I am so proud of myself - no more late night noshing!

I was really getting down on myself due to my nocturnal munchies.

I have stopped putting a thing in my mouth at least 3 hours before bedtime. I am keeping a food journal and so far I am doing great! Keeping a record of the exact portions I eat really keeps me on target.

I am conditioning myself to eat only at the table. I no longer watch television or read with a snack in hand. Food is only to be consumed when I am at the kitchen table.

Before bed, I thoroughly brush and floss my teeth (I floss at least twice daily), take my meds, put on my hand cream and lip treatment and go straight to bed (I do my skin care routine after my post workout shower - usually earlier in the evening).

I also find that if I take my evening meds on an empty stomach, I go to sleep within 15 to 20 minutes.

Actually, the meds are all to be taken on an empty stomach.

I also go straight to bed at 12:00 a.m. No more late nights for me.

I also go to bed, knowing I can eat a good breakfast when I wake up.

One other thing I've found helpful is to not drink liquids right before going to bed. That way I don't have to get up to pee!

My goal is to lose 12 pounds by my 53rd birthday on October 2nd.

If I succeed, I am going to treat myself to something special and not food oriented.

Perhaps Kathryn will create some more killer workouts for my butt!

Kathryn, you are killing me but in a good way!

Wow good job! I will try to incorporate some of your tips! I too am a Nosher when watching TV.. it seems like if I don;t have something to eat while watching I get fidetty or something! I only watch one show a night, and it is taped so it is really only 40 minutes, but boy can you pack in the calories in that amount of time! How did you stop doing this? just cold turkey? right now I am having a Klondike Slim a Bear which isn;t too bad in calories and fat.. this is my daily treat. I eat it with a spoon in a dish so it lasts longer.

Hi Deb,

I just went cold turkey.

I am on Day 6 of my plan and have yet to feel deprived. In fact, I feel better about myself and my goals.

I am proud of my willpower and I keep a vision of where I want to be with my weight and fitness.

I am keeping a food journal of everything I eat.

Before trying this, I know I was packing anywhere from 500 to 1000 extra calories a night.

Fortunately, I did not gain a lot of weight, perhaps 8 pounds at the most. I think doing Cathe's workouts and staying active are the only things that saved me from obesity.

My shorts, etc., are already feeling looser around the waist. I am not going to weigh myself until I hit the 2 week mark.

I really believe if a person stops eating 3 hours before going to bed and watches their daily caloric intake and work out, they WILL lose weight or inches.

I refuse to restrict my diet to halibut and yams, thank heavens since I don't like either of the foods.

I am choosing proper foods based on my personal preferences.

Right now I am doing a loss plan; when I hit my goal, I till do a maintenance plan.

Cheers!

Amy

Good for you Amy, I know old habits are hard to break, you have every reason to be proud of yourself!:7
When I feel the urge to snack while watching movies--usually with a glass of wine, relaxing with my DH, I calculate how many calories the wine has and then allow myself one apple if I really need to eat something. I cut it up into small pieces so it looks like alot of food and enjoy, guilt free.:)

I also like puffed corn cereal, no sugar or anything, the stuff you get at Whole Foods, its 60 calories for a cup and has that "popcorn" feel.

Keep up the good work.:)
