So I am watching "How It's Made" on the Discovery channel. They just showed how a vinyl record is made...very cool. It got me thinking, what was your first record...or cd for you babies on the forum:p?

My first record was The Pointer Sisters. For some reason the record was orange. I remember being SOOOO jealous when my step-sister got Michael Jackson's Thriller album:eek:.

Carly Simon's first album. It was loaded with really excellent songwriting. I particularly recall a song called "Reunions" that was so mournful.

My 1st record that was MINE, and not my siblings was a Disney Mickey's Christmas Carol. It had the story on 1 side and carols on the other. It was really cool, because the vinyl was clear and there were pictures underneath. The back was a big Christmas wreath, and the front was all the characters, Mickey, Scrooge McDuck, Goofy, etc. My 1st CD was NKOTB Christmas CD.:eek::eek::eek:

Well, my Mom used to take me roller-skating all the time, and she bought me Blondie ("Parallel Lines"), ABBA ("Waterloo"), and (weirdly) the soundtrack from "Shaft" when I was like, 4, because I heard all of them at the roller rink. I still have them all, even though the turntable is long gone...

I've seen that episode!!

I got my first record when I was seven. It was called "Get Up and Boogie" and it was put out by K-Tel records...advertised on TV...I begged my Mom to get it for me. As you can guess, it was a disco compilation.

AC/DC's Dirty Deed's Done Dirt Cheap. I remember playing "Big Balls" on my Fisher Price turntable and my mom having a bit of a fit. Then I was off to figure what all the fuss was about sicne I thought they were talking about a dance.....

I'm pretty sure my first was the single of 'Little Woman" by Bobby Sherman (who was a teen idol, and an actor on the series "Here Come the Brides" along with David Soul and some dude who also played an alien who had a double in an alternate universe--a negative universe--on the original Star Trek).

If we're going back that far, I had some yellow! records that had various kids songs on : "Smokey the Bear" was one I remember :

"Smokey the Bear, Smokey the Bear, prowlin' and a growlin' and a sniffin' the air. He can spot a fire before it starts to flame, that's why they call him smokey, that's how he got his name".

Now how can I remember that after 45+ years, and I often can't remember where I parked my car at the end of the day?

Well, I was probably 5 years old and my first record was Disney's Cinderella and I think it was pink! I wore it out on my pink turn table...

when I got older and had my room upstairs... i remember laying on my bed listening to his record and stairing at the album cover crying over how CUTE Glen Campbell was... I don't admit that to too many people! Luckily I grew out of that phase!

I think it was Alvin & the Chipmunks! BUT, for my 7th birthday, my dad bought me Beatles '65 (yeah, do the math, I'm old as dirt.) I consider that my REAL first record...and it changed my life. Seriously.

My first KID'S album was Disney's greatest hits, which included, "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang".

My first teen 45 I think was "Seasons in The Sun".

My first album was Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, "Night Moves" (Classic, I still love it!).

I'm also impressed that you managed to actually spell Supercalifra;slkdgh;aoerihg;qoeirh!
