I Hate Cardio - June 7

August

Cathlete
Well,

I don't know how the original recipe tastes, but DANG this rumless pineapple rum chicken is GOOOOOD!

I'm eating it as I type :9 :p !

It's really delcious and I haven't had these kinds of flavors for ages so they are a real welcome taste!

(Haha, on a side note, I couldn't figure out when I was supposed to use the basil, but then I realized that I'd gotten the basil leaves thinking I'd try out Michele's barley recipe! DOH!)

Ahhhhhhhh, yum.

Did my Legs & Glutes this morning and for some reason sort of felt like a wimp. It seemed the last time I did this exercise, it was a breeze. Hmm.

Anyway, hope you're all having a good start of your day!

Hey chickies.

Just finished reading yesterday's thread.

August - that is really, really strange about having a sweet potato truck. STRANGE!!! But it does sound good. Much more healthier then an ice-cream truck.

Jana - I had NO idea that you were an aerobics instructor. How can you hate cardio but be an instructor???? LOL How is Marley? Gannon had an RSV infection in March and his breathing is still messed up. His doc told me that it could linger for months. I hope she is feeling better. And Gabe (my 5 year old) takes swimming lessons. The program is run by a high school swim team. It is held in an indoor pool so it is really hot in there. The ratio is using 2 kiddos per instructor with 4 kids/2 instructors in each lane. Last night there weren't as many kids there so there were only Gabe and another boy in a lane and they each had their own instructor. It is very reasonable too - only $27.50 for 14, 30-minute classes.

Kate - did you seriously do that insane workout yesterday or were you just messin' with us? If you did, then you rock!

Michele - how'd you sleep? I"m sorry that you've been having major sleeping trouble lately. When does your nephew arrive? You're going to be busy. Any plans on what you'll be doing with him? I think you two should do some serious cardio!

Diane and MJ - what's going on with you guys today?

Today calls for upper body so I"m planning on doing PUB tonight. Hopefully I will have time. During the summer I only get a 1/2 hour lunch so I have about 20 min to workout. Today I would like to do abs, there are 2 machines (one for lats, one for shoulders) so do 3 sets on those and I should have about 10 minutes left so I'm going to do 10 min on the rowing machine.

I am so tired. Getting up at 4:30 is not for me! Esp when Gannon woke up 2x last night. He is getting another tooth so I'm assuming the pain in his gums wakes him but he refuses the oralgel - can you blame him? That stuff is nasty!

I would like to stop to get some flowers after work. I have 3 window boxes ready for flowers! We have a big yard but everything is rocks/shale/clay and NOTHING but weeds grow.

Well, this isn't getting my work done! Have a great, great day ladies! And I just found out that our office is closed July 3rd for cleaning so YES, a day off and I don't need to use a vacation day!

Hey guys,

August I am soo glad you liked the chicken...it is one of my favs! and it's good for you so even better! yummy! I can't wait to go and get my cardio done so I can eat my pancake! yuummmmyyyyyyy.....I will send you the "rub" in a minute. A rub is just like a marinade, but thicker and you "rub" it on the chicken..make sense??? I use canned pineapple all the time when it is not in season here, just taste a little different but still oh so yummy!

Dana....uhhhh....RSV......uhhhhhh......let me guess daycare? Uh, the thought of putting DD is day care is not making me happy at all. She has a cold and the Dr thinks she got it from swim lessons. She woke up 6x's last night, I only had to get up a few times, the nuk nuk (paci) worked well when I gave it to her. Man oh man oh man. I can't believe Gannon got that and is still having troubles. Poor little guy. :( I am way over paying for swim lessons. We go to the YMCA and since we are not members it was $105 for 2 weeks of lessons, I hold her the whole time and there were 10 kids for 30 mins each time. I was not real impressed with it and think once she is bigger I might take her back. This is the first time she has ever gotten sick in her little 7 months of being alive so I think so far we are doing good. I am really trying to find a nanny instead of day care, but it worries me to get a nanny too since no one is watching them during the day....ohhhhh...uuhhhhhh......stress.....

Michele..let me guess still doing cardio.

Kate...not up yet..too early in the morning in sunny cali!

Diane...how's it going? How was your sis this last weekend? All settled in and ready to go? How was Dallas. I have not been there in a few years and I know it is getting very populated.

Ok I am going to go do my cardio so I can eat my pancake! yeah!

My mother paid $5.00 for two week swim lessons back in the day. Wow, what a deal?
Jana--an aerobics instructor? You must look pretty dang good but you hate cardio and still do it? Wow, that is dedication. Pure craziness.
I understand the whole daycare thing, I used it and hated it. I know they won't take anyone who has even a snifle so what are you supposed to do?
The water is off today so no working out for me. The workout yesterday wasn't too bad (liar) as long as you drop all the jumps and the spins. I am too old for spins, they make me dizzy. I am getting old, when the equilibrium goes, it's over. When the roller coaster riding is over, what is left?
Monday is the last day of school. HELP!!!

Kate how old are you?}( I feel like I'm getting old too. I think that the culprit for my back hurting last week was the roller coaster that I took Gabe on. How sad is that?????

Good morning (even though it seems like afternoon to me)!

I've read over the thread from yesterday and today but I'm not sure I remember who said what--lol. I did it again. I stayed up until 3 AM reading. Unfortunately, I had to get up around 5:30 this morning so I'm wasted. DH had to be at work at an ungodly hour this because he had to put the finishing touches on a lecture which was scheduled for 8:00. Today is LIS but I'm sure I won't get to it until late this afternoon or early evening.

Dana and JanJan, I'm sorry your little kidlets are sick:-( . That has to be hard.

Dana, do you have to work through the summer, or does the school close down completely at some point? I've been reading your posts about the HIIT with increasing interest and I really, REALLY want an elliptical trainer. I have no friggin clue where I'd put it, though.

JanJan, I'm with Kate here. How can you teach aerobics and claim to hate it? It's a good thing I think you're cute or I'd have to run you out of Cardiohateville--lol! I admire anyone who is good with numbers. I couldn't count to 5 without my fingers:eek:

August, you have a sweet potato truck in Japan?!?!?!? Well how fun is that? I love sweet potatoes. My favorite way to prepare them is to cut them into chunks, drizzle them with olive oil and toss with salt and pepper to taste, then roast them in a 450 degree oven for about 25 minutes. They are so good my mouth is watering as I type this. Actually, I like to dice up one large sweet potato and mix it with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and minced garlic, and roast it all together on a big cookie sheet. Yummy, yummy!! If you line the cookie sheet with heavy duty foil you don't even have to wash it!

Kate, how long will you be without water? So, you must be feeling better to have completed that insane work out yesterday, no? I'm following your push-up progress.

Diane, I haven't read the flylady book yet so I'm not sure what the house blessing is, but I've been discussing the flylady philosophy with my DH and I told him that he can either help with the declutter or get out of my way while I delutter our home of his crap--lol!

MJ, I'm starting to worry that we're going to have to send out a search party to find you. Are you back from the wedding?

Okay, I feel a nap coming on. I'll see you gals later on.:)

Hi Everyone -

I got in late again this morning, not enough sleep again. I did the Rock Bottom leg workout from Cathe this morning, but didn't have time for the upper body workout that was also on the schedule. I won't have time to do it tonight because I have another recruiting dinner. I have a recruiting party tomorrow too, and THREE recruiting parties next week. It is going to be busy, with lots of food tempations.

August - Now I will definitely have to try Jana's recipe after these rave reviews. I know what you mean about a workout feeling easy one day and hard the next, sometimes are bodies are just tired.

Dana - Awesome about the unexpected day off! That is so much fun. Maybe you can have a free day for gardening and getting all your flowers.

Jana - Aerobics instructor? Do your students know about your aversion to cardio??? I dream about becoming an aerobics instructor as a job to have after having kids when I don't want this crazy lawyer life, but worry about how to get started or whether I will find a job. Dallas was a good trip, I hadn't been there in at least 4 years. DH's sister is all set up, and I helped her unpack so she is literally done! The roads are really really nice in Dallas compared to Houston I think.

Michele - Get some sleep! This is one of the rules of flylady, getting to bed at a decent hour, and one of the few rules I am breaking too! The weekly home blessing hour is the weekly maintenance cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, changing sheets, mopping kitchen and bathroom floors, etc. I also clean the bathtubs every week, which she doesn't list, I think she wipes them down daily or something). You set a timer and do 10 min of each.

Kate - That sucks that the water is off. It is amazing how much we don't even think about these modern conveniences until we lose them!

Yes, I am a closet cardio hater to all my students. I have not been able to teach since being preggo and now with the injury. I teach everything under the sun, step, spin, pilates, weights, kickbox, etc. etc and really I do it because I get to blow off stress from the day. I am hoping to only work full time for a few more years and then go to teaching full time again. You can make decent money, but you are limited on hours. Basically, you can't teach more than 20 hours per week...and let me tell you imagine working out 20 hours per week...it does not work....know what I mean.....I will be going back soon after the surgery heals and I am ready to go...now...shhhhh...don't tell anyone about my secret.....}( }( }(

Mmm. This pineapple no-rum chicken rocks cold, too. :9

Michele and Kate - congrats on your pushups progress!
