I Hate Cardio Check-IN, 3/28

Miss Lee

Cathlete
Good morning haters!

I just want to sleep for 5 more minutes! I'm not sure what all is on tap for me today. I told my FIL that I'm probably not going to visit my MIL until this evening because she's doing much better and has been moved out of the CCU to the step-down unit. We're pretty sure she'll be discharged tomorrow. I do have some shopping to do for my in-laws though, and I'll tend to that later today. I've been preparing meals for my FIL and I think he's set for today with left overs. I need to get some things done around home today, like pay bills! I just realized that I'm late on one of them--YIKES! I guess I just forgot about it.

I did not do cardio yesterday but I'm going to try to get it in today because I don't want to derail all my progress. I'm not sure what the rest of the week will bring. I suspect I'll be spending a lot of time with my in-laws.

You girls are the best and I can't thank you enough for all your kind words of support.

Michele

Good morning Queen hater and all you haters out there!

So glad to hear MIL is doing well. What a good DIL you are to make meals and help take care of the FIL!
Today is going to be nuts for me, back and forth to the other house (30 miles takes 1+ hour 1 way) so yes I will be dragging DD with me and it is raining today, oh yeah.

Well I am off.

Have a great day everyone!

Michele... What agreat DIL you are to do all that! It's not easy!!

Ok.. I need to do my cardio today!! Not sure what time yet..But I promise it will be done today to keep on track!

I'll check back later!!

Have a great day!

Thanks for the compliments. You gals are too kind. I must say I have pretty great in-laws and they've been really good to me.

Jana, I feel your pain! I don't envy you one bit. Please be careful driving back and forth in the rain.

Ellen, sending you {{{{{keep on track}}}}} vibes! I need to do my cardio, too. I think I'd rather be dipped in honey and strapped to an ant hill, but somehow I know I'll feel better if I do SOMETHING!

Michele

Mornin' chickadees!

Michele I'm so glad that your MIL is ok.

Today I have to take Gabe for x-rays to see if his cast is ready to come off so I'm using my lunch time for that. So no walk today and it is so nice out.

I'll have to get in some sort of cardio tonight plus I want to do weights so I"m thinking some type of circuit workout. I think I"ll do High Step Challenge.

Soccer starts on Monday so I'm going to need to work something out for my workouts for Monday's & Wednesday's (which is when practice is).

Well, off to the doctors!

Have a great day all you haters!

Sparrow, I hope you peek in here so you will know that I saw your post and I really appreciate you looking out for my best interests. I love people who give my a logical and reasonable excuse to pass on cardio and I want to adopt you as my little sister. :D

Seriously, thank you!

Michele

Dana, I hope all goes well at Gabes appointment. Your schedule is making me sleepy just reading about it--LOL!

Michele

Hi Everyone -

Michele - glad you are getting a much needed break to deal with your own life! You are such a good DIL.

Jana - be careful in the rain. It looks yucky out there.

Dana - I hope Gabe's appointment goes well.

Today I had Musclemax planned but slept in instead. I brought my gym bag to go do a full body endurance workout at the gym during lunch, so hopefully I will be able to go.

I have been really down the past few days. I have seemed to gain a few pounds and it is only getting worse. I haven't stepped on the scale because I know it will only depress me, but my clothes have been fitting really tight. I know the problem is that I have been snacking more because I am sooo hungry on days that I run. It just depresses me that a couple indulgences can actually make that big of a difference. Anyway, I will just watch what I am eating more closely and hopefully it will go back to normal soon. I have been stuck at about 3 pounds above my goal for the past 5 months. It is not really the weight that bothers me, just that I can't fit into my favorite pair of jeans that I was wearing all last year. And I wasn't even watching what I ate last year or exercising as regularly!!! Anyway, just had to vent.

{{{{{BIG HUGS}}}}} for Diane!

I know you'll be feeling comfy in those jeans before too long. Hang in there...this too shall pass. You've been pretty dedicated about your work outs. What are you eating? You probably need the extra calories to support your work out, just make sure the calories are nutrient dense. Have you thought about planning your snacks in advance? Maybe you could pack your snacks for work..things like lf cheese and celery sticks or fiber rich english muffins and PB...just an idea.

Don't feel too bad. I just consumed a days woth of calories in Reese's PB Eggs:eek: ;(

Michele

I think I have been generally eating okay, though lately I have been snacking at night on either cereal or having a bowl of lf ice cream. Here is a typical day:

B: either ww toast with low sugar preserves and cottage cheese and glass of milk, or a zone bar if I am on the run, or this week so far I have been having a big breakfast cookie (yum!).

L: varies a lot, but usually a salad with chicken and avocado and veggies or sometimes I have a 1/2 turkey sandwich and cup of black bean soup, just depends where I go for lunch. Yesterday was a thai restaurant where I had beef and brocolli (so bad but so yummy), and I eat there about once a week.

S: usually a zone bar, and I usually have a non-fat latte in the afternoon

D: I either make a recipe from a 40-30-30 cookbook or weight watchers cookbook. For example, tonight I am making tortilla pizzas with lf cheese, canadian bacon and pinapple with a small side salad - this is a recipe from the 40-30-30 cookbook.

I know I need to add more fruit and veggies to my day. I can also probably find a better snack than a zone bar to bring to work, but bars are just so convenient to have at my desk. Having lunch out at a restaurant every weekday is obviously not good, but it is what I have to do. My boss makes me eat out with other lawyers everyday (you know, get some connections). I get in trouble if I bring my lunch or eat at my desk. So I usually try to eat a salad or sandwich on ww bread.

Any tips for what I am doing wrong here? I usually don't have the extra snacks I have had for the past couple of days, and those will be easy for me to cut out.

Diane, I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you could add more veggies to your diet. I would try that for a couple of weeks and see if it makes a difference. You need to give it a fair chance, though.

I understand about needing to eat lunch out. My DH has a similar problem and you have to do what you have to do. I would go with soups and salads as often as possible and get your dressing on the side. I watched a program on FIT TV one evening, I think it was called the Diet Doctor, and she recommended that you get your dressing on the side, dip your fork into the dressing, then stab your salad greens and that way you get a little dressing in every bite without going overboard.

Michele

Hey guys-Michele you are right more veggies helps.
Let me add some humor here for everyone today since I am about to loose my mind with this move.....
I feel like a beached whale right now and I think I might look like one, I have called greenpeace to come out and hose me down until I can swim back into the ocean....In other words total bloat and bad eating really makes you feel yucky. I also went through the "OMG I am so hungry" when I upped the cardio and it's just your body reacting to the kick you are giving it and it will go away. Remember too you have horomones whuch can act really nutty at any time. Just hang in there and it will pass. Do try to fill up on fiber and veggies as much as you can. I add chick peas to my salad at lunch and that helps and also snack on hummus and raw veggies when I get sooo hunry (like at 4 when Oprah is on). My BF swears by Fiber One when she gets hunrgy, but let's face it that stuff is ohhh soooo nasty! Not for me.

Bottom line, don't let it get you down. I can so understand it is really easy to do (and I say that as my jeans are like way to snug on me right now. And you know worst case Greenpeace will be in town watering me down until I make it back to Galvestion and I can always send them your way...haha...and oh yeah I am married to a man who thinks the food groups are:pizza, mac and chz, ice cream, and James Coney Island...yeah try to stay skinny living with that.

Keep your hard work up! Hang in there!

I'm ROTFLMAO at the vision of Greenpeace hosing Jana down.

Hummus is a great idea for a healthy snack and it's really filling. I send my DH to work with it a lot, and I'll give him cut up veggeis and WW pita bread to have with it.

Michele

so what you think I am kidding....thank god it is raining today or else I would really be SOL waiting for Greenpeace to get here. I had such a moment at the store yesterday walking down the isles I felt like I needed reeces peanut butter mini cups and last night I said "oh just one", yeah that was like I already shoved 5 into my mouth and of course that was followed by the 4 cheese potatoes I had with my turkey sausage last night. Normally I make that for DH and I will eat veggies and brown rice...oh no....not last night....oh wait let me make it even worse, when I was done with what was on my plate I decided to eat more out of the pot and while I was pushing them into my mouth I had too much and ended up spilling some on the grill (they missed my mouth) oh yeah top that one if you can.
Oh I am hiding my head in shame right now. Damm PMS and stress Damm youx(

Just yesterday I asked for a good hummus recipe on the forum and got a couple that looked good. I never like the stuff at the store, but LOVE fresh hummus, so I thought I would make my own. I was thinking that would be a good snack to have at night when I get the munchies, and I can eat it with some raw veggies (get in some veggies) and ww pita bread. I just didn't have time to run by the store yesterday to get the ingredients to make it. If I get off before 7 pm tonight, I may run by the store to get the ingredients.

I definitely feel like a beached whale right now too! I am trying to drink a ton of water today to hopefully flush out some of that bloat.

Diane, do a hummus search. Somebody posted a thread with several variations on hummus recipes a few weeks ago. I wish I could remember who.

Jana, I ate an entire bag of those little foil wrapped Reese's PB Eggs over a 2 day period. Needless to say, I'm not going to buy any more candy!

My lunch today is going to be chicken sausage and stirfried cabbage.

Michele

Jana - believe me, I can top that. I am just too embarrassed to say what I ate the other day...

I made it to the gym for lunch and had a pretty good full body weight workout. During my shower routine, I washed my fash as usual, but then afterward realized that I had forgotten my make up bag at home! My hormones must be going crazy because I am breaking out a lot right now (which my also explain my crazy food cravings and weight gain), so I didn't feel comfortable going back to work without makeup on. I know, it is vain, but my face looked horrible. The problem is that my house is a 30 min drive from downtown. So I drove to the nearest grocery store and bought some Maybelline makeup. I hadn't used this kind of make up since high school, and I can't believe how horrible it is compared to what I use now! Oh well, at least I am not showing my zits to the world.

Anyway, so I got back downtown for a late lunch at my desk - a turkey sandwich - and also realized that the sandwich place also sold hummus and pita bread for $2! So I got that too and it was yummy. That will be a good afternoon snack on days I don't want a Zone bar.

So, where is the "cardio" in this "I Hate Cardio check-in"???

Sorry, had to pop in to check in on you guys and I am seriously considering lacing into each of you!:p

You guys can do this!! The more you put it off, the harder it becomes! It will help! Cardio burns fat! Get in there and do it! Once you start seeing the pay offs, you all might just learn to love cardio and refuse to go without it! Let's not forget about the endorphin release that feels so freaking good!

Each day that you go without missing your cardio, puts you that much closer to turning it into a habit that is second nature and a total breeze!

I KNOW You guys can do this! Push yourself! It will be worth it!! Summer is almost here!!! How do you want to look in those shorts???

Sarah: Whoa - hold up, who said I would be wearing shorts? I would rather suffer in jeans in 100 degree heat than show my legs. Just kidding.

We are doing the best we can! I did cardio 6 days last week! Today was a weight training day for me, that's all, I promise. Tomorrow is a run/walk again, I swear. Sarah, I know you are a runner. How often do you run and how far? I am just starting out and doing 4 days a week for 30 minutes, but eventually want to run more days a week than that.

Whoa! Sarah! Oh my girls, we're being discplined from outside again--LOL!

Sarah, I just want you to know that I've done cardio 5 to 6 days a week for 3 weeks now--really--and that's a lot considering how much I hate it. I just took yesterday off, but I've been doing double duty for family with hospital runs, etc., so I hope I can be excused. AND, sometimes we just like to chat, too.

You cardio lovin maniacs just don't know what to make of us, do you? LOL!

Michele:) :p :D
