How much protein??

I read conflicting info on how much protein you should be consuming to build lean muscle. I thought it was 1 gm per kg of body weight but other places I have read that that is too much. Thoughts???
 
Cathe posted in her blog on 8/14/11 under Fitness Tips, Nutrition on this very thing. It was titled Strength Training: What Role Does Protein Timing Play in Muscle Growth? That might help. She knows her stuff!

If you are actively lifting and training, that would be accurate, possibly more at 1.25 to 1.50. If you are not training, or just maintaining, etc., aim for .50 to .75.
