If I took a BodyPump class one day and the next day took a Firm AWT class would I be doing serious harm to myself? I'm really torn cuz I love them both!
I can tell you from "my" experience of Bodypump and doing AWT the next day, it caught up to me BIGTIME! The first 3-4 weeks were doable with no signs of overuse/overtraining, then BAM, my knee tracking was acting up. I agree with Janice and doing it "once" in awhile won't be harmful but I was doing it 3x a week, My body started to adapt to all of my training that I have been doing for my Bodypump certification (in Sept)and it let me know to CHILL out! I even stayed light for Bodypump (then used just my bar) didn't matter it was time to cut down, take a week off, and revamp my workload for the week! Bodypump is very addictive, effective and a very intense workout(especially when you are in tune with your own personal "proper" weight usage, not too easy not too hard weightload)If you are setting goals for yourself to up your weights eventually (as you progress)then I recommend not doing weights the next day, if you are using low weights just for a totalbody high rep -low weight workout, then you can use light weights (or hand weights for toning)the next day but "focus" more on the intensity of cardio! When doing Bodypump you work those shoulders and knees HARD-keep that in mind!Whatever you decide, do it in small doses and listen to your body! Have fun , enjoy your classes ,always go at your own pace , set your own goals and KNOW when to switch up your routine!
