Last night I tried to do ME and as soon as I started the leg presses I noticed my left knee was hurting so I couldnt do that part. I really struggled through the whole workout. It was like I didnt have the energy to do it. I am kind of discouraged right now. BTW, I bought a used original club steb with six risers from Play it again sports for $50. Was that a good deal? Im not good at estimating how much a used item should cost. I cant wait to break it in, but right now my knee hurts really bad. :(

That's a great deal on the step, I think mine was $85 new.

If you are in pain, you should definitely avoid activities that aggravate that area. Ice, advil, and a little rest go a long way. If you're new to Cathe, try to ease in your workouts so you don't overdo it and injure yourself.

Hang in there, it all comes together!

Take care,
Marie

Hey,
I wanted to chime in speaking from personal experience and what my sports doctor said... When I had my second baby, I put on 100 pounds from the pregnancy alone. I had hurt my knee playing soccer when I was a teen so my knee was somewhat funky for a long time. After I had my baby, I went back to working out but slowly. After 2 months, I did IMax2 but not with jumps or anything as I was too overweight and knew I could hurt my joints. My doctor said it wasn't a good idea to do any jumping if I'm too overweight and my joints were too weak to do that type of a workout. He said the heavier you are, the more strain you put on your knees. I stayed away from jumping for a while. Lost a lot of weight and did squats to strengthen my knees (I can't do lunges. It's very off limits for me). Now I can do anything but I still have about 30 more pounds to lose. I would take it slowly and work your way up. I know you get excited and want to do exactly what Cathe does. I've been there MANY times. It's better to take it slowly, build up your strength. Trust me, it's better this way. Hope this helps!

RE: I couldnt workout last night... was the imax2 too ...

It doesnt hurt to walk but it hurt when I tried to step up on the high step. I will rest it for a couple days. if it still hurts then I will go to the dr.

Are you being careful with your form? Making sure that your knee isn't extending past your toe? You should be making a right angle with your leg.

I would definitely rest it for a few days and see how it goes.

Also make sure your knee isn't buckling in.

And you also don't have to do the high step as high as Cathe and the crew are doing. So once you get back to doing it, start out at 10" perhaps.

I am fairly new to Cathe. I have been starting her workouts carefully as I just healed up from a disc problem and a shoulder injury.
Here is what I do. When I get a new step dvd, I watch it once. Then I do it once with no risers. Then I decide where to go from there.
Especially if you have six risers! My step only came with 4.
Good luck. Make sure you take care of your knees now so they will work for you a long time!!
