I Hate Cardio - May 15

August

Cathlete
Hi there,

Nice Mother's Day I Hate Cardio thread. Funny!

Michele - Not just plain ol' rice, sticky rice! I'm talkin' about the sweetened, slightly goopy rice stuff you sometimes get for dessert at a Thai restaurant (it's called something like Coconut Mango Sticky Rice). Only, I had mine with sweet red bean paste. Dogs do not like sticky rice! (Come to think of it, maybe they do.) As for why I can post in the middle of the night - it's because I live in Asia and it's daytime here when it's nighttime over there. I am definitely going to put more thought into my cheat meal next week. Oh, and there you go talking about your Volcano Cake again! I've gotta tell you that that sounds absolutely mouth-watering. If that thing was at my place, it....well, it wouldn't be at my place for long. Nope, no children. No husband. No pets. Just a plant and it's barely hanging in there.

Kate - Sticky rice! Sticky rice! It's sweetened and it's sticky! And I ate it with sweet, goopy red bean paste! It's not just plain ol' boring white rice! I don't even like white rice! I don't even much like fried rice! But still, I should have gone with the sticky bun. As for humidity, Asia would blow your socks off in the summer. Of course, as I told you, I'm not the sweating kind so this doesn't affect me one bit. Or at least it never has. Wouldn't that be funny with my change of diet that now in the summers I'm sweating a ton? You have...Instersysimwhattheh*ll? Is there nothing a doctor can do? That sounds absolutely horrible! How on earth do you do cardio six days a week on top of not sleeping a sound night? You must be mighty!

Well, according to BFFM (right, Michele, right?!), I'm to take my fat/pound measurements again, being that it has been one full week. If I lost fat and maintained muscle, three cheers to sticky rice and me! But if I lost muscle, shame on me and blasted sticky rice! And if I gained fat, well you know where that takes me and the sticky rice.

I did my Power Hour. I loved it. x(

.......................:-(... x(

How you others doing out there? :D

I am sooo late for an appointment. August, you're such a kick! Where is everybody!?
I have an eye appt like NOW, but I'll be back later.

Hi everyone -

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day.

Sunday was not a good day for me. We had to put Lucy down on Sunday, several days earlier than we had thought. Her body just all of a sudden gave up and we knew it was time. She went from barely eating anything on Friday and Saturday, to refusing to eat at all. She was just not herself, and it seemed she was barely there. Then on Sunday, her body just lost control, and she peed herself without even realizing it, and just looked up at me so scared. So we knew it was time. We had to take her to an emergency animal hospital, because our regular vet was closed. When we got to the hospital, she start throwing up all over the lobby before we could even check in. Her little body just all of a sudden shut down. Everyone at the hospital was very nice and made the process as comforting as it could be. I am glad that she is no longer suffering now. It was just so hard to go through.

But a silver lining in all of this is that one of the other hostesses of the baby shower I had at my house on Saturday has a cat that just had kittens. They will be old enough to take home in about four weeks. My DH and I are glad that we are excited about taking home a new kitten and loving it, because I was afraid it would take me a long time to be ready for a new pet again. So we are trying to look towards to future and be happy for the time we had with Lucy.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day. I didn't workout much this weekend, just a short run Sunday morning before all of this happened. I'm not sure what I will do today, but I want to do something when I get home from work.

Good morning haters!

Diane I'm so sorry about Lucy. I wish I could give you a big hug. I"m glad that you are getting a new kitty. Although she'll never replace Lucy, your new kitty will be sure to warm your heart rather quickly.

August, I had no idea that you lived in Asia. How long have you lived there? I had to go back and find the thread that referred to sticky rice. Sorry but that doesn't sound very appealing. I'm with Michele that you certainly could've found something better for your cheat meal!

Jana - I had to laugh at the sit to be fit or whatever the heck it is called. Sometimes I"ll be flipping through the channels at 5:00am when I'm having my breakfast and I see that lady's show. I don't know how she doesn't put her audience to sleep with her monotone voice and no personality. How was your mother's day?

Kate - you doin' cardio today or what girl?

I didn't do anything over the weekend. Friday I walked and then I did GS chest & triceps in the evening. I swear that has got to be Cathe's hardest weight training workout. I can do a whopping 4 real push ups and then I had to do the rest on my knees. And I don't know how she can do the entire workout with 20lbs. I only use 12lbs. I know that I could get through the first 3 sets of bench presses with 15's but I know that I'd have to drop so I just use 12's the entire time. I felt ok on Sat, just a bit sore but nothing major. But yesterday, YOWZA!!! I went to turn over in bed and I could not move. I thought something was wrong with me. LOL But then I woke up and realized it was from Friday's workout.

Not sure what I'm doing today. Right now it is raining so I don't know if it'll clear up in the next hour. Gabe was supposed to have soccer tonight but if it rains all day that will be cancelled.

CCIS have still not called me back. When I called there on Friday the office girl told me that she would give it to the caseworker first thing Monday morning. I'll wait til about 2:00 and call if I don't hear from them. They are really starting to annoy me. How hard is it for her to call and say yes or no?????? I have until Wed to appeal and I swear they are waiting til Wed to notify me so I can't appeal.

Well, better get back to work.

Later gators!

I don't know about the rice, still......where is the cheese? But if you love it and it isn't good for you, then, well....YES!!!
Diane, I am so sorry about your beloved pet. I love all my babies and it is heartbreaking when one goes. We took in three kitten brothers a couple of years ago and they are the best. They are confident, loving and all love each other--something not common in cats. Why don't you take two kittens--that way they will always have the confidence of having a sibling around.
I have insterstitial cystitis which basically means that I have "shrunken painful bladder". I am tired most of the time, but actually it helps during cardio, because I really am not aware of what I am doing so sometimes the time goes by faster...............but not today---I did Leaner Legs and Turbo Jam and Turbo Jam is so annoying that I wasn't sure what I was doing so maybe bladder diseases are a good thing, well, maybe not. Whatever, there is nothing that can be done so one just has to deal with it. Enough of that

Lately, I have been so annoyed with my ancestors. I don't appreciate that fact that their bodies were always prepared for the starvation mode, making it hard to lose weight. My ancesteral babes were all pears and pears never have problems keeping the weight off the hips. So, ancestors, thanks for nothing! There I said it, I feel better.

Kate I'm a pear too. I hate pears. Why couldn't I be a stalk of celery?????? Or even a banana - with just that slight curve. But NOOOOO, we've got bam, big ol hips. **sigh**

Good news . . . I contacted CCIS and we are still eligible and my co-pay is actually lowered this time. I have to send another quarterly report in August but at least we have time to get to the accountant and have it done.

Hi girls (sorry ladies)

How is everyone today? Got to be quick, been sooo busy lately with DD and all the other crap.

Dana~ happy dance!

Diane~ So sorry to hear about Lucy, but just take comfort in knowing she had a wonderful life with you and DH and was so loved. I know you miss her. It is good that you guys are going to open your hearts to a new kitty and give that kitty a new home with lots of love.

Michele~ tell us about the cardio....is it time for LIS yet?

August~ girl, rice is not enough, throw in some sake or something..come on make us proud. I know there is a KFC in Asia....

Kate & Dana~ ah yes I too suffer from having hips and a big bubble butt. I did not however suffer that bad until I preggo with DD, good god the hips came out of no where and they have yet to leave. Keep in mind though, if you are going to be blessed with the hip fat, it is the better kind of fat to have for health reasons. Any better? No, well I tried. It does stink. Running and kickboxing is all I can say and eating really well. Then if all else fails, lipo (just kidding).

Ok you guys have a great day. I will try to check back in later.

BBL..a.k.a. JanJan

Hello everybody!

Diane, {{{{{BIG SQUEEZY HUGS}}}}} for you and your DH. We've been through this 3 times in the past 2 years (we had to put down 1 cat and 2 dogs). It's never easy. I'm glad you're getting a new kitty, and waiting 4 weeks is just the right amount of time. I agree with Kate and would get 2 kitties. It's so much fun to watch them play and frolic together.

I just got back from the eye doctor and running a few errands. Well hell, no wonder I can't see--lol! My distance vision is much worse than it was 2 years ago but my reading vision is about the same. It looks like I'll be getting some new glasses x( .

I was supposed to move on to LIS, but I decided to repeat last week's rotation since I really never did last week's rotation. I feel slightly more energized and optimistic than I did a week ago, so hopefully I'll have better luck with Body Fusion this time around. I ordered some Mindy Mylrea gliding work outs over the weekend. I just wanted to try something different for a change but I haven't figured out how I'll work them into my rotation....I have no idea what my body type is. I'm a fruit salad! I need work all over.

August, I don't care what you put in the rice...it's STILL rice. Like Jana said, there must be a KFC over there somewhere, now find it and get yourself a 3 piece dinner, extra crispy--lol!

Jana, here's hoping you sail through all your "crap". I've got you on my prayer list for that blasted knee.

Dana, I'm joining Jana in that happy dance! I'm so glad you can continue with your childcare. It must be such a relief for you and your DH.

Kate, interstitial cystitis is a drag but it sounds like you're dealing with it. Are you on any meds or treatments for it? What's Turbo Jam like?

Char Cahr, have we lost you? Oh, I hope not. We need you to kick our butts! I know you must be really busy now that you've taken a job. I'm sure you'll need a period of adjustment in terms of organizing your day. I imagine you feel swamped at the moment.

I'll BBL

Michele

Dana - so happy that you got the child care situation worked out. It must be a big relief.

Michele - I think you will do much better with Body Fusion this week, I can feel it.

Kate - Sorry to here about your disease. It sounds like you are a strong women. I have wondered about Turbo Jam, thinking maybe this is the way to make cardio more fun, but I seriously doubt can be fun!

I thought about getting two sister kitties, but DH doesn't agree. It is a litter of 4 girls, 2 brown striped and 2 black. I think it would be good because both DH and I work long hours sometimes and they would be able to entertain themselves. I will bring it up again, and maybe he will agree once we get to meet them in a couple of weeks. Now are focus is on getting the house sanitized and ready for a new baby, and trying not to think about how empty the house feels.

Diane, I would get the 2 kitties. I know it might sound crazy at first with DH, but what you said is very correct. They will play and have fun together. I had 2 kitties (had to put one down he got sick) and my kitty missed him a lot until I got married to DH and he has a dog. They took right away to each other so that was good. Point being, (sorry got off the point), if you can get 2 cats it really is a good thing for the kitties.

cats leave babies alone. They don't like anything that grabs their tails and pulls. Ouch. My brother kitties absolutely love each other. Sometimes all three of them sleep together, just as they did when they were kittens. They are almost two now.
Yeah, IC stinks but there is nothing that can be done. That is the breaks. I have a friend who has Crohn's Disease and he is miserable. I will take my IC anyday. So what if I have to urinate 30-40 times per day. AS long as there is a bathroom. Sometimes I push myself ahead and use the disabled one. I have had people yell at me but I just ignore them. Whatever.
And heck, I am not caring so much about being a pear anymore, although I would much rather be celery too. Can you imaging distribuing your weight equally? I don't know if I could handle that. Wow, what a concept!!!!! I am getting past the age of caring about those things (yeah, right, you just keep telling yourself that).

My mom has Crohn's disease pretty bad. It has been pretty hard for her, but she is in remission currently. She has gone on remicade treatments which have helped her a lot. She was in remission for an entire year after her first treatment, and is on her second treatment and is in remission again. Hopefully it will stay that way for a long time. If your friend has never tried this treatment, let them know about it. They are very expensive treatments, but my mom's insurance covers most of it.

His disease has progressed very far. He is not even allowed to eat now. He has to be fed through his veins. There have been times when his whole body has shut down and he was unable to move. He has seen everyone possible. I beleive his doctors are at Cedars-Sinai and they are unable to help. It is a horrible thing he is going though.
