Hunger after workouts

Just wondering if anybody else has this problem. After almost every workout I have immediate hunger. The reason can't be because I am not eating enough during the day because I am sure I do. And I am only in so-so shape (working my way up!) so my body isn't very efficient at burning calories right now. So then after my workouts, I am probably eating back whatever calories I burned. It is making me sad because I feel like I will never get anywhere.
 
Do you have a little snack before your work out? Why don't you work oyour work outs around meal time?So when you finish working out you will just tak ein what you should be taking in.Or if you work out in the evenings then you could save 200-300 calories for a snack when your done.
Truth be known you are probably burning more calories now then what you will late until your body builds more muscle. Your body isn't use to what you are making it do.I worked out early today.I got up at 6:45 and did powerstrike at 7:00.When i work out in the morning I am hungry all day.I had half a bowl of oatmeal for my breakfast and a protein shake and 1 hour later I was starving but I put it off until lunch time.Now I should be o.k.If you aren't eating junk food when you are finished your work out I would say that you should be fine.Have a few crackers with peanut butter and a banana, that always fills me up. Ditto to what Lori said. Depending on the days workout, I can be hungry all day long! If it's a day I wake up and do an hour of cardio followed by an hour of weights, I am eating literally every 3 hours that day, so I'll keep fruits on hand that day, or snack size carrot sticks/celery sticks to munch on when it hits. I also notice I'm hungrier when doing a rotation of really heavy weight work. So as long as you chose fruits/vegs or foods in general that are fueling you and your next workout, you'll be fine. :)

I laugh at what you guys say. Exercise literally kills my appetite. Almost seems like when I eat clean, I have less of an appetite than when i eat junk. With my new "plan", I have decided to eat only when I am truly hungry, without putting too many hours between meals in conservation of muscle, but I found that today I haven't eaten nearly enough calories and I feel fine right now. Go figure. Maybe it will catch up with me on Day 3 or something.

For what it is worth, my lesser conditioned husband works out with me and often is hungry RIGHT AFTER he works out, which I find inconceivable!! Poeple I have worked out with in the past have also seemed to have this problem. Don't get mad and I don't know if this is the case with you, but could it be you are not exercising hard enough yet?? Intensity drives how hungry you are as well. Right after really is not typical unless you are not working cardiovascularly hard enough, or you did a weight tape and have not eaten in a while. Could this be possible, assuming you are eating enough total cals in your day????
 
It's funny you should say it takes your appetite because when I just do cardio alone, I have no appetite for several hours after I work out, it's the weights that perk my appetite! Especially lifting heavy!

When I work out any other time of the day, I don't get hungry.I get hungry when I usually do, when it is meal time.I don't think, in my case, that it as anything to do with intensity.I would think that an higher intensity would make you hungrier unless you are working out so hard you what to throw up .then personnally I wouldn't think that that would be a healthy way to go.I work out alot...I do interval max with no modifications and run for an hour to an hour and a half somedays..so intensity doesn't curve my hunger.It is probably just who we are....
 
My immediate hunger occured after doing Powerstrike for the first time. When doing Cathe or Christy it usually starts in about 40 - 60 mins. after. I guess you just work around it.

((Waiting for the day exercise curbs my appetite....))
