I Hate Cardio - Aug 4

August

Cathlete
Good morning!

Michele - Haha, August's Magic Barley cookbook. Now that's something I need to think about!....................So..........was the dryer vent cleaner cute? :)

Kate - Chocolate-covered barley. Hmm. I'll look into that, too. Hey, have you ever had chocolate-covered coffee beans? They're delicious until you start to shake uncontrollably when you realize after finishing the whole bag, that you've just consumed an entire bag of coffee beans.

Diane - The sluggish thing sucks. You might take a look at your digestion/diet? You might be mildly allergic to something and not know it - and it might be plugging up your pipes and creating an all-out sluggishness. It's great that you found a good doctor. Maybe she'll have some suggestions.

Okay, so let's see.

The good news : I still have a mountain of barley portioned out into 100 gram 1/2 cup servings and frozen in my freezer
The bad news : I've just found out that a 1/2 cup serving is 79 grams. I guess it's not that incredibly off, eh? Okay, so I'll tweak my menus to adjust.

What else?

The bad news : I finished all the peanut butter in my apartment
The good news : I finished all the peanut butter in my apartment
The better news : I won't have time to pick up more peanut butter for at least a few days so this in an opportunity to get myself off of the excessive peanut butter

I dunno, it's like that chocolate I had last Sunday as a treat opened up the gates into Old Habit World. I'm going to nip that in the bud right NOW. If there is any late-night snacking to be done, by Gawd, it will be on green beans LOL!

And so now that I am settled into a good macro ratio, it seems I need something else to tweak (eye roll here) and now I'm thinking that I really should be doing an endurance with some kind of interval rotation. I bite my tongue to be saying it here, but you guys will understand and forgive - I simply need to up my cardio. Hmm. Yes,...endurance weights, an interval, more cardio... :-( whooops, wrong icon, I mean uh, :7 !

So now I will put some hours into researching the Cathe website for info on endurance rotations. SOMEONE STOP ME! Anybody know a good endurance rotation?

Well, I had KPC lined up for today, and mentioned a few days ago that I might do a switcheroo and do Kickmax instead, but ultimately I did Bodymax. (When I say I did Bodymax, it really means that I did the first 25 minute step portion of Bodymax - not the whole 90 minutes eegads). I'm actually getting better (I think?). I might even do it one more time this evening. Did I really just write that? The first section really whips me. I guess that's the purpose. :)

What's up with you guys today?

August, you never fail to put a smile on my face. You are a bonafide HOOT! I would definitely buy that cookbook and the title is perfect--ROTFLMAO! I'm just itching to come over there and have a look at your kitchen. I have a vision of you with your little food scale and a bulk of sandwich size zip lock baggies, scooping up exactly 100 gram portions of barley--LMAO. So, at least you erred on the side of caution, eh? It's like the oldy saying goes--better not enough than too much. I LOVE chocolate covered coffee beans, but yeah, you have to be careful with those, you nut. I don't know about this idea of yours --to swap out chocolate for green beans. Now that's odd, to say the least. However, I do think your cookbook should include some choice recipes for green beans as well as barley. Or maybe a recipe that combines the two. I'm thinking this is the new power food of the 21st century. I predict you'll be famous and you'll have the #1 rated cookbook on Amazon. I agree with you about the endurance workout plan. I think that's what I need, too. I'm sure that Cathe posted some endurance rotations. I still don't have an adequate selection of DVD's for a rotation but I'm working on it.

I'm planning to pop C&W in the ole DVD player today. I haven't tried it yet so wish me luck. I'm going to keep LIS on hand just in case I can't make it through C&W. I just got an email notice that my order shipped from Cathe so I'm pumped about that.

The dryer vent guy wasn't much to look at but he was really nice. He got all excited when he saw my DH's target hanging on the refrigerator (DH's hobby is target shooting and he always puts his target up on the refrigerator like it's a work of art or something:7 :+ ). Anyway, this vent guy is totally into the sport of shooting and has his own target range. He gave me his card for my DH and I think the 2 of them will be fast friends. Oh, that little mousy came in through the dryer vent. He showed me where the mouse chewed through the flexible aluminum hose:eek: . I never did find that little varmint and my kitty is still on the prowl:eek: .

Diane, Janjan, Dana, Kate--hello, good morning, what 'cha doin'?

Good Morning Ladies -

Last night we had a kitty breaththrough moment. The kittens just all of a sudden out of no where crawled into my lap, snuggled up, and started purring. They did that for the rest of the night, going back and forth to DH and my laps. Only a couple times they went one to each lap (which is preferrable, hard to pet two kittens at a time), they usually liked to stay together. The cutest thing ever was when they were both on my lap and Sydney grabbed Sadie, put her arms around her, and gave her a bath for like 5 minutes. DH and I were just giggling all night, they kept doing the cutest things. We took a ton of pictures of it, so I will have to download them and post this weekend.

No workout this morning, though I may do one after work. I got up in time to workout, had breakfast, then snuggled back in bed with DH and the kittens. It was just too cute, hard to pass up.

Diane, now aren't you glad you took both of them? I couldn't get enough of my kittens and watching them play, snuggle, and bathe each other always brought sheer joy to my heart.

So, Janjan, what about Cosmos?:p :7

Oh, hiya, Michele!

I just tried getting to sleep early tonight. Obviously it was a no-go.

You have the vision right with me in my tiny kitchen weighing everything I eat like a maniac...it's gotten to a point that if my scale ever broke down, I'd really be at a loss as to how much of what to eat! That could be on the verge of unhealthy, me fears? LOL.

Unfortunately, I erred on the "too much" on the barley. I have been consuming too much barley! Ack! My carefully, perfectly portioned out portions are not the right portion. How on earth did I used to eat before I started this craziness?! :*

I took a look through the endurance rotations. I know I've mentioned this before, but I have a problem when a rotation has more than one DVD being used on the same day. I don't know why that is, but once I put in a workout, I can't do part of it and then do a part of a different one. So that crossed off a lot of rotations right there...not to mention, like you, I just don't have enough of Cathe's cardios to really do the rotations. But I'm going to fix that problem! I just need to decide. Now you can torture me with my decision making. :+

So glad to hear that the vent guy was really nice and that he hit it off with your DH! How cute! Heheh, refrigerator art :D .

And I know you don't think it's cute, but I think it's cute how Mr. Mousey chewed through the flexible aluminum hose. I can just see him chewing away and having a ball!

Okay, I'm excited to hear how C&W went. I think that one was on my list...man, there are so many on my list now, I have no idea.

Ooh, and I did do that first section of Bodymax one more time in the afternoon! Woo!

Beans and barley, what fun.
I missed it, what was wrong with your dryer? Can you not hang stuff out cuz the humidity is so bad?

Today, I am taking the girls and some friends to the Aquatic Center. Now that my little one can swim, I am hoping she will let me take her down their huge slide. Fun, fun, fun

Today is an easy day. Imax 2 and some abs. It is over already, yeah and time to take a shower

Everyone have a good day!

Hello everyone,

Must be quick need to get in the shower. Had a horrid night last night and threw my plans all off for the day. Was going to see a friend who lives 2 hours away today, but DD woke up at 1 AM last night screaming about something and would not go back to sleep until 2:30 and then I could not go back to sleep until 5 and then the power went off until 6....uuuhhhhhhh....not fun...got up at 7:30 and now I think I am tired, can't tell yet. Crazy night, I take it as a sign from God I was not supposed to drive that far today. So, I stayed home to finish up school project. After Sunday I am done!!! yeah!!!
Well I am done for 1 week and then back at it.

Michele-to answer the question, no Cosmos. DH has said no. Too much kitty poop, kitty food, etc, etc. I said fine. How is C&W are you there yet? Don't get freaked out at first, you will get it over time...just keep at it.

Diane-it's hoooooottttttt....uuuuhhhhhhhh.......I think I could take more of the heat, I just wish someone would crank the humidity down. geeze.

August-what can I say??...I will have to come back to you, you crack me up. Nut!

Kate-Swimming sounds sooo good right now. Can I come to? We know you are off your rocker when you say "
Today is an easy day. Imax 2 and some abs"...since when is IMAX2 easy???? Must be the heat talking there.....

Ok I am off. Have a good one everyone!

Speaking of not being able to sleep...

Hey, Kate, yeah, what's up with that "easy" IMAX2 business, anyway?

Urgh, Jana, what a bummer not to be able to fall back to sleep. And then to have the power go off?! Oh, brother. And to think, if you'd been sleeping, you probably wouldn't have even known the power had gone off!

Well, anyway, it's great that you have a one-week break from school coming up. Woo hoo!

Well, the zzzs don't seem to be anywhere in site.

.................................................................oh gosh, I just remembered I have tahini in my fridge. Not as good as peanut butter but.......NO! No, no.

I wonder how tahini goes with dried dates? NO!

Uggg - I ate dessert at lunch and feel horrible. (Jana - went to Artista again). We were interviewing someone to fill a position of someone else that just left. I like her, we have a lot in common and she seems normal. It will be nice to have more girls around here too.

I need to go for a jog after work but it is so dang hot outside I might faint. Maybe some indoor cardio and quick weight lifting.

We are going out to drinks tonight with some friends. It will be weird not to drink at all - just being careful in the off chace I am be preggo. One can hope right (even though two negative tests!).

Isn't that supposed to be, "I ate dessert at lunch and feel mystical." ? :)

I made it through the night without getting tahini fingers. I've got to try out one of those recipes from the links Michele sent so I can get rid of the tanihi before it gets bad!

Although tomorrow is high day...and I've got lots of dried dates that need to be eaten, too....hmmm.

Okay you guys, help me on the DVDs!! I'm dangerously getting into that "oh, what the heck, why not" mode because my list is so enormous anyway. It's like "What's 2 more workouts onto 50? Sure, I'll just get this one, too."

Anyone know much about Gin Miller?

My Cathe list grew, too. I think it might be because I've been looking over the rotations and just want to do one without having to substitute :D .

Here's my list of Cathe that I'm thinking:

Basic Step (Body Fusion)
LIS (Body Sculpting)
IMAX 2 (C&W)
Low Max
S, J, P (Step Blast)
CTX
Cardio Kicks (Circuit Max)

Am I taking myself down Knee Injury Boulevard here?

The remainder of my list is non-Cathe and is 17 DVDs long. x(

Do I weed or just go for it face first?

Oh, oh, almost forgot. Today is Power Hour. Endurance. :-( Whoooops, I mean, :7 !

1st question is-how is your knee feeling? SJP is fun and good music. LowMax, ok that is where my knee started really getting bad was after doing it several times. I don't know why, I think it was the step height...no take that back it was the step height.......

All I can say is...if your knee is still bothering you, you need to do the exercises to work your quads. If you don't have them let me know.

Cardio Kicks might be a better thing for you. With the SJP you can do the high/lo stuff on the floor and not do the step so that might be a good idea.

I think you should figure out your knees before you do anything. Just my 2 cents. Knee injuries really, really, really suck!
