I discovered my squat rack!!!

DH and I have a Smith Machine with a squat rack that has the safety latches/slides up and down. (Make sense???? Not exactly sure what its called!:eek:)

Welllll, we were downstairs lifting together tonight and I used it for the first time. Mind you, we've had this thing for 4 years! FOUR! AND I"VE NEVER USED IT!!!! Crazy, no?

I used it for squats tonight and WHAT A WONDERFUL MACHINE!!!! It sunk my butt down so good and low and it made me have PERFECT form. I felt it in my butt immediately! My low back has always bothered me on squats and I hated them.

I have a new favorite exercise!!! I can't wait to feel how sore my keester is tomorrow night!

Thanks for listening!

Kate - way to go! You are lucky to have a place for a Smith machine - I love those things. One of the reasons I miss the gym...Way to go, and enjoy the pain :p

Shana, We have a workout room in our basement. It has just enough room for that beast of a Smith machine and our dumbbell rack. And, of course, since DH is a plumbing contractor, we have a water cooler!;)
We've made some rather hefty purchases this month and we are infiltrating the rest of our basement, in other words, our daughters play area!:p We bought an elliptical, a versaclimber, and a leg press machine! I'm still in shock - and my butt is gonna be too!:p

OMG I am so jealous! I love the smith machine! Kate, I do static lunges on them too. That machine is awesome for any leg routine! :)

Kate - I remember wanting to move in with you when I read about the leg press the other day! Now I'm pretty sure I want to :) I can bring some cool stuff too! Do you like the versaclimber?? I looked at those online for a while but went with the stepmill instead. Man, sure wish we had a basement! It would be stuffed with my toys - the smith machine and leg press are the two things I would love to squeeze in but since the bedroom is my gym, I am running out of space. Luckily, it is a big room...still, I do like my sleep so the bed will probably need to stay ;)

laura, ive got lunges planned for tomorrow!:D

shana, the versaclimber is AWESOME!!! i used one at a gym a while back and it is quite possibly the hardest cardio machine ever. dh has never used it but just hearing me talk about it he was dying to get on. :D you feel like you're climbing a mountain at warp speed.
ive never used a step mill but it looks great. oh, jeez! something to buy next year!:D
lol on the bed comment!
come and road trip here anytime you want!;)

Hey Kate -- please let me know when you get an Arc Trainer. Then I'M moving in. BTW -- I also love those Smith machines. Never knew about them till I joined a gym a few months ago. So jealous that you have one in youre basement.

(Oh, and I keep meaning to tell you this. From the RT you and I were in the same area of the gym for a few classes. I have a bunch of RT pics on my screensaver and one of them is you and me and a few others doing step. You were what -- 28 weeks preggers? So in my mind you must still be that way - HA!)

lorrie, ive never used an arc trainer......
between that and the step mill that shana likes i've got a few more purchases lined up!;)

yeah, i was 28 wks preg at rt! good memory!
definetly not preg anymore, tho i might go for #4:eek:! julia kate is 3 months and oh-so-chubby-smiley-sweet!
here's a (really bad) pic of me w/ my hoodlums:

this pic cracks me up! gina (on the left) is such a camera hog. isabel (on the right).....when she's done, she's done! sweet julia just sleeps thru it all, and me? i sit here smiling w/ a goofy look on my face and my frizzy hair going in 10 directions!

Oh YES definitely -- and NOW who's got the good memory? HA!

OHMYGOSH Kate what a BEAUTIFUL bunch of girls you all are!!! I am so glad you posted that picture - I guess that little precious snoozing bundle on your shoulder is the "bump in your belly" on my screensaver. lol. Next time I am on my TM or elliptical and that picture flashes by I'll try to recall this one instead. #4 -- OH MY! You go girl!

Kate - what a great pic! I had just looked at your profile to figure out what you looked like after reading your posts for almost a year now :) Very sweet.

Now, about the arc...I missed that. I have one. Before you buy, let fill you in. I don't want to do it here though. Cybex has been very good to me but it has been an interesting road.

I've never used a Smith machine but what I miss most about a gym membership is the cable crossover machine. I freakin' love cables. I keep wondering how I could ever have a cable crossover machine in my house (overtime is starting to pick up at work again) if I have a home gym and a treadmill. If I were to join the two front bedrooms I bet I still wouldn't have enough room... But yea, a cable crossover machine would be awesome and I'd use it all the time.

Shana & Stacey, You guys are enabling me way too much!:D
I am so done for now, though, on spending!
My cc bill came this week and I went :eek::eek:!!! We knew it was coming but YIKES!:D All I can say is I'm grateful for a hard-workin' hubby!
