Hypothyroid anyone ?

Hi y'all !

I'm just curious if anyone might have good tips here as I've just been diagnosed hypothyroid and the interesting thing is that my 'symptoms' seem to be snowballing from vague and not too intrusive to now becoming full on fatigue within only a matter of weeks. wah :(

I've just started a very small dose thyroid medication and they'll be checking my adrenals, etc.. as well in the next few weeks.

I'm used to being a very active, high energy person, so this is not an experience I'm adjusting to well or will be good at just 'resting' and hoping it will improve.

Meanwhile, I'm cutting back on caffeine, eat well and am taking multi vitamins, minerals, omegas, b-complex, etc... to support my bod.

Any other suggestions to support enhanced energy would be MUCH appreciated. :D

Thanks !!

The good news here is that you've been diagnosed.... in my experience, you'll feel tremendously better about a month after they get your meds in order. You'll have your energy back and feel like you again. I've been on meds for -- I don't even know -- maybe 20 years now? So, I've just mostly been steady state, with changes in the dose here and there, but really it's been no problem for me.

good luck!

I'm hypothyroid as well. It's taken about 5 months to get the dosage correct for my meds to get me back on par.

I didn't realize how awful I felt until I started feeling better (and knew how to recognize what I was feeling)! I was really, really exhausted, hair falling out, hungry, etc...
I found that continuing to work out helped stave off weight gain and kept my energy up as much as possible given the conditions. Also, closely watching your diet will help with the increased energy levels. Junk food = fatigue, at least for me.

Unfortunately, it's a battle that you'll continue to fight until you can get your hormones leveled out.

Yup, I have slight hypothyroidism, but I'm kind of irked that my doc doesn't want to medicate me yet, he wants to see if it gets worse and then medicate me. He just wants me to get blood tests every 3 months. I guess that he must not have gotten the set of golf clubs he wanted from the synthroid reps, or something.
