I Can't Stand....

smoogy

...having stray hairs hitting my sweaty forehead while I work out. It bugs the major crap out of me. Therefore, I use about a hundred bobby pins & keep telling myself I should just give in & wear an old-fashioned 70's headband.

I also hate to have one little minute corner of my sock wrinkle, 'cause I can feel it in my shoe & can't have a decent workout. I will have to stop, undo my shoe, smooth out my sock & then continue until it's all ironed out. Sometimes it can take a few tries. I don't know. Maybe it's my imagination. Maybe a little OCD.

Anyone else have a few idiosyncrasies?

Hi Marla....I've been wearing the 70's headbands since....http://bestsmileys.com/exercising/5.gif[/img]...the LATE 70's!!! Hate hair in my face!...another thing when trail running I hate getting a rock in my shoe...drives me nuts....http://bestsmileys.com/expressions/1.gif[/img] Carole

Oh, I know what you mean. I can't stanbd to watch Cedie and Cathe work out with their long hair down, covering the back of their necks, falling on their faces. Yuk! I like mine all off my face with either clips or a 70's style head band! I'm one Groovy Chic!

Ditto the sock wrinkle. There's no way I'm even starting to work out until that wrinkle is eliminated!!

I think that is the extent of my workout OCD's.

Carole! Such a cute emoticon! Ok. So where DO I get one? I swear, I don't recall seeing one at the local drug store. But I promise, next time I spot one, I'll buy the whole supply!

Marla:p

LOL! I just still can't get past Cathe's bangs! I love her to death but sometimes I really wonder how stands them!

Marla

Thanks...:)...I've gotten mine at Target, Shopko, Walmart or any Sporting Good stores...http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/hyper.gif[/img]...Carole

Marla, I know what you mean. I use a scarf which keeps my hair out of my face completely. I tie it on real tight so it doesn't come off. I know I look like a cajun mama, but who cares! LOL
I am also going to start working out without shoes or socks so my feet can breathe alittle more. I will put on my shoes just for when I need to use the stepper.

Charlotte~~

LOL Marla. You are too funny. :7

Guess what I wear when I work out to keep the hair out of my face?? A HEADBAND!!!:p I swear by it. If I forget to put it on, I will stop my work out and go grab it cause it bugs the heck out of me not to have it on.

I also totally understand the sock thing. I have taken off a shoe many times because of an uncomfortable bunching of the sock around my toes. It drives me insane!!!

See? You are not so wierd after all! :+

And one of my own....the step HAS to be straight and in the middle of the room. If the step is placed crooked or off-center it bugs me and I have to stop my work out to fix it....

I know what you mean, I am a pony tail gal (which is hard cause my hair is just growing out) and use a few hair clips. Maybe I'll try a sweatband too cus sweat dripping into my eyes also drives me nuts. I have to stop to wipe up otherwise my eyes burn. Can't help you about the socks, must be a princess and the pea thing (just kidding...LOL)

I can't stand hair anywhere on my face either, so I always tie my hair up into a ponytail. What irks me is when I get so sweaty. Not only does sweat pour into my eyes, but the tip of my ponytail gets really wet, and when I'm jumping around it feels like being lashed by a horse's tail on the back of the neck. I should get a haircut. Take 4 inches off.

I'm not very particular about the socks but I'm quite prissy with how my shoes are tied. Not too tight, not too loose. It's hard to get it right the first few tries with new shoes.

It's probably not OCD, Marla, but more of a sensory issue. I can't stand shirt tags sometimes, especially those on the inner part of a shirt that hits me right at the side of my waist. That just drives me nuts. And I can't sleep without a pillow or folded blanket on my tummy, otherwise I feel vulnerable. My son's OT explains this as my needing the sensation of pressure as a calming mechanism. I think she's right. Without the weight of something on my tummy, I find it hard to settle down enough to sleep.

This thread is too funny. All of us in our ponytails and headbands. We would really make a great video wouldn't we. I tried to let my bands grow out for about six months just so they wouldn't hang in my face. They got long enough to put in the ponytail and then what did I do ,cut them back to normal length. Now I'm back to bobby pins. Another thing I can't stand is when the phone rings. I won't answer it but I want to know who is calling. I usually take the phone off the reciever and toss it under a pillow so I can't hear it ring. Then later when the phone rings we all search the sofa to find out where mom threw the thing. Karen

I hate when the phone rings too and often times I will pull the plug on the phone in the room I exercise in until I am done so that I can't hear it ring...

I wear a wide head band on or a bandana like a biker chick. They go right in the laundry each day, and I have about a million of them.

My favorite sock are thorlos (sp?) they are well cushioned and never wrinkle.

Wendy, I like the step in the middle of the workout area too!

Ditto. I cannot understand how Rhonda, Lorraine, Cedie, Brenda, work out with their hair down. It must be SOOO uncomfortable.

I have been thinking of getting the 70's style terry headband for weeks. The sweat drips in my eyes so bad that they are red and burning for a couple hours afterward. It looks like pinkeye. I also used to have the sweaty ponytail too. I just got my hair cut the other day, I love it. I won't have such a long ponytail now.

Wendy,

I am exactly the same with my step. It has to be in the PERFECT spot in the room and can't be crooked!! Also, in the basement room where I work out, there is a light fixture (just a light bulb) that is above my step. I have to make sure I don't bonk my head on it and break it, so the step position has to be perfect!!

I don't answer the phone either. My DH knows this, so when he calls and I don't answer, he calls right back. So I will sometimes answer it the second time if it rings twice in a row, thinking it will probably be him. Doesn't do me any good to answer the phone in the middle of the workout, anyway, as it usually takes me a couple of minutes to catch my breath and be able to talk normally!!

Well, my hair's all one length so I don't have the hair in the face problem, but the sock thing definitely drives me nuts. Not only the wrinkle but the seams at the toes--if the seam is off center it digs into the side of your foot & gets so uncomfortable. How come no one has invented seamless socks?
