I Hate CArdio Check-In, 4/13

Hating cardio is FUN! :p

Charlotte - Necessary evils...sort of like pushups on the toes. No! No!

Jana - Thank you for the introduction to everyone - man all mighty - it's going to take me some time to figure out who is who! How can you all remember all those nicknames? It's like mental cardio! (Which, come to think of it, actually isn't my forte, either). I have been exercising faithfully for a year now without having taken any breaks aside from Sundays (except for when I had business trips or was sick), so it's actually been a bit nerve-racking consciously taking a week to relax. I think I just really needed it, and now I honestly can't wait for Monday to come so I can lug out my weights! I love my dumbbells! As for kickboxing, I have both KM and KPC and love them both (so bold a statement for a cardio hater!). But yeah, I hear you on the blasts. That's the only part of the two workouts that I...don't do. Achem. Maybe now that I'm here I should try them out again. Achem. x(

Diane - Thanks for the warning. Ohhhh, I KNEW I shouldn't get started in this group! But all kidding aside, as much as I HATE cardio, I seem to do really well with a schedule, so if (heheh, "if") I have it written in my workout rotation, I seem to do it (...well, all right, all right, I'll USUALLY do it). But I still get dread-overload doing cardio more than 3 times a week. And I've recently learned that if the cardio is the 2nd half of my workout, I won't do it. Somehow the physical taking out of one DVD to put in another signals my brain CHOCOLATE WHEY SHAKE AND BANANA TIME!, not cardio time (hmm, probably why I don't ever do my ab tag-ons).

Checking in here with you all will be a great inspiration to really keep me on track! :)

Woah, Diane, wait a minute. You're doing cardio 6 times a WEEK?! What has this group DONE to YOU?! I'm so sorry! (Will...will I need to do cardio 6 times a week to get my fat down? ;( )

This has really turned into a monster post. I promise not to always bog you all down with boring yap when the time could be better spent...on cardio! }(

Quickly about me - It has taken me 35 years to figure out that I want to lose fat and not weight. I'd always never exercised and hated sports, and though I'm at my ideal weight, have always felt pudgy and soft. Last year after some digestion problems, I decided to try Pilates. After a month of that and seeing some positive changes, I got the weight-lifting bug big-time. This led to a huge internet research and total overhaul in my eating routine. I can't believe how much sugar and cr*p I used to eat! I discovered Cathe late last year and am now on a Cathe-frenzy. Exercising 6 days a week has become completely part of my life. I literally can't believe I'm writing that. I really love it. Well, at least the weight-lifting part. I do love kickboxing (if one can use "love" when talking about cardio), but realize that it's going to be important for me to (gulp) broaden my cardio horizons. I'm currently following a C40/P30/F30 balance, eating 6 meals a day. According to my Tanita, I've neither lost/gained body fat % (or pounds) in the period of time since I bought the dang thing in October. How can that be with my new way of life x( ?! But I can definitely feel the difference, no matter what that jerk Tanita says. Anyway, my goal is to lower my body fat (according to Tanita, it's 25%).

Yikes, today is my super busy day so I'm going to need to start getting ready now. A super busy day does substitute for cardio, right? :D

Sorry for the long post. I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all and getting your inspiration (and butt kicks!)

Dang! You know, that is way too hard to do on the ground in the fetal position gasping for air. :( I guess there will be no cookies for Robinx(

Quick tip on the blasts with KM...they are really hard, do them straight after the warm up while your energy is still really good and it makes it a little easier. With KPC I found the opposite, try the high intensity last, try this order warm up, med intensity drills, combos 1-3 and then high intensity. For some reason it works for me, but do try the blasts they are sooo much fun, oh wait I mean so horrid! ;-)
I just hate KPC and KM and LowMax and anything cardio......hehehe....

Don't feel bad about the weight loss thing, I too am going through not moving the scale back to where I was before being preggo. I am thinking about it, I was skinner, but not as much muscle, I think I like the muscle more than being skinner. Talking to myself again..sorry...I do that....where was I....oh yeah I have a paper to finish writing that I am avoiding if you cannot tell...

and no I don't eat ice cream or those doey things..they closed down my Krispy Kreme so I am on strike. I do like little mini-cookies just a little too much....but what the heck I work those things off in the morning.

Going to go and eat the sugar free cheesecake pudding now.

I am 5'11" and 5'9" of that is legs and I run real fast when it comes to cookies so watch out sista' the race is on..hehehe!!!! :p :p :p }( :7 :7 :7

Oh my, Melody, I believe, our own cardio hating Jana has longer legs then you....nana na na. I think she could out run you to the cookies.....and I bet she would share one of her cookies with me. That would mean no cookies for mean long legged teeny Amazon Melody:p (Poor Briee would get trampled in the stampeed.)

Hmmm.....I guess all this running for cookies would be good cardio;-)

Hi Char Char!! I agree with you. All this cardio must have released massive endorphins and we're just not used to that. It's like a drug overdose or something--lol!

I got my work out done yesterday BEFORE going out to dinner. I started with 1 mile of Leslie Sansone for a warm up and then went right into my upper body work. You'll be very proud of me...I didn't have an appetizer OR dessert. Well, I had 2 of those little foil wrapped chocolate eggs, but that's better than a huge slice of pie!!! I was supposed to weigh in today but I totally forgot about it. I don't want to weigh myself now because I've had breakfast. I'll do it tomorrow.

On tap for me today is BS and an AB add on. I'm going to have to run here because I have shopping to do. I don't have anything for my nephew for Easter. I think I'm going to get him a gift card. I feel like I should get him something because he's here visiting and I only see him once or twice a year.

What are you gals doing for Easter?

I want a new drug, oh hell now that song is stuck in my head.
I am about ready to strangle the H no DH for him today. He decides to take a day off today, I told him I wanted to get out of the house w/o DD for about 3-4 hours to run around and get feet and nails did. So he said he is going fishing and had to go and meet his friend on the other side of town to go and pick up his fishing stuff he needed for today. So I am like ok what time are you going fishing he said at 12 (ok it's only 9:21 am here) so basically what it boils down to is by the time he gets home it will be 10 or 10:30 then I still have to take a shower and get ready which will put me at about 11 or 11:15 and then I get a whole 45 mins to myself....haha little does he know I am going to forget my watch and phone and take my sweet little time. UHhhhhhhh...I NEVER get a day off and he thinks he should, huh I don't think so buster. Ok, rant for the day I am over it...

How is everyone today? Let's go down the list:

Char-Char~ yes all the cardio is making me crazy. Must lay off today, knee pain is getting really bad. Don't know what is going on with it, feels like it needs to be popped back in place or something? What are you up to today?

Michele~ well I already know what you are doing. Can you pay some of my bills?

DMoney~ how's life today? How's work today? Hopefully you won't be working this weekend? HOw's the running? So proud of you!

Ellen~ Still off with the pool boy? Oh how I wish I had a pool boy. Think I am going to hire one even though I don't have a pool. Maybe I could get one of those kiddie plastic pools and get a cute pool boy to come and clean that...what do you think?

Robin~ we're off to the races..heheheeeee...

August~ we still have to haze you so I am working on that...hehehe...how are you today?

Dana~ oh Dana...I guess she is still doing her cardio from yesterday, making up for lost time!

Just a FYI for anyone btw..I am selling my DVD's of BS, BS with C&W, HSC, and LIS if anyone is interested. They are all pretty new and have been used slightly.

Oh my goodness you ladies have lost it. HA!!! I"m not here for a day and look at you all! Let me catch you up on my cardio for the past few days:

Wed was only intervals 1-5 of IMAX2 - had to cut it short b/c I decided to workout before soccer practice.
Thurs was Low Impact Step, #1 from CoreMax and PUB
Today was KickMax where I just about died from the drills. Only did 1/2 of them. I was planning on going for a walk but now not sure. My best friend & her daughter were coming over and she just called that she has car trouble so I"m waiting to see if she's coming over or not. I wasn't planning on a powerwalk or anything. She has fibermyaliga (sp???) and is in pain a lot. She said that walking does make it feel better but not an intense power walk so if they do make it over, we'll probably just take a 2-3 mile stroll. I don't get to see her often so it will be nice.

Well there is no way that I"m going to be able to catch up will you all from this thread - you all are nuts! You do realize that you're gonna have to do more CARDIO if you all keep eating those cookies. Don't do it - step away from the cookies!

We are going to my parents for Easter dinner. My goofy husband informed me oh about a month ago that he doesn't like ham. We were eating dinner one night and I made ham and he says, "you know, I don't even like ham. Ham is a cheap meat." What a goofball. After being together for 6 years he tells me that. So my mom is making chicken, mashed potatoes, homemade stuff (I hope) and a veggie. She is also making coconut cake, strawberry pie and sugar cookies. (oh no, I said cookies). I have not had ANY sweets since Lent started so I"m probably gonna die of sugar shock. Char-Char don't read that part b/c I know you are the food nazi (sp??) and you'll kick my butt for eating that. Although they call me the food nazi at work but I am giving you that title.

Oh yeah, welcome AUGUST! It's nice to have you here with us haters!
