Just registered for my 1st marathon.:cool::p:confused::D:):p:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Chicago 10/09/11 with training starting the beginning of June. Panic has now set in :p:eek:

I did a hilly half last Fall in 2:18 and have a flat half on 05/01/11. I'm hoping for 2 or under in May, and hoping to finish around 5:30 in October.

I figure double the half time, and then add another good chunk, because I know I'll slow down as I get tired. I'm a slow runner, so I don't know how much I can slow down without going backwards :p

Scared/jazzed/excited/happy/terrified/can't wait!!!!

AWESOME!!!!! I know the daunting feeling for clicking that button. I'm planning my first Half at the end of May. My goal is under 2:15, since I've only been running since August. I plan to do my first full marathon next year.

I did my 1st 5K last Saturday....I did pretty good considering.....I am kinda of addicted....looking forward to try and do another one.

Yeahhhh, Nan!! I'm sooo proud of you! We ALL know you can do it and you are sooo supported!

Keep us posted!

I have also caught the race bug. I have always wanted to do one & took the plunge last spring with an 8K - LOVED IT!!! I have 4 under my belt now & one coming up for Valentines wknd. I also "clicked the button" I signed up for an irongirl in Aug. I totally understand about freaking out. When I visit the irongirl web-site I get all jittery & my heart rate surely must go up. Mind over matter! I can do this! :D

WTG, Nan!!!

Having done Chicago as a first-time marathoner and also as a spectator, I think you've made an excellent choice for a first marathon. Although the weather can be a crapshoot, it's very well-organized, the course is FLAT and fun, and the million+ spectators are simply incredible. For me, it was truly a life-changing experience. The Expo's pretty awesome, too. I just love Chicago!

To borrow from Confucius, it matters not how slowly you go, as long as you keep going!
