I had to bring it up again -The MOVE - what's the deal?

I think someone posted that you should start with Yoga blocks under your hands...I still cannot get this a%$ off the ground....I'm curious if anyone can also...:)...Carole

I'm going to try this again, but use my 5 lb. weights, as someone else suggested. The problem I had here was that it started to hurt my fingers and wrists.

DH and I were just experimenting with this impossible move. We found that we could get our butts off the ground (slightly) only when our legs were "woven" the old-fashioned yogi pose. (the one where you pull your right foot up onto your left thigh, and the left foot onto the right thigh.) This way we didn't have to hold our feet up, they were wedged!

I think doing it this way probably defeats the "core" move though, since holding your feet up is what seems to work the core muscles.

I can only do this move with my shoes off. The sneakers add too much weight. I suggest the dumbells if you are having wrist problems.

I can do it, but I'm feeling things (tendons?) twitching in my arms/elbows that feel dangerous -- like something could pop.

I might try the 5-lb. dumbbell idea.

I can do it for about 2 seconds. I feel like i'm rocking back and forth while I'm trying to hold my self up. I do thing this move is doable, but with time(maybe lots of that). It good to practice while while TV.

RE: I had to bring it up again -The MOVE - what's the d...

I can actually do it also with the suggestion from someone of getting into the lotus pose first. I can't get my body up as quickly as Cathe and crew as I have to find the right hand placement for balance, but I can do it. I just go at my own pace and will work up from there.

It's definitely doable. It has as much to with balance and weight distribution as it does with strength.

I've only done Core Max once, but I was able to hold this for about 2-3 seconds at a time - I imagine it'll get easier to hold it longer over time. Getting into Lotus position definitely helps. I also used hands flat on the floor instead of the being propped up the fingers like Cathe and the crew.

As Gayle has stated it is doable. If I can do this move holding it for 10 sec. you can too. I have to do it however w/bare feet (no sneakers) this makes it much easier & stay up on your finger tips. Make sure your hands are NOT in front of you but along your sides. Can't hold it much longer than that though. I'm still working on it. Good luck! Kathy:D

Wow Gayle, you must have long arms to do this move flat handed! :). I can barely get my hands flat on the floor just sitting there... I could probably do this move if I didn't feel like my fingers were going to snap off  I'll have to try the dumbbell option.

I was shocked that I could do it the first time trying. I used yoga blocks. Then I tried it without them and couldn't do it. I don't know if it was because I was already fatigued. You definitely have to play around with your hand placement. Keep trying you will get it.

I think they're just long enough! :) :)
