I Hate Cardio Check-In, 4/25/06

Miss Lee

Cathlete
Good morning to everyone in Cardiohateville!

Today is lower body add on with weights from BS. I did BF (that's Body Fusion for those of you who think I may have run off with a boyfriend--lol!) last night and it was NOT pretty. It's going to take some time for me to get through this one! Jana, this would probably be too easy for you unless you wanted something for a lighter day. This is labeled as an intermediate level w/o although it feels advanced to me:eek: . At least I get 3 weeks to practice before the rotation moves on to LIS (that's Low Impact Step for those of you who may confuse it with "life is sh*tty" when you're doing cardio).

Big news! My darlin DH has been chosen to receive a fairly prestigious award. He will be honored at a meeting in July. You know what this means, don't you? This means that I have to haul @$$ with my work outs. I have quite a ways to go before I will think I look good. I know, I know, we're our own worst critics, but I'm a mess and I need to whip myself into shape! Of course, that's exactly what I've been doing for about 7 or 8 weeks, I just need to renew my commitment so I don't look like a dog in the photos come July--lol!;(

What's on tap for you gals today?

Michele

Hey Michele!

Congrats to your hubby on that award! I expect you'll be looking just fine by July.

My real reason for posting is this: I figure that since you really don't like cardio, you're probably a pro at getting good workouts that don't include it, right? I've managed to injure my shin muscle, so I'm off cardio for at least a week, and probably off of lower body workouts for a few days too. I'm looking for some good variety as the shin recovers. Do you have any non-impact ideas? Thanks!

Just wanted to pop in and say congratulations to your DH, Michele!
I have complete faith that you can achieve your goals by July and if you start to falter, we are here to help! You should be proud, you have been doing a lot of cardio-hatin' lately! Keep up the good work!

Hi Shannon and Kara! I love it when folks stop by Cardiohateville!

Thanks to both of you and I'll pass on your congratulatory messages to my DH.

Shannon, I'm ashamed to tell you that until about 7 or 8 weeks ago I hadn't done any exercise to speak of for about a year. Prior to that, I had a personal trainer for several years so I don't have much at all in the way of DVD's and home equiptment. Aside from a few Cathe work outs, I have the TLT's and you might want to check those out at www.tracielongtraining.com. They're funtional fitness work outs and I think they'd be great for you! You can view clips on the website. There's 4 different work outs and if you search the open forum you'll find several reviews. Good luck to you and I hope that shin heals up soon!

Kara, thank you for all your encouragement:). I'm going to need you to nag me about working out. I really do hate it and I have to force myself to get it done. I tend to procrastinate and have gotten sidelined before because of it.

Hi Haters!

Well I am not doing anything that I hate today. No running. Just lowmax, bbm and working chest. I think I MIGHT hate working chest today just a bit....DOMS in lats and tri's already. Yesterday rode bike with son into town and did Coremax 2. I don't know what I am doing tomorrow...gosh, don't let it be PLB...NO!!!!!!

Mighty Michele,

Great news about DH!!! Way to go!!!!! Whatever you do today, I hope you are drenched in sweat. Just not familiar with the workouts you mentioned. Never tried them. Have fun though, hater!

Hey Michele -
Thanks for the TLT info. I just briefly checked her out and can probably incorporate stuff like that into my workouts this week. I don't know if I'll spring for the actual routines or not, but there are some good ideas in there!

Michele - Tell your husband congrats from all the haters. It is nice to have some kind of motivation to workout, such as a big event.

I need to get back on the bandwagon. I did not workout yesterday - I had planned a run and didn't wake up, planned a workout during lunch but then had lunch plans, and then had company after work. Today I didn't wake up to do my 30 min run, so I am planning it after work. I am scared to do it because I have to run 13 mins and walk 2!

I am so sleepy today, I think I got almost 8 hours, but this coffee is having no effect yet.

Hi diane and Toasty! Thanks so much for your well wishes. I'll tell my DH you sent them.

Diane, I know you're probably bummed that you missed your work out, but I think you really needed the extra sleep. You've been working so hard! What about the company you were expecting? Have they come and gone yet? I hope you don't knock yourself out too much on their behalf. Surely they realize you're in it up to your eyebrows right now. I've got my fingers and toes corssed that you make it through your work out today. Just do your best, and that's all you can ask of yourself.

Toasty, how far is that bike ride into town? Is it strenuous with a lot of hills and such? I love to ride but I won't take my bike on the open road. Our cousin, a very experienced cyclist, was hit by a drunk driver while on a training ride for a big race. He was hit by an 18 or 19 year old kid. Anyway, our cousin, an emergency room physician, survived but is partially paralyzed and can no longer work in the ER. He's married with 3 kids. It's the saddest story. Anyhoo, that's all I needed to scare me off the road. I go out on a trail now but it's pretty flat so not a hard work out. Good luck with your chest work!

ETA - Toasty, are you in on the 12 week challenge? I thought I saw you post in that thread. If so, good luck. I'll be pulling for both you and Dana!

Hello Haters!

I have not fallen off the planet and I have certainly not run away from Cardiohatesville!

I've been out of town and am now just in a really busy couple weeks here so I haven't had time to log on. But I'm making time to do my exercising. It's official. I totally cannot do the blasts in Kick Max. x(

So much to catch up on...reading, I mean ;-)

For the time being, congrats to your DH, Michele!

And to all you other fine citizens of Cardiohatesville, I've missed you much! I've got S&H bi/tri tomorrow. I totally love this series. I'm all wired thinking about which rotation to do next after my 3-week S&H finishes.......Upper Body Bliss?.......The new April lower body one?.......I know I should do an endurance one but those endurance rotations just have so much......whisper whisper whisper you know what :)-( cardio :-( ).

Helllllloooooo August! For a minute there I thought you pulled up stakes and moved on to some maniacal cardio lovin check-in! I'm glad to see you came to your senses.

So where ya been? I was afraid you were in a closet doing jumping jacks or some such thing:eek: . Don't feel too bad about your cardio blasts. He!!, I can't get through Body Fusion--lol! Practice, practice, practice!

Thanks for your well wishes for my DH. And welcome home!

Now, what ever happened to Ellen. Ellen, if you're out there please pop in and say hello. We miss you around here ;).

Michele

Michele,

Yes, there are a few hills. One in particular challenges me everytime. So far I have made it up that one big bad one. When I first started the biking (14 miles roundtrip), I could not make it up this one steep hill. I do now. I just lean forward on my bike. My arms lay pressed against the handle bars while my hands embrace the middle of handle bars and I let my core and legs do the work. Really alot of cardio...I am gasping when I get to the top of hill, but I like to feel the burn in my legs especially. This is rewarding to me. Funny, I had bugs bouncing off my forehead while on a decline...none got inbetween my teeth though. LOL!

Afternoon everyone,

Having a late start to the posts today, have been running around with DD before the rain sets in this afternoon. Let's go down the list:

Michele~ congrats to the DH, that is so awesome!

Let's see, BF. Ok so I did not realize it was step, I need a non-step floor aerobic workout hard enough for me. Everyone is too easy but Cathe, but she does not have just a floor aerobic one besides KM and KPC which I own. I don't know, the knee is just not feeling it lately. I had to rest today because it is hurting again. I sound like snap, crackle, pop all the time...I don't think that is good to sound like that at 28. But, keep going on the BF and it will get easier. You can do it!

Char Char~ Need some food help from you, hit a plateau and lbs not moving, will PM you in a bit for some Toasty advice..Might need Michele's help to with the BFFM.

Diane~ how's it going? Is work still kicking your butt? I personally think stress should be a fat buring factor and I am sending a request to have that changed. I will let you know what the results are.!

Dana~ Where oh where could Dana beeeeee??? Oh where oh where could she be??? Did she run off with Ellen's pool boy?

August~ Ok on the blasts in KM, just take your time, I about fell on the floor the first time I did them to..but I promise if you will just try 2 at a time you will be able to do them in no time. Try them first after the warm up, just go for the first 2 and then the combos,etc..following me? They are hard, but man they are fun.,..oh wait I mean uh horrid...

Ok who ever I forgot sorry, must go, must mop the floors and finish cleaning. I want my maid back!

Jana, I really think you ought to have your knee checked out. It's been bothering you for awhile now.

I printed off BFFM but haven't read it yet--lol! I simply haven't had time. The smartest thing I've done for myself with regards to diet has been buy a bunch of veggies, clean and chop them right away, and store them in airtight containers. I just started doing this last week and I can't get over what a difference it has made in my overall eating plan. It's so nice to have fresh veggies ready to go when I need a snack, or crudites with my lunch, or something to throw into a salad or stirfry. There were times when I was in a hurry or just to tired to deal with all that veggie cleaning and chopping, so I would simply not eat them. I love vegetables but I have never liked all the prep they involve. All this to say, I've been eating about 6 times a day...a lot of veggies and a couple of fruits each day...pairing lean proteins with the complex carbs, and it seems to be working well for me. I'll get around to reading BFFM sooner or later, but in the meantime, my current path seems to be in the right direction;)

Michele

I love veggies too, but it does get old eating the same veggies all the time. I am pretty much doing the same, I don't like processed foods at all, only eat them in a pinch. A main issue I have is DH refuses to eat anything that is good for him so I end up making 2 dinners which is a pain and have a tendency to dip into his bad stuff sometimes...I know I need to stop that, but it's only a little bit. I am just in a rut and must get out of it....

Hey ladies. No Jana I did not run off with Ellen's pool boy. HA! I only worked til 11:00 today b/c Gabe had 2 doctor's appt. First one was in orthopedics to have his cast taken off. Oh how I hate orthopedics. Our appt was for 11:30 and I got there at 11:15, they didn't take us back until 12:40! Got out of there around 1:20, ate lunch in the hospital coffee shop (they actually have healthy food) and then we were off to his second appt. That one was for shots for K. Oh how he screamed.

So no walk today. I"m going to do KickMax tonight after dinner. I don't know if I"m going to do the blasts or not. Not that I"m trying to get out of doing them but I think that workout is 74 minutes and it is very hard to keep a 6 month old entertained for that long. Ya know?

Oh you guys will be so proud of me. I did IMAX2 last night and I got through all of them but 3. I did attempt all of them but the ones that I had to take a break during were is it #5 with all the long hop turns? The one with the ski hops and #9. But I did try to do them all.

My rebounder is supposed to be delivered tomorrow!

Michele - congrats on your DH's award. Awesome!

Have a good night all! I"m off to make stuffed peppers!
