How young is too young?

I'm just wondering whether it would have any negative effects for a 16 year old to do Cathe's work outs regularly. My sister (16) has just finished Imax 3 and said she feels like she was going to die!! I know the feeling. ;-)

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks. :)

In my opinion 16 is definitely not too young and should not have any negative effects. Just start slowly and work your way up to more intense exercising. Trying to do too much too soon could result in injury.

I think it's excellent for a 16 year old to even be interested in working out!!

I don't think 16 is too young at all. Just think of all the kids in high school or middle school that are involved in sports. I recall having some pretty intense two hour practice sessions when I was in 7th or 8th grade (how old is that, around 14 maybe?).

And, I respond "exactly" to what Marietta already said.

Yup. I think it's fine. I remember track and cross country in high school. Some days were just WOW! I'm sure if anyone can handle it, a 16-year-old can :D.

I think the age factor comes into play with growing children and weight lifting. I think I remember around 12 to 13 is usually an age the middle school boys start working out safely. I'm sure 16 would be more than ok. I think just like any person she needs to work herself into it. Wish her lots of luck and I think its great when people start a healthy lifestyle young.
Best wishes and tell her to Enjoy!!!

I'm pretty sure 16 is fine for cardio. Weight training may be a whole nother thing. At that age, bones are still growing, and you have to be careful of injures. I'm no expert, but I know there are websites out there that can be useful.
