I Hate Cardio Check-in April 21st

Hello Ladies!

Wow, I'm very surprised I am the first one posting today. Where is everyone?

I got home last night and was just too tired to work out, so I didn't. Today I am planning a 30 min run/walk after work, and then we are going out to one of my fav restaurants with DH's family. Jana, have you been to Backstreet Cafe? Love that place.

Today is yucky weather in Texas, raining and hail in some areas. There was softball size hail near my parents house, lots of cars and property destroyed. Luckily my parents did not have to be on the road.

So lately I have been really slacking on my weight lifting (even though I am a true cardio hater, weird). I have been very busy and have really only been doing my 30 min run 4 times a week. I think I really try to make time for the run as opposed to the weight lifting because I am "in training" for the half marathon. I know in my head that I won't be able to run it unless I keep on schedule, so it is great motivation to keep going. However, I haven't found that motivation with weight lifting right now when I am really busy. Any ideas? I need some goals. Something that will make me make time for my workout. I was thinking something like a push up goal, since I still do sissy pushups on my knees. But that won't really help for the rest of my body.

Well, I see everyone took my suggestion to heart about the harshness of the H word. See, very few haters here today! I'm glad I could help make this a gentler forum.

Good morning haters!!

Diane, I'm so glad you started this thread. I tried for a couple of hours to log on and wasn't able to. I could navigate the rest of Cathe's site, but for reason's I don't understand, I could not get on the forums. I finally managed to get on by going into my history and clicking on a thread from yesterday.

Diane, frankly I'm amazed that you get in as much as you do with your work schedule. Look, you can't do it all. There just aren't enough hours in a day and you need to find a good balance. The push up goal is a good idea and something you can drop and do in your office. How about adding squats and lunges to that and then you'll have upper and lower body covered? Don't underestimate the effects of using you own body weight for resistance training!

I did cardio last night even though it wasn't on my rotation. It was about 45 minutes of floor aerobics using a Michelle Dozois DVD. Today is BS with an ab add on. I'll probably do it later this afternoon or early evening.

My husband leaves later next week for 2 back to back work related trips, so we just plan on hanging out this weekend and trying to relax a little bit. We'll probably check on his parents, too.

Jana--the knee, what's up with your knee?

Dana, I saw where you accepted the 12 week challenge. Good luck..I'm so proud of you and I know you can do it! Oh my, now you HAVE to do your cardio *GASP* I was thinking I might do it too, but on my own. Honestly, I'm not the before & after picture posting type. Also, I don't want to compete with anybody but me. I looked at your picture trail and I cannot get over how cute your boys are!:+

Toasty, I just read on another thread that you have a funeral to go to. I'm sorry for your loss. I'll keep you and yours in my prayers.

Ellen....paging Ellen. What has happened to you, girl? You know, if you're in a funk this IS the BEST place to be. Come, let us help bear your burdens, assuming you have burdens. Did you sell your house?

August, what's on tap for you today? I'm trying to remember your post from yesterday, but I'm old and I can't remember what I ate for breakfast this morning much less what anybody posted yesterday--lol!

Have a great day girls! I'll check back later.

Michele

:)

I almost forgot to mention that, with much fear and trepidation, I weighed myself today. I almost didn't do it because I was SURE I gained 50 lbs from last week's binge fest. Imagine my surprise when I looked at the scale and realized I had actually lost about a 1/2 lb. I know, it's not much but I'll take it. I'm not kidding...I really thought I gained this past week. What a relief!! I guess all this friggin cardio is finally paying off;)

Robin...I HATE CARDIO...I HATE CARDIO...I HATE CARDIO...HATE...I'M A HATER OF CARDIO...CARDIO = HATE...HATE IS LIKE CARDIO...I HATE CARDIO...SHE HATES CARDIO...WE ALL HATE CARDIO

BWAHAHAAAAAA

Michele

:p

Hello haters,

Yes I know I am a little late, got some what of a late start. Got DD to sleep until 7am this morning yeah! It was raining something bad this morning so I tried to explain to her when it rains in the morning we sleep more. So nice to sleep to the rain...ahhh...oh well I will take 7am, better than 6am.
Well I just got done with ME today, was going for bootcamp, but thought it over and maybe air jacks are not the smartest thing to do when your knee is not feeling bueno. I am VERY frustrated with the MIL she is starting to act like a major hypocondriact (yes sp so wrong, but I never won a spelling bee)...I finally got a Dr's apt to go and now she won't watch DD for 2 hours while I go....I am over it!
Calling everyone at 3am saying she is having a heart attack and the Dr's told her to take her meds because she is having anxiety and she won't so she is not getting any better. Ok enough of my soap box...

Michele~ ok here is some good news...there are times when I can eat really bad and still not gain, actually loose....but you cannot do it all the time. Your body needs fat in it at times to help get it out of thinking about starvation mode...make sense??? That is why it is important to have a day off from clean eating and then go right back to clean eating. Zig zagging is effective, just don't do it all the time. I lost 2.5 lbs from last Friday, but have kept the diet clean except for last night, I had steak, butter, cheese and 1/2 of a small apple turnover with ice cream. And yes Char-Char I savored every bit of the icecream! Your cardio is up so you are burning! Godd work!

DMoney~ yes LOVE the backstreet cafe...yummy! Great place to chow! When I had to work long hours, I swear I would do squats and lunges in the bathroom at work. Then I would try and find a quiet place to get 25 push ups in. When I got my own office at a smaller company I had a 10 lb and 12 lb weight at my desk and would do curls and kickbacks when no one was looking! hhheeeeheheheheee. You are working hard but you are human and there are only 24 hours in a day. Running is really good for you and yes you are so going to run that marathon...I think you will do the whole thing! Keep up the good work.

Scarecrow~ a.k.a. Dana~ how's the brain today? What are you up to for your cardio today? How is little man Gabe? Has he accepted he is the big boy of the house yet?

Ellen~ Michele- you know she ran off with the pool boy.

August~ come out come out where ever you are...

Char-Char~ on a sad note sorry you have to go to a funeral, you're in my prayers and thoughts. We will miss you today.

Who am I forgetting? Can't remember

Ok, now for my really good news...everyone LISTEN up...so that Professor I have that I call the witch...well knowing she is a hard A** I have been working VERY hard to please her, and get this she sent me back a note telling me "You are a wonderful, hardworking student and I appreciate all your hard work"...and then she sent me feedback on an assignment saying "Excellent answers. These are models for the class"....I think I feel over when I read this...can you believe I have made this woman happy?

Ok I am out. Must clean house and shower up.

Have a fab Friday everyone. BBL

Hey all you haters! What's up?

Michele thank you for the compliment on my boys. I have some more pics that I just took to put on my picture trail account, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Although I better get to it before DH deletes them so he can take more pics of his car. Oh and as for the before and after pic - God bless his heart b/c I make Gabe take them and he is like, "Mooommmmmmmmm!!!! Do I have to?"

Michele do you have the cardio bug? Doing it on your off day? What is going on with you? Sheesh! }(

Diane, I think you are sending your rain our way. Tomorrow is supposed to be a wash out for us. The push up goal sounds good b/c you can do them anywhere. I was going to suggest maybe doing a circuit workout b/c you'll be getting in your cardio and weights but you are so dang busy I don't know when you would fit it in. Your boss needs to give you some time off. Tell her that the haters said so!

Char what are you doing today?

Jana - where are you? How is your knee today?

Ellen, Ellen come in Ellen? Where are you?????????

Today is my walk and I think BootCamp tonight. For some reason, I've been doing Boot Camp on Friday nights? Don't know what is up with that?

Oh listen to this, my DH is on my case b/c he thinks he is more fit then I am b/c he can do like a zillion pushups, one handed, with claps inbetween, etc. I told him just b/c he thinks he is the push up king does not = being in good shape. I told him that I would bet anything that he can't do an entire Cathe workout without taking a break. So what do you think? My top 3 that I"m thinking about having him do are:
BootCamp (the cardio will kill him but the weights he would have no problem with, doubt he could do the ab work)
Imax2 - nuf said
KPC

So what one do you think I should have him do? Hee-hee this should be so funny.

BUT - I have to do the workout first so when I finally choose the one for him I am going to master it so it looks like a breeze to him and then BAM he's not going to know what hit him.

OK, better get back to work for now. I hate work!!!!!

I would definitely say Bootcamp. If there is any choreography, like in a step workout, he might try to weasle out by saying that he can't get the steps down. Remember, I did the same thing to my sister with Bootcamp. She thought she was really fit until she couldn't get through that workout.

Dana, I don't have any advanced cardio work outs so I looked at clips. I agree with Diane and I would definitely challenge him with Bootcamp...just make sure his life insurance is paid up--lol!

Melody, thank you for being my cheerleader. You're susch a good sister.

Robin, you better pray for me to purge this hatred from my soul--lol!

Michele

Hey Haters!!

I am in the midst of my workout. Came in here to let my heart rate come down a bit. Just finished jumping hurdles. Now onto working out body parts again in 2 sets of 12's. I have plyo's after I am done working the 2 sets. So far...jumping off stepper, the hurdles, next tuck jumps. What others shall I do? I have one last one. Opinions please? Nothing dumb though. LOL!

Charlotte~~

Toasty, how about some kind of jacks? I don't do plyo so I'm not the best person to give advice, but jacks always look tough to me. I hope that's not too dumb--lol!

Michele

One plyo move that we used to do in off season in sports was where we would jump forward as far as we could off of one foot landing on the opposite foot. It is about distance, and then balance when you land, not about heigth. I remember these being really hard and also worked your core. The next jump would be on the opposite foot. They are better to do outside in the yard. The goal is to do as few as you can in a certain distance. So do one pass through the length of your yard, and then turn around and try and do it in less hops the next time.

Editted to add: I think the coach called these "strides." Looks like you are taking the long step humanly possible.

Like your ideas you two. Michele, not dumb. I just didn't want you to say something like jump off my house and land on my hands. }( :p

Char Char

Char Char, trust me; I would NEVER challenge YOU!! to jump off your house. Holy Crapoli, I'd be afraid you'd do it--lol!

Jana, I've been back to clean eating, all right. Yes Ma'am, it's noting but clean eating for this girl;) :p

Michele

Umm hello....a little attention over here....Did ANYONE read my post?

Please see below:

Ok, now for my really good news...everyone LISTEN up...so that Professor I have that I call the witch...well knowing she is a hard A** I have been working VERY hard to please her, and get this she sent me back a note telling me "You are a wonderful, hardworking student and I appreciate all your hard work"...and then she sent me feedback on an assignment saying "Excellent answers. These are models for the class"....I think I feel over when I read this...can you believe I have made this woman happy?

Can I get a whoohaaa?

Marathonwoman,

WOW!!!! Just goes to show you when you think you have someone figured out...you don't! Anyhoo, looks like you did a marvelous job and the woman should applaud you for it anyways. Your MIL has me cracking up! You are too funny! I feel for you! Have fun with it like your doing so you don't get too mad. That is what I try to do. Your knees should be getting better, but you are making the right decision not to aggravate them further by doing another workout. Maybe you should rest for a few days and give them a break?

For the rest of you....

No, I did not jump off my house.

Dana,

I have scoop away containers turned upside down for hurdles. I have them in the back of my yard as it is more private.

Charlotte~~

OMG Char Char that is sooo funny...I think I am going to have to try the containers and see. I want to build an obsitcal course in my back yard, but DH won't let me...plus doggie poop...damm dog...

Being nice to the knee, only did ME today no cardio =(
but...tomorrow is a different story...LowMax (possibly) or KPC just no jump kicks. I must attend training for the part time job at 24 hour fitness and that is once a year step training, so I will be stepping for about 2 hours on Sunday...and it starts at 7 am and it's 30 mins from my house...uhhhh.....toooooooo earlyyyyyy for a Sunday.
