Hurricane Gustav

Just wanted to offer my sincerest wishes for the safety and well-being of all those Catheletes in The Gustav Cone.

I understand the governors of Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi and Texas have opted to forego the Republican National Convention here in the Twin Cities in favor of taking care of their respective states during this fairly ominous Cat-3'er (thus far), and that Gustav is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast tomorrow morning.

Gulf Coast Catheletes, please take care! Let us know how you get on!

Love,

A-Jock

Yes, please take care and be safe!!

Thanks, guys! In the Houston area, we feel like we should be spared at least the initial impact of the storm. Whether or not it follows the models and comes back for a visit remains to be seen. Of course, the cone is so huge and we are very much in that cone. Stores are not crazy here, traffic is fine, and it is a hot, hot day today. It looks like September is going to come in as a very busy hurricane month with Hannah on the tail of Gustav and others possibly forming behind her. I just really feel for the poor people in Louisiana to Alabama who are evacuating and dealing with all that goes with that stressful process. Even Florida is not out of the woods and will be on the "wet" side of Gustav. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who are either evacuating or riding it out. Please just stay safe! FYI - Texas is an animal friendly shelter state...

Thank you! That was very sweet of you to post this. Shana and I are 7 miles or so from each other...so I piggie back what she says. We are right outside of Houston. My son's 9th b-day is on Labor Day.....we had a dual event planned. Kepping positive. I hope that those in the direct hit path....are spared in sooo many ways!

Thanks for your thoughts!

Thanks everyone. I live in south Louisiana about 80 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. We are preparing for the worse and are a little anxious. I live in a voluntary evacuation region, so we are not being forced to evacuate. We are expected to have Category 1 to 2 winds where I live. If I lived closer to the gulf, I would definitely leave. We always lose power during and after a hurricane. Hope to be back online and doing my Cathe DVD's a few days after the storm. I will let everyone know how it goes.

Adding my thoughts and prayers for all of you. So sad this is happening to that same area again so soon after Katrina.

Carol

Thanks! Being at the Florida/Alabama border, we are starting to already see the bands start rolling in with high winds. We just had a report of the tornado going through a couple miles from my house, so I'm not so worried about the hurricane, but it's the resulting tornados that scare the jeepers out of me!!!

I talked to Cyndi a couple of hours ago and they were all tucked in to wait out the storm.

Thanks for starting this thread, Annette!!!

Oh, I sure hope everyone is still doing ok in that area!!!!

Amy, you are right. There are so many resulting issues- not just the hurricaine itself. I hope you stay safe!!

Echoing the already-expressed sentiments & good wishes for all who may be in Gustav's path. Will be thinking of you.

I heard Gustav was downgraded to a category 2? Is this true?

Amy, how are tings in FL?
Yes, a category 2. There is talk of the levees in New Orleans being about full to the top. There is also talk of it slowing down and possibly stalling. That would be horrible for wherever it decides to do that. More thoughts and prayers to those in Gustav's path.

Somehow I don't think a category two would be much fun to live through either.

Agreed! I just meant, or was hoping, that Gustav was maybe starting to loose steam. I am actively praying for all our Cathe Nationals in the path of the storms.
