How to get started?

As my user name indicates, I am new to Cathe, but definitely want to get in shape. I don't have any weight to lose, but I do need to tone and get moving. Where should I get started? Does Cathe have any videos that focus on proper form or a workout for beginners? One day I'll move up to the Kick, Punch and Lift A Bunch (joke), but I need to know where to start first. :)

Thanks in advance!

I recommended the Basic Step/Body Fusion and High Step Circuit DVDs Cathe created specifically for beginners. It's a great introduction to her step and weight workouts and she demonstrates proper form for each move.

After that, you might want to look at the Body Blast or Intensity Series. Body Blast has Supersets & Push Pull that are great for building muscle endurance. Intensity has the Pyramid Upper & Lower Body which really builds muscle. And of course, there's IMAX2 that everyone raves about.

Definitely take a look at the DVD descriptions and video clips on the home page. You'll find a lot of videos that are worth buying. Also, if you have access to FIT TV, record Cathe's program. It's a great way to preview her videos.

Hope that helps!

Hi CA Newbie! Welcome. You can actually do any of the strength training workouts as long as you select lighter weights while you are adapting to the workouts. Once you are familiar with a workout and you feel the weight you have is not challenging enough, it's time to move up in weight. The weight that you want to select (per exercise) is one that challenges you toward the last 3 or 4 reps of your set. By your last rep, your are really giving it your all to finish the set (with good form of course).

If you want total body workouts in one workout, you can choose from:

Maximum Intensity Strength
Power Hour
Muscle Endurance
Muscle Max

I also have Supersets and Push Pull but I would master the other tapes before going to these because they will incorporate a stability ball.

If you want tapes that are divided into split routines:

Pyramid Upper and Lower Body
The Gym Style Series
Pure Strength Series

I also have the Slow and Heavy Series but I wouldn't recommend that until after you have tried any of the other workouts.

Good Luck!
