Hyperthyroidism

wonderwoman

Cathlete
Good Morning Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with this condition. If you have please share anything you can about it. Symptoms any treatment or causes. I'm going to my doctor today to finally have my blood drawn for this. I have so many symptons I believe are associated with this condition. My hair is falling out and thinning, insomnia, heart palpitations, irritable, constant ringing in my ears, and moodiness. I thought I was going crazy I thought it was everyday stress I thought I was depressed. I thought of so many things that could be wrong but I hope this is it. I'm 38 years old could it be hormones? I have no idea. I have no family history of thyroid problems but they say sometimes after you have a child your hormones can change. My daughter is 20 months old and I feel like I've been feeling like this for a while already. Hopefully I will find an answer :)

I have hyperthyroidism. They found it by a yearly blood check. I have the same symptoms as you. I also have a groiter, small that needs to be removed, but insurance won"t cover because pre-exsiting. Next year I will have it removed. They put me on thyroid meds to help. It does but i prefer to do the natural way. Kelp helps, liquid kind is tasteless and put on eye dropper full in morning coffee. Eating clean helps to a point. But I am not a doctor and should get it checked. Going gluten free helped me with the fatigue. Also, limiting my sugar helped with the heart palpitations. But like I wrote, it helped me. Please get it checked and if they decide to do a iodine uptake, that will show if you have a groiter. They may also do a cat scan. Do that too. It will show the size of groiter if you have one. I wish you my best and let us know what happens!

So I went to the lab yesterday and had my blood drawn and today the doctor called me and said my results came back negative. I guess I am going insane! LOL My 20 month old is still not sleeping through the night. She gets up around 3x during the night. I can't remember when was the last time she slept through the night. SIGH I really think I'm just sleeped deprived. Not to mention I get up at 330am to go to work. I'm just exhausted! I think sleep affects everything.
Thanks for listening Sara:)

You poor thing! Is this your first! Lack of sleep will definitely make you crazy - I have 3 kida! Have you read some of the great books out there on getting kids to sleep through the night?

No not my first but definitely my last! Like you I also have 3. All girls but my other 2 always slept through the night. Never had this occur before but are definitely right about being sleep deprived. I haven't read any books but have read info on line about things that can help. Thanks!

Again, so sorry! My first was my worst sleeper and they've gotten better! Lack of sleep can just destroy you.

I am not a "soap box" person but just wanted to share my personal experience: some of the things in your original post reminded me of some of my symptoms. There was a post about a week ago simply titled "paleo diet" If i weren't so tired myself I'd give you a link, but I responded and gave detailed info on how my experience was after going "paleo" for 2 months. I'm sure sleep deprivation is most/all of your problem, but it may give you something to think about/try since it wasn't thyroid.

Hope you get some sleep tonight!! My youngest will be 4 in May. It's easy to say since I'm sleeping through the night but love 'em up while you can :)
