How to include circuits...or not?

Can circuits be included in the STS rotation either during the recovery week or the training weeks or would that impact the results?

With 3 cardio days and 3 weight days it would appear impossible to include since a circuit workout is neither a true cardio nor a true weight workout(and I gather you need at least one recovery day). It would seem that the only option is to include them during the recovery week. Is that a good idea? Any thoughts?

Help! This question has been consuming me!

I'd think a recovery week is a RECOVERY WEEK. No weights, just give those muscles some time to fully recover and grow, time for joints and tendons to recover and grow back stronger. So when you get to the next mesocycle, you're stronger and ready to work harder!

I'd say.. let's wait for Cathe's suggestions on what to do in between weight days and during the recovery week.

Since STS is a start-to-finish designed weight program, I'd think that doing circuit training would throw my body off the periodization effect. Wouldn't risk it...

My first impression, though, is that during the recovery week we could use Cathe's Stretch Max or Total Body Stretching DVDs.
Besides, the recovery week would make me look forward to the next mesocycle - I really feel I'm missing something even with one day per week off!!!!

How about doing cardio intervals during that week if ya need the fix? That's what I would do, and just not lift......

I will certainly do cardio between STS weeks, but I don't think I can completely give up my beloved circuits . . . However, for most circuits, I lift light--more for endurance than strength gains. I may try to work in a circuit and just lift light. Or I may do the cardio premix options for my favorite circuit workouts.
