm going to try to stop writing such marathon posts. It must be awful to wake up to so many words.

Good morning August, and all you other haters out there.

Okay, I did Body Fusion yesterday and I have good news and bad news. The good news is, I figured out how to do those pivots! and about half of the 3rd cardio combo; the bad news...I did all of it at a lower intensity. I'm just so friggin happy that I don'thave to do it again today. For the portion of the 3rd combo that I couldn't do, I modified with corner to corner knee ups. Today is the lower body add on from BS.

August, congratulations on your fat loss...I'm so sorry about your muscle loss:) :-( . Fear not, I love your posts. You're definitely not a drone! You have a great sense of humor that jump starts my day with a spark. I understand what you mean about craving weird things. I crave pasta and I could eat it everyday...and not that ghastly WW stuff! I love whole grains, just not in my pasta--lol! But still, I just don't think there is any way you could serve rice that would make me think of it as a cheat meal. I live on chicken and I could probably write my own cookbook on 47966548 ways to prepare it:7 . I'm thinking about making some cacciatore tonight:9 . Good luck on your KPC, KM, and BM...and how about your pancake recipe!?

Diane, I'm so glad to hear your mom is in remission from Chron's disease. I'll keep her in my prayers that she stays that way. My BIL has Chron's as well. He had an ileostomy when he was a teenager, but at 45 he's doing great. How are you doing on your work outs? Have you been able to get another run in?

Jana, I keep waiting to see a picture trail! Have you figured out how to do it? I'm sorry I couldn't be of any help to you. It took me several days just to figure out how to post on a forum--lol! I'm not that savvy when it comes to computers. I seem to recall that the picture trail website has fairly good instructions, but I could never explain to anyone how I got my pictures up. I just know it took me forever. What's going on for you today? When do you go back to the doctor?

Kate, I think you're the queen of cardio! My gosh, for someone who hates it you sure do like to beat yourself up with it--lol!

Dana, you and your DH must feel like you've had a weight lifted from your shoulders. Have you been able to get any walks in? I don't know whats happening where you live, but around here it's been raining for days! I'm so sick of it. We haven't had any flooding, it's mostly been a light/drizzly kind of rain. My lawn looks great, though! I'm longing for a little ray of sunshine. It's been really cool, too, like in the 50's. I thought maybe if the weather's been icky you may have had some extra work out time as a result of cancelled soccer games.

Char Char, how's your job coming along? Have you been able to get your work outs in?

I'll catch you gals later.

Michele

:)

You're living in Japan now? Are you working there or do you love the humidity? I was wondering since I hear that most Japanese are thin, perhaps the humidity burns more calories and if that is the case, then I am going to move to Florida for the summer. If it is not true, then well, I will stay here in humidity free Sacramento. Hey, am I the cardio hater who lives closest to you?
I am glad that you are eating away at the sticky rice. If it is that good. I really should eat cleaner, that is where my problem lies, I believe. But eating is so great, so wonderful, so much fun.
Last night I ate pizza. I guess things would be much worse if I didn't work out, I suppose. Oh well.
Today, I am going to do 60 fun-filled (is this what sarcasm is?) minutes of cardio. I think a mix of PowerMax and LowMax. After that some sort of ab work. Yesterday I was thinking I should do Leaner Legs twice instead of doing the Turbo Jam. But then I came to my senses.
Turbo Jam is okay. I think it is one of those things that are fun at first but get stale really fast. I only do one of the Turbo Jams every other week but I must say that I love AbJam.
So, that is the fun for today. I am in the Kindergarten class today. Four more weeks of school. I am crying. Now I know why my mother had a count down calendar for the first day of school. One child is easy but when you do the sibling thing-----HELP!!!!

Hi Everyone -

Once again I did no workout yesterday. I need to stop this now! So today I brought my gym bag and I am going to lift weights during lunch. I need to get back to running too, before I lose everything I have gained.

Well, the summer associate season has started, which will be horrible on my diet. During the summer, law students are chosen to work here at the law firm, and we take them out to fancy lunches and dinners every day and have extravagent parties catered with yummy food. We are trying to convince them to come do the grueling work that I do and get them used to this lifestyle so that they come back and join the firm after law school. I gained like 15 pounds when I was a summer associate several years ago! But it is fun at the same time, I get to go to restaurants I would never pay for on my own, and order insane amounts of food and bottles and bottles of wine. But I have to feed the poor law students the same lie that I bought into, that you can have a normal life at a law firm! Haha. And the cycle continues.

We found out yesterday that we can't get a new kitten in the house for 3-6 months, so we can't have one of my friend's kittens. My vet originally told me one month, then he checked with his brother, who is a vet that deals solely with cats, and he said 3 months minimum. DH and I were getting hopefully about a new kitty, but now we have to wait. Oh well, we need to be safe.

Hola Haters,

What's going on with everyone today? Sounds like it is already busy today. Let me go down the list:

August~ Japan? Awesome. Wow. If you don't mind me asking how did you end up there? Work? Ok now on the KM..repeat after me...I CAN DO THESE BLASTS AND I WILL DO THESE BLASTS!. You can do it, I have full confidence in you. FYI you might want to skip the 1st one because that is a real hard one and if you try it and it is real hard, you might not want to do the other one. Just work at a pace that you can do, but push yourself. You will be happy you did. I know you are going to do great. Give the update as soon as you do!

Michele~ No i am still a 'tard and can't figure out the pic trail..Calling everyone with a pic trail sos need help! I have the pic uploaded, I can't get the URL to read correct. Does that make sense? I am lost. I am waiting to hear about LIS, I know you are going to freak at first, but I give it 2 tries before you are a LIS pro! Come on...I am waiting. As for the Dr, well I go on Fri to schedule surgery, but I found out I can't do it until July...UHHHHHHH.....DH can't take any time off of work until then and since it's just us taking care of DD we have to work together. So, I am still doing the "sit and be fit" old lady workouts, just walking. I tried CK again today, even low impact and yeah no go. I am soooooooo frustrated with this. Upper body is starting to look pretty good and the abs are coming along. Just do some cardio for me!

Dana~ Ok, so is everything good with the day care situation? I do hope so. How is your challenge going? How was your mother's day? Did the boys smother you in kisses?? I think I spelled that wrong...

Diane~ Well, it is a good thing you double checked on when you can get a kitty. There are soo many kitty's that need a great loving home so even if you have to wait I know you will find one to love. Sending you good workout vibes for today!

Char Char...I miss Char Char!!!

Kate~ Woman you are a hard worker! You are killer with cardio no wonder you hate it so much! heheeee!!! I guess you can take up the slack for me since I am on the DL. You think you hate cardio, just imagine having to walk on the dreadmill for 45 mins everyday...can we say oh so boring!

Ok I have to go DD is having a fit so I will check back with you guys later!

Have a good Tuesday everyone!
JanJan

Michele - So you have the pics uploaded into picturetrail, but can't get the website to show up correctly on your signature?

The website you post in your signature should just be www.picturetrail.com/ and then add whatever your picturetrail user name is. Let me know if that is the problem, and if not, I can figure it out.

Hi Diane!

I'm so sorry you have to wait to get your kitten. Could your friend possibly keep 1 (or 2}( ) for you until you can take them? You can go and visit them in the meantime.

I would take full advantage of the generous "lunch program" at work. You deserve the perk with all the hours you put in. Even in my profession--nursing, you just can't know what the job will be like until you're actually doing it, so don't feel bad, like you're leading someone down the garden path and straight to hell or something. If they're doing internships, then they must have some idea of what is involved.

Jana is the one who needs help with a picture trail. I couldn't help her because I did mine so long ago that I can't remember how to do it. Even if I did remember how, I could never explain it to someone else...I'm so mentally deficient--lol!

Jana, I'm sorry you have to wait until July for your surgery. I'm sure you're anxious to be done with it, at least I know I was when I had surgery. I do want pictures of your Sit and be Fit work out, though. Oooohhh, I'll bet you look hot doing that. Hell, I may try it--lol! Gosh, I wish I could help you out. I still say you should call your mommy. Isn't that what they're for?

Michele

Sorry Michele, I meant to send to Jana.

We thought about keeping the kittens at either my friend's house or DH's parents' house until we could have them. But my friend has three kids and they would probably get really attached to the kitten in 3 months and we would feel bad taking it away. And I think the same would be for DH's parents, we would feel like we were taking away their kitten at that point. They have another older cat in the house, and I think they also a little freaked out that we may get their cat sick with this new kitten after see what we went through with Lucy. Anyway, we will find another kitten once the three months are over and hopefully from a family we know.

JanJan, the treadmill is the ultimate 20th century torture device. Or maybe earlier, I think it was also featured in Dante's Inferno. How does one underline words????

Afternoon haters!

Michele - the weather here has been crappy. I did manage to get out for a walk today. Yes soccer was cancelled last night but somehow I hurt my shoulder and it is killing me. I was trying to think of something that didn't require me moving my arm but everything (except walking) you need to move your arms. So Gabe and I played pac-man and digdug when I should've been working out. }(

Diane - I'm so sorry that you have to wait to get a kitty. I'm sure you'll have your house all ready when it is time for the new kitty (or kitties) arrival. And your summer program sounds yummy!!!

Jana - I have a PT account but don't ask me URL, blah, blah, blah questions. I'm clueless when it comes to those kinds of terms. But I found it pretty easy to set up my account.

August - no way are your posts too long. You are funny and I enjoy reading them.

Kate - I'm with you on the treadmill thing. I love to walk but when I'm on one of those things I'm just walking and walking and getting nowhere. The only time I don't mind using it is if I"m doing intervals and then I have something to focus on.

The challenge is over. I have no focus, no motivation at all. I need to refocus and do something. I'm debating on whether I should stick it out with WW or try something else. I"ve really been slacking w/WW. When I lost 30lbs 2 years ago it was so easy. I started WW in Jan at a size 14 and by April 20 I was down 30 lbs and was a size 8. The only cardio I did was walking and at that time the only Cathe's workouts that I had was MIS. This time WW is not working for me. I started BFL last Jan but after 3 weeks into it (and a loss of 7 lbs), I found out I was pregnant so I stopped. So I"m trying to figure out if I want to attempt BFL again. I never did HIIT but I do like the idea of it. For us cardio haters it sounds ideal - only 25 minutes of cardio. School is out on June 2 and we have a weight room in the gym that we can use so I'm thinking of going over there during lunch. I love to use leg machines and there is some type of "homegym" over there as well as BRAND NEW rowing machines, ellipticals and recumbent bikes. Not sure if there is a treadmill or not.

Well, better get back to work.

Have a great day ladies! :)

Hi Dana - Don't give up! We are here for you! Maybe you just need something new to get your motivation going again. If doing BFL again will get you motivated, then do it! Get excited. Look at the before and after pictures in the book. Whatever you need to do to get motivated. I am at that stage right now too, where I am just frustrated with myself for not sticking to my plans. I try and focus on too many things at one time and then get overwhelmed and let other things fall to the wayside. I know that it is best to make small goals so that you can accomplish several goals on the way to your ultimate goal and that will help you stay motivated. Don't think about losing 30 pounds, but about finishing all your planned workouts that week, or being able to do X number of pushups, or eating clean for 5 whole days in a row. Then you will be able to stay motivated longer. I am working on that now, finding a new goal. I accomplished one goal, running for 30 minutes straight, and now I kinda lost motivation, so thinking of my next big thing to get excited about.
