I find it so amusing....

The heavy breathing usually happens in the class with the really hot instructor! Grrrrrrr! The breathe work is what makes it so hard. To breath diaphramatically while doing an advanced pose or taking a simple one deep and holding it until you want to cry but knowing you are required by yoga law to look serene, is remarkably challenging. I get some incredible DOMS and it has transformed my shoulders and triceps in a way I found difficult to acheive with weights. Yoga is a beautiful thing!

I actually "rest" on my rest day (which I call my "off" day). When I do yoga or stretch or any exercise, I count it as an exercise day. This month, I'm doing an "every day in April" challenge, so will be doing some form of workout every day, but I only do that once or twice a year. Otherwise, I take one day (sometimes two) off a week.

I wouldn't call yoga/stretching "rest," but rather a "recovery" type of workout in some contexts.

I do indeed rest on my rest/off day. That's when your body recovers and recoups and gets a chance to relax. To me, it is a *very* necessary part of training. At most, I stretch, but I rarely even do that these days.

Well, Ok, but I am keeping an eye on you in future. }( }( Can't have you overdoing it and being carted off for enforced rest in some rehabilitation centre for over-zealous catheites!

Take care now....

Clare :)

I also have to rest on my rest day, I have at least one or two a week. If I don't then I get major burnout. After my rest day, I am usually like "WAHOO, CATHE HERE I COME!!!" I am so excited to be active again. I need that break just to spark my interest over and over again. Pam

So THAT'S what I have been doing wrong! I have actually
been RESTING on my rest days! :p ;)

I definately am known to get antsy on my rest days unless I have a full schedule planned. I think I will start to incorporate stretchmax on my rest days from now on...It will help satisfy the work out urge AND will get me stretching more...I still don't do a good complete stretch often enough...:(

Honey, you enjoy those rest days now! There's going to come a day when you won't know what a rest day is. You may even forget words like "rest" and "day". When my first daughter was born, I knew I was in trouble when I could not come up with the words"ironing board" even though I was sure I knew the name of the thingy you used to make clothes look less like you'd slept in "em. ;)

I never "schedule" my rest days because I get so many that are unscheduled! I consider every day a day to workout so that when I have to miss one or two I don't go crazy!!!

Hey I'm a rester! The most I do is walk a dog or 2 or 3 or 4 or...I give an extra push on the day before and I just sit back and enjoy the DOMS!

LoL, Bobbi...you definately have a point there! Maybe I will reconsider that statement and try to ENJOY the few rest days I have left! ;-)

My rest day is a rest day:p, but I've got 5 kids 10 and under, so I guess that would qualify as "active recovery", yes?:p
