I Hate Cardio - June 2

August

Cathlete
OH N:eek:     O! I did cardio BY MISTAKE!!!

I took a look at my little planner, saw what I had to do for my workout today and did it - 30 min of cardio plus floor legs of Gym...then when I went to put a smiley face next to it, I realized I did tomorrow's workout!! x(

Of course, that meant bonus pancake for me :p so not a total loss here.

And you know, I think I have a faulty Gym Legs. I try to push the button for doing floor legs only, but it goes one exercise at a time and turns off after each one, and then it won't let me get back to the main menu. It was a total bummer!

Well, at least my apartment is clean. ;)

Diane - I sure did check out the link you posted for flylady! I actually only looked at the page you sent, but when I have some time I'm going to go back to see what else is there. I'm actually a huge thrower - I love, love, love to throw away everything, so my apartment always looks really...sparse lol. It's the scrubbing that I've gotten lazy about, but now thanks to you, it's written into my weekly goals journal, so it's going to get done every Sunday from now on }( ! Now that I've done the big scrub-up, I'm thinking weekly wash-downs will be a cinch.

Michele - You are so sweet to say that about the barley, really. I actually know that you really would send it to me. Awwww, you guys, you know, I've never had "internet friendships" before (for as much as I blab, I'm actually a rather private person if you can believe it), but I'm really enjoying getting to know you guys. And you've all been inspiring me in so many great ways. I'm really grateful! Heheh, ooh, I'd love to come over and throw all your stuff away! LOVE to throw! Throw throw throw! (But please don't tempt me with the Volcano Cake.) Anyway, I'm sure I can find barley here! :)

Janjan - What happens if you don't put the rum in that chicken recipe? (This isn't a joke! I'm not being sarcastic here!) I guess because the rum is part of the recipe NAME that it's fairly important :* ? Is there a substitute or do you think I can just leave it out?

Well, tomorrow I'll do my today since today I did my tomorrow, which means I'll do ME tomorrow. I did my pushups, too. I'm going to need to figure out how to change my mind set about getting to twice my age since I've been hearing myself say (during the pushups, of course) "how on earth am I going to be able to get to 72 of these mo-fos?"

August, how in the world could you do cardio by mistake!?!?!?!?!? LOL! I can guarantee you I would NEVER make a mistake like that. Have you tried your DVD in your computer, or maybe it needs to be cleaned? I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just got my first DVD player a few months ago. I need a crew of people to come over and help me throw things away, and half of that crew is needed to hold my DH down while we dump his stuff}( :7 . Oh yeah, I got my volcano cake over the weekend and it was fantastic:p :9 . I only get it once a year so he made 3 of them and 2 were for me (they're little, baked in individual ramekins).

Speaking of my darlin' DH, he snored all night and finally drove me to the couch. I barely slept and I feel like crap. This has to stop! Anyway, I have Body Fusion today;( . Wish me luck.

Janjan, thanks for the recipe. I might make it one day over the weekend. I'm assuming it calls for skinless, boneless chicken breasts? Is it still raining in Texas? It's been raining here like crazy. We had some nasty thunderstorms last night and it's raining this morning. Oh well, at least I don't have to water the lawn.

Dana, do we need to rescue you from under a pile of papers? I'll bet you're really snowed under with end of school year crap. Are you off for the summer once school is out?

Kate, how are you feeling today? Do I need to come over there with a pot of chicken soup...and a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup--lol! Okay, I'm sorry. It wasn't very nice of me to throw peanut butter cups at you when you're trying to eat clean.

Diane, I don't remember the last time I cleaned my baseboards--lol! I've thought about hiring a cleaning company to come in every couple of weeks to thoroughly clean my kitchen and bathrooms. I get a migraine every time I clean the bathroom. It would be nice to have someone come once ar twice a year and do heavy cleaning but I don't like other people to do my dusting and vacuuming. I have a lot of little antique doodads sitting around, and a few small oriental rugs and I'm anal about them. I had a cleaning crew come in after my surgery a few years ago and the experience nearly pushed me over the edge. They used Pledge on my leather sofa!!!!

MJ, I believe you're getting together with your future SIL today..is that right...a spa day or something? Have a great weekend!

Okay, I'm off to read some threads and do my work out. I'll catch you later :)

I throw away everything too. I can't stand clutter. I am married to a pat rack. Figures.
I went to the doctor last night and have bronchitis and sinusitis. The doc told me not to work for a couple of days due the fever etc. Who am I to argue with a medical professional? Bless his heart and bless his ability to write prescriptions.
I think that I got this from my one (yes, o-n-e) push-up the other day. It used everything I had and took away all my defenses. Really!
I am signing off now, I still feel lousy. You all have a great day and do my cario for me!
Kate
Peanut butter cups? ooooohhhhhhh

Well it's about time some of you Cardiohatesvillians woke up!! }(

Kate, I had to crack up about how your pushup pushed you right into Bronchitisland. You gotta thank a doctor who tells you you can't work for a couple days. Poor you. TV and bed.

Michele - So you were vacationing in Snoreland. What can ya do. Ever try those nose things? They like tape onto your nose and open up your nostrils or something. You should slip one on him one of these nights.

It's 11pm here. I'm contemplating bed but I think I'll stall a bit more.

Hey Haters,

Got to be quick again we have swim lessons again today. DD was too cute during them, did not cry at all. She is by far the littlest one in there, but she held her own. It was fun!

August-....it's really not enough rum to make a big difference, most of it cooks away. The original rec calls for way more, but I just put in a dab of it. I don;t even taste it and I am sure you can make it without it. The red pepper flakes add some heat to it which I like. It really is good if you try it let me know.

Michele- Yes boneless skinless chicken...is there any other way???? hehee...

Diane- well looks like the rain might be over with now it is just going to get hotter than he**!!! Next week high of 94+, uhhhh....not looking forward to this heat at all. yuck!

Ok guys, I have to run. I know I forgot some of you guys, but I will be back later to say hi to everyone else, Kate, MJ, Dana....

Janjan

Hey, Janjan,

I've written the ingredients onto my shopping list (along with some ingredients for Michele's barley thingy - including barley, of course :D !). I'm going to try it out without the rum. Maybe this weekend...depending on how fast I finish up the chicken that is already in my fridge!

Have a great swim lesson!

August, just substitute pineapple juice for the rum. I suppose you could use a little wine if you have it. I don't think it'll make that much of a difference in the recipe if you just omit it. Let us know how it turns out.

Poor Kate! Bronchitis really sucks it out of you. I hope you have some good movies on DVD. Just cuddle up under a blankie, drink lots of fluids, and let your DH pamper you.

JanJan, did you send your rain my way? It just won't let up!!!

Okay, it's nearly 10:30 AM and I still haven't had breakfast. I'm out of here.

The only thing I have in my place that is remotely booze is Vanilla Essence. :+

Vegetable stock in place of chicken stock is okay, right?

I'm not much of a cook. If you hadn't guessed yet. I steam. I grill. I dash. I sprinkle.

Good morning everyone - I got into work really late today, I just slept in. Even though I was really late, I still stuck to my morning flylady routine and was no later than I would have been otherwise. Emptied the dishwasher, washed the sheets (that is on the schedule today, I spaced out my weekly blessing so that I only do one thing a day, otherwise it would take an hour out of my weekend, which is not okay with me). Today is date night! I took flylady's advice and I am trying to do the Friday date night and Saturday family fun day. Last Friday was the first time in a while that dinner out with DH felt like a date as opposed to just a way to get food in our tummies. And last Saturday we saw a movie, which was fun.

Anyway, yesterday I managed to get in a 20 min run at the gym after work. Go me. Last night I decided to do the Rock Bottom rotation this month, because my bottom is no where near a rock, more like dough. I am subbing running for a lot of the step cardio for, but keeping the kickboxing. So tonight after work I am doing 30 min run plus 300 walking lunges!

August - Good job getting your house detailed cleaned in one day! I am just doing mine a little at a time (15 min a day) because I don't think I could do it in one day. The previous owner of our house obviously never cleaned or dusted, and the house was just caked in a layer of old, sticky dust everywhere. So we hired a cleaning crew to do detailed cleaning, but the first company called it quits after like 6 hours. We got into a whole dispute over money (I paid them a lot and they quit!) So I got my money back. Then hired another company and they did a better job. I also did a lot of it myself and my housekeeper has tried to maintain. But there are still corners here and there that were not cleaned, so as I am going through each zone, I have to look for these nasty little spots from the previous owner. Yuck. I hate cleaning filth that I know is not mine.

Michele - I can come help you throw away stuff too! It is my new passion. I swear, I think I would have a lot of fun being a professional organizer. I don't have a ton of stuff to throw out at this point, which is very disappointing. So I could help you!

Jana - Have fun at swimm lessons! Yes, I am glad it is not raining, but darn it is getting hot. I will be headed to Dallas this weekend to help my sister-in-law move in to a new apartment (just graduated college and starting her new life as an elementary school teacher!). I wonder what the weather will be like there?

Dana - Are you almost done with your mountain of work? Whats on the menu today, I love hearing your menu.

Kate - I hope you start feeling better soon. A few days of rest should do the trick.

Hey, Diane, you flygirl!

That's great that you're keeping your schedule - it really sounds wonderful...and it sounds like you're really enjoying it. Yeah!

My place is easy to clean in a day. It's tiny. Like, teeny tiny.

I can't imagine hiring a professional cleaning company to come and they quit! That sounds........well geez, that almost sounds like a lawsuit, actually. How weird that they would quit! I can imagine how cleaning up someone else's funk would not be cool at all. I mean, it's awful enough to clean up your own.

But it sounds like you're on your way!

Have a fun date tonight!

All right. I suppose I should go to sleep now.

Night night!

Good night, August!! Sleep tight and we'll see you tomorrow.

Diane, Flylady recommends a date night!?!? I'm definitely going to read the book now--lol. The funny thing is, DH and I used to have a date night every week for the first year or so of our marriage. We both looked forward to it and always enjoyed ourselves. I know exactly what you mean about going out for the purpose of getting food vs going out to enrich your relationship. I think my DH and I need to make a concerted effort to do that again. He works like a friggin maniac and there are no signs of his schedule slowing down anytime in the near future. --Anyway, it sounds like you're doing great organizing your life--WOO HOO! I'll have to have you and August over the next time my DH has a meeting and you can help me with that 27 fling boogy or whatever it's called--lol!

I did a push up but I have not done cardio. I know..I'm going..I'm going.

Michele - I love date night! Saturday is family fun day. And Sunday is renew your spirit or something day. No housework on Saturday or Sunday (though I have to run errands that day, but she says to do them on Thursday).

I officially decided to freeze my gym membership. I mostly run outside and do Cathe or other videos. I get a much better workout if I am doing Cathe anyway. I just don't go enough during the spring and summer and only really go during the winter, but still not even that much. It costs $68 a month for me (with taxes), but we will only save $58 a month because DH's membership price will go up if I freeze (couples discount). Still saving $700 a year. So I am officially freezing it today (after work). Freezing it means I won't have to pay the start up fee again (it was steep and part of the reason I feel so bad leaving), but will have to pay 2 months membership fees to restart. But if I am off for 3 months or more, I will still save money. You can only freeze for up to a year so I will have to decide whether to keep it at that point.

I am also thinking about letting my housekeeper go. She is so good though and it is hard to find a good one, so I want to wait a couple months to make sure this whole flylady thing sticks, but right now I am paying her to clean when I already do it myself. That would save a whole lot of money.

Hmmmmmm......I think I might have to check into the flylady thing.....but don't want the spam........Diane...keep talking we can all learn from you!!!

I would freeze the gym membership too, good idea. I got lucky on mine since I worked for 24 hour (teaching part time) I got a free membership until 2020! yeah! I would never pay for a gym membership, I have the Cathe videos and the dreadmill and now the bike and an awesome outdoor bike. If I could I would run outside too, much better than the dreadmill!

The housekeeper thing, I let mine go just before we moved in here. She cleaned my house, mom's house, and grandmom's house and really she was just "ok". I think I clean better than her and I scrub more. I do miss her at times, but it sounds like you have got things down. I realized the extra $$ we were spending on her was a waste after all. Now, when I go back to work, I may be in the market for a new one. As you said a good housekeeper is very hard to find.

Have fun in Dallas!

Everyone else have a good weekend.

PS-August I would not go with the veggie stock, you really do need the chicken stock, it makes a big difference.
