I Hate Cardio Check-In, 4/7

Hello fellow haters!

I weighed myself this morning and the scale did not budge from last weekx( . Of course, I did have a chocolate binge fest the other day when I lost my mind and ate 2 candy bars and a chocolate chip cookie. Oh, and there was the pizza I had for dinner one night. At least I didn't gain weight, right? Anyway, I'm on HRT and I'm right in the middle of the progesterone phase which causes some water weight gain so the scales may not be accurate. We'll see what happens next Friday.

Today is BS and abs. How about you gals?

I'm lonely here...where is everybody? ;(

Michele

Hi Michele. I'm here at work - super swamped but just had my a.m. snack (oatmeal) so I decided to see what was going on here. It is awfully quiet. At least you didn't gain, give yourself a week or two, I'm sure the # will go down by then. I weighed myself this morning too. I'm up 1.5 lbs but I did lose 4 last week but I was sick so I thought for sure I'd gain back the 4 I lost. Plus I had a bad night the other night (wings w/bleu cheese, french onion soup and a way too big spoonful of PB).

I just looked outside and it is raining pretty hard. My lunch isn't until 11:30 and it is only 9:45 right now so maybe the rain will stop by then. I do have an umbrella though so no excuses right?

Last night I did PUB. I don't know about you guys but I really have a hard time doing the abs at the end. My arms are so fried that I do not want to hold the stability ball or the weight. I think that next time I do PUB, I'm going to do the abs right after the warmup. I can't do the pikes on the ball so I just do the modified version on the floor. I"m so uncordinated I'd probably hit my head of something if I tried those. LOL

Tonight I"m going to do some type of cardio - either the elliptical or a 30 min step by C. Prickett and abs. Hopefully I"ll get my walk in as well.

Guess I better get back to work. It is never ending.

Have a great day all you haters! And a great weekend too!

Hi Dana!

All I can say is I thoroughly enjoyed my binge fest so I guess it was worth it, right? I hope you enjoyed yours too. We'll just do better next week!

I know what you mean about ab work at the end of strenuous upper body w/o's. When I had a personal trainer she always had me do abs immediately following the warm up and occasionally at the end, too. I like doing them at the beginning because I can put more into it. Give that a try and see what you think.

I hope the rain clears up for your walk and have a great weekend!

Michele

Hello Ladies -

Man I am usually late to the party because I get to work late and don't check the forum until 9 am, but the boards are quiet today.

Michele - I workout so that I can eat a cookie or chocolate and stay the same weight! Don't worry about the scale, with Cathe's rotations there is no way you won't lose some lbs.

Dana - I agree about the ab work on PUB. My arms are too fried to hold up my body weight. Let us know how it goes doing the abs at the beginning next time.

Today I got to work super later (9:30) because DH and I decided to go for a run and then carpool to work. We usually don't carpool because our schedules are so unpredictable, and because DH is SO SLOW getting ready and always makes me late. Well, no exception today, I am late again. Oh well, the commute was more fun together.

So this morning I obviously did the 30 min run/walk. Felt very good today, I slowed down my pace because I think I was going too fast before. I didn't have time for GS triceps so I will do that tonight after work. Last night after work I started my new one body part per day rotation that I made up yesterday and did intervals 1-5 of Imax 2 and GS Chest. I know that the running is really helping because Imax 2 didn't seem that hard! I know the first 5 intervals are easier than the last 5, but I have done 1/2 the workout several times before and it always killed me. Now it was a lot more fun, and I had a lot more spring in my step and I felt very bouncy and energetic instead of just dragging my feet through the moves. Felt great. Now the GS Chest pushups on the other hand killed me, even though I can only do them on my knees.

Morning everyone,

Sorry I am late, had to get in KPC (32 mins of it) and some core work. Funny the topic of core work came up with you guys. I have a hard time doing the core work after any work out. I had really great abs before DD and I have had a hard time getting them back. Don't get me wrong, stomach is flat, just not like it used to be. I also decided to do core right after the warm up. I need to or else I am too pooped and don't do it right.

I think we had a cold front move through (yeah) so now it's only like 70 outside with a high in the upper 70's this weekend yeah! No more 80's+. This summer is going to be hell. I swear I am moving for the summer. I need to win the lotto so I can have a summer house and a winter house. I don't mind the winters here, but man oh man the summers suck. So friggin hot and uh nasty humidity.

Update on the MIL. She is convinced there is something wrong with her and she is back having more tests run this morning. Keep in mind they have already done this same test 2x's in the past month and found nothing. They checked her from head to toe and nothing wrong with her. I tried talking to her about anxiety and panic attacks, she would not listen. She said she will go to every doctor in town until she finds one to tell her something is wrong......uhhh....this is going to suck I see it already. I wish a doctor would tell her she is suffering from anxiety and panic and work to help her. Now to top that I think DH's dog is on his last leg. He is 14 years old and for the most part in good shape, but he is getting bad. He fell last night accidentally on the tile floor and this morning when I let him out he could hardly get up and then went outside and just fell down in the grass. He would not get up, we had to carry him back in the house and he won't move off of his dog bed. It's kind of sad. I need a break, I swear!

Let's talk about something happier...let me go down this list:

Char-Char~ off today, she is shopping. Lucky dog!

Michele~ cardio queen. Girl, so proud of you this week! You kick butt!

Diane~ High rolla', big poppa'~ hehe! Did I tell you I was proud of you for the 8 minute run! So awesome, I am only up to 4 mins. I have asthma so it takes a little longer to build up the endurance. It is really bad right now for some reason? Allergies I guess. What are you doing this beautiful weekend?

Dana~ Sorry about the rain. It should be a law when it is raining no one has to go to work. You get to stay home, lay in bed and watch movies....oh wait I forgot you have 2 boys! That would never happen! Well, ok you get to stay home and play with the boys all day! yeah!
PUB feels awesome! I love that one I do it 2x's per week. I need to go heavier on some of it, muscles not getting big enough yet. The bicep part at the end kills me. Cathe starts with 10's, I start with 8's and max out at 12's and am like uhhhh..that hurts!!! I also hate the chest part. For some reason my chest muscles are just not what they used to be. What's on tap for your weekend?

Well ladies, I have to run. Shower time and then off to MIL's this afternoon to go and check on her.

Hi Jana - The weather is so much nicer, at least the temperature. No big plans this weekend, we just have so stuff to do around the house. Any plans for you? I am hosting a baby shower for someone at work in a couple of weeks - it is amazing how knowing that people from work will see your house makes you realize all the things you need to fix! We moved in only about 6 months ago and the house has all the furniture, and drapes and rugs and stuff, but there are not many accessories, which is really what makes a house feel like a home I think. So we are going on a shopping trip this weekend trying to find home accessories, you know, wall art, candles, plants, knick knack things. I am going to try World Market, they seem to be reasonably price and have cute stuff. Any other suggestions?

Diane - how far do you go in your 30 min walk/run?

Jana - I'm so sorry about your DH's dog. About 2 years ago we had to have our dog put down. I got her when she was only 8 weeks and she lived to be 14. She was a doberman and 14 is a long life for that breed. Same thing happened to her, her legs gave out on her and she couldn't hold her bladder. She would have a BM in the house and then fall in it. So sad.
I hate the chest work in PUB too (mostly b/c chest is my weakest part, I can do 20lb dumbells for bench press but not for flies so I just use 15 lbers so I don't have to switch). My fave is the back and the biceps.

Not sure what is up for my weekend. DH is going racing on Sunday. Still too cold to take the baby there so I may go over and visit with my mom on Sunday. Probably take the kids to church and maybe out for breakfast and then over to my parents. I'm planning to get in some type of cardio 2x and one LB workout.

I didn't get in my walk today - too cold and it is STILL raining. Yuk!

Diane~ we just added a bunch of stuff in our new house, my mom is an interior designer and we had a small budget, so we went to Target (they have fab stuff), Marshalls (lots of pillows) and get this Burlington Coat Factory...yes I just said that. They have a lot of cool stuff for the house and it is not expensive. I still need to go to world market to get more stuff, living out here now it's so far away, but that was the last place to hit. We got a ton of stuff, enough for 2 rooms and the xtra bath. I am trying to take some pictures and finish my picture trail, I am so slow with this, but as soon as I get it done I will get you the trail thingy to look at it.

I just saw on yours and we have the same bedroom furniture!! too funny! I finally got to pull that set out of storage and told DH we were going to use my stuff and his is going in the xtra room! He had no choice! haha!

Quick hello to all! Trying to move all the kids furniture back into their rooms. What a mess! I'm supposed to be working and I totally missed a conference call because I was cleaning upstairs! Oops!!

Ok...I'm in a bit of down mood and need to get my cardio in later. Proabably, I'll do HSC, because I know the steps and I work hard thru it all instead of staring at the TV confused.

Also need to go to Target, BCF, and Michaels to do a little shopping this weekend.

Can't believe Easter in next weekend. I'm feeling so behind this month!

Hi all!

Diane, thanks for the encouragement. It is a little frustrating to know that you've worked hard but to no avail. I'm sure I'll see the effects next week. I'm lol at about how your DH is slow. My hubby is a fiddler. He fiddles around doing all sorts of stupid stuff and makes us late for everything. As soon as it's time to get ready he'll hop on the computer or make a big breakfast, or whatever. It drives me crazy. Good luck at World Market. I've never heard of that store. Is it like a Pier 1 Imports? I've been really slow in decorating my house, too. There's nothing like a party to get you going, is there. Get some pillows. I think pillows and candles go a long way towards making a house feel like a home...and pictures...lot's of framed, family photo's. Let us know what you come up with!

Dana, sorry about the rain. At least you have the elliptical trainer. Man, I'd kill for one of those. I need to find space to put one. It sounds like yo have a nice weekend planned for you and the kids. I have no clue what I'll be doing, other than checking in on my in-laws. My BIL and his wife are coming for a week and they'll get here Monday. They're staying with my MIL & FIL so it will be nice to have some else around who can help out with them.

Jana, I'm really sorry about your pooch. I lost 2 dogs and a cat over a 2 year period and man, it's really hard. They sure know how to steal their way into your heart! I'm sorry about your MIL, too. People of her generation have trouble with the concept of psychological issues. I think the subject is taboo for many of them. It was for my own mother, that's for sure! I think they confuse anxiety with mental illness and they're afraid they'll be labeled or something. It's sad, really. I'll keep her in my prayers. I'm envious...I wish I had a relative with a background in interior design! Does she specialize? Traditional? Modern?

I need to dash out of here. I've been so wrapped up with my in-laws that I haven't done anything for ME in a long time. I'm going to a bookstore and peruse the shelves and see what strikes my fancy. I'm looking for the FlyLady book. I think it's called Sink Reflections, or something like that. I desperately need help in orgainizing my home. I'm saving my work out for later.

I'll see you gals later.

Michele

Thanks for the suggestions, I would have never though Burlingtons. I love Target, they have really cute stuff. And Michaels too, I forgot about that. Target and World Market are the closed to us, so I will try those this weekend. I will let you know if I get anything good.

Jana - Sorry about your pet. They just become part of the family and it is hard to see them get older.

Hi Dana - I just saw your question about how far on the run/walk. Each week I up the running, so it varies, but this week with running 8 min, walking 2 minutes for 30 minutes, I am running a little more than 2.5 miles, around 2.6. I am pretty slow right now, between 10:30 and 11 min mile, but everyone says that speed comes with time and just to worrry about distance to start out with. Training runs are supposed to be relaxed and you could carry on a conversation, so I am going slowly for now. Eventually I will start doing some speedwork and tempo runs to help me run faster, for now I am just plodding along. :)

Diane~ try Bed bath and beyond. There is the big one over on West Alabama and Kirby. If you hit the Target on San Felipe, you know the secret is to hit it first thing Sat morning before everyone else does. I swear to doing that. I shopped at the one when we lived in Timbergrove and found if you wait until Sat afternoon or Sun nothing good is left. That place is always a zoo! I just went to BB&B out here in Katy and for $50 got some good stuff. If you go there, check their sale stuff, I had to dig a bit, but found good stuff.
I learned from my Mom to be creative when looking for "stuff" but don't over do it. Shopping with her changed the way I buy stuff, now it's a lot of fun.

Michele~ yes World market is like a Pier 1, just a little less expensive. It's a fun store. What part of the world do you live in?

Jana, I live in Ohio and boy, I wish I could go shopping with your mom, you lucky stiff, you!

Michele

Just reporting that I finished High Step Circuit!!!

Woo Hoo!! Great way to end my Friday!

Anyone around this evening?

I spent the afternoon in a little historic village nearby. I had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants and then went to a local candy shop and bought 2 small Easter chocolates. After I came home I got a sudden and severe migraine. I took some Ibuprofen and fell asleep. I woke up about 30 minutes ago feeling nauseated. All this to say, I did not do my cardio but I'll do it tomorrow. Tomorrow is just supposed to be UB and LB strength training. Oh well, at least I did cardio yestrday on my off day.

Ellen, I'm glad you hade it through HSC!

Michele

Ok migraines are no fun and oh I do feel for you. Sorry to hear you got one. Yuck! Did you eat the easter candy?...I had mini-cookies tonight...ohhh they were soooo good. I have yet to miss one day of working out this week, but my knees are so feeling the pain. I sound like snap, crackle, and pop with the right one going up the stairs and down the stairs.

I will be crying tomorrow is 30 mins run/walk with GS legs. Oh how I HATE GS legs! It takes me 3 days just to get all the DOMS out.

Ok off to be it's 10:30 and I am pooped. Will report more after DH picks me up off of the floor tomorrow morning after GS legs.
