How to use circuit workouts?

Hi Everyone,

I know Cathe has been busy, so I thought I would post here! I am hoping someone can help me. I am curious about how to incorporate circuit workouts such as Boot Camp, HSC, etc into my workout routine? Can you do 2-3 of these workouts per week for weight workouts? I consider myself at an intermediate level right now. I would also be doing straight cardio 2-3 other days during a week. I have seriously been lacking in my workouts, but especially in my strength training for close to 9-10 months now. So, I guess I am clawing my way back into fitness and need some guidance. I have just about all of Cathe's workouts. My goals are to get back into ship-shape, lose about 15# of fat and get trim and toned. I do want to eventually build more muscle and strength, but feel the fat loss and toning up should be my first priority. I do understand that weight training is very important for fat loss, and I guess that is where my question about using circuits comes into play. How much weight training is enough to start with? I do love circuit workouts and find them to have enough variety to keep me interested which is important for me when I am trying to get back into workout out. Also, I know that cleaning up my diet is very critical and I will be the first to admit I also need to work on this big time! Help!!!! Thanks for any advice and thanks for listening! :)

wow! you read my mind! I'm exactly at the same point that you are...sort of! I LOVE to do circuit type workouts. I am also running for cardio right now. I want to lose about 8# and lean out. I realize that eating plays a big part as well.

right now, I'm enjoying tracie's workouts in between my running. Until I burn out on them, that's my main workouts. Eventually, I want to alternate cathe circuit WOs and tracie's w/ my running.

I'm thinking of doing this:
Sunday: rest
Monday: TLT's endurance for movement
Tuesday: run
Wednesday: cathe's bootcamp
Thursday: run
Friday: strenght tape..either Tracie's finding your core or cathe's MM
Saturday: long run

I hope this works for me!

take care:)

Hi Gloria,

Sounds like we are in a similar place huh? I am also just starting to get back into running! My idea for a rotation was quite similar to yours:

Mon: run
Tues: Cathe circuit
Wed: run
Thurs: Cathe ciruit
Fri: run
Sat: rest or another circuit? not sure

Maybe some others on here can give us some input? Good luck, Gloria!:)
