How is the weight loss going?

I think at my last Drs apt I weighed 174...which is a total of 45 lbs gained:eek:
Anyway, I didn't weigh myself until yesterday b/c my scale needed new batteries. I was surprised to see that I have already lost 22 lbs and he is only 5 days old. Im excited to get to the 140's b/c I know there won't be much after that.
Just wondering how everyone else is doing?
Lori:)

Wow Lori! Great news on the weight loss, you're way ahead of me:) I gained about 40 pounds and have lost about 11 pounds so far (not bad in a week)! I'm taking the slow and steady approach to weight loss so I'm hoping to lose about 35 more pounds in the next 6 months or so, seems reasonable.

I'm just focusing on doing kegels for these first two weeks, and then next week I'm going to start some gentle post natal exercises (from a couple of postnatal exercise dvd's I got for Christmas), and then resume regular exercise once I get the okay from my doctor at my 6 week check up.

Right now I'm trying to get as much rest as possible, so far things are going great, so in love with my new little man:)

Talk to you soon,

Stacey

So Ryan is 2 days older then Rylan? He is a week old today. I know what you mean about being in love! DH thinks he is attached to me as well. He was crying yesterday when DH had him up and of course he thought he was hungry...and I knew he wasn't. I took him from DH and he stopped crying. Of course its good for my ego but Im hoping he won't get to clingy later.
I think I will wait a little while to workout but I could start walking on the treadmill, atleast I would be doing something.
Anyway, congrats on your little man!
Lori:)

Hi ladies,

I gained a total of 38 pounds and so far I have lost 29 pounds. But even the nine pounds more won't get me there I was before I got pregnant. I gained about 10 pounds, just getting off the pill, so I need to loose about 20 more pounds, especially in my legs and butt ;-).

My little girl is 2 weeks today and I am being in love as well, who wouldn't be, little babies are so adorable!!!

I am not sure when I will be starting to workout again. I had some rough nights with my little one, the day before yesterday, I got to sleep 30 minutes in my bed and 1 hour in my recliner and the rest of the night she kept me up :( .

I know as soon as I get some rest I will be starting to work out again. I got one post workout I would like to do and walk on the treadmill to start with.

Lori - I looked at the pictures on your picture trail and your little guy is just adorable.

Hope you are all doing well
Kristine :)

Good job, Everyone!! I gained 39 pounds (twins) and I lost all of it one week pp...now, that is not saying I looked the way I did before the babies!!! ahhhhhhhhh
Slowly but surely, I am getting back into shape around my stomach, which I never thought would go back. So, no complaints...just wish it will go a bit faster. (I am almost 3 months pp)

But, I have to say that I feel so much more beautiful than I did before I had babies. I thought beauty were my abs and how I looked. Now, I feel so beautiful because of what my body went through and that it supported two lives at the same time. I just carry myself differently now. Being a mother is so beautiful.

Hi,
Sounds like everyone is well on their way to losing the weight, that's so great to hear. Jen, totally agree with you about feeling more beautiful after having kids, it is so transforming (in a good way).

I just posted this question to Cathe, but thought I'd ask it here too. Does anyone know if the abdominal exercises in Cathe's Basic Step and Low Impact Step dvd's are considered "safe" to do if you have diastasis recti?

I actually have two great postnatal dvd's that each address safe healing exercises for diastis recti. So, my plan is to start with those and hopefully close the gap a bunch, then try to move onto regular ab work (although I don't know if I'll ever mess with traditional crunches or twisting oblique work since I don't want to increase the gap).

Would love to hear your thoughts on this. I'm just guessing that the ab work must be "safe" to do if you've had diastis recti since Cathe had it after her kids.

Thanks!!
Stacey

Stacy, Im not sure what is considered safe. Im wondering if normal ab exercises are to early right now but I can't see it being a problem? I also thought about getting back into weight training before I can do cardio but getting off of my butt is a different story. He sleeps really well in the afternoon but I try to take a nap then as well. We will see how it goes, Im sure I will figure something out.

Im not sure who posted this but I can't beleive you only gained 39 lbs with twins! Thats awesome! I gained more then that with one.

Well, my FIL was here last night and he as this theory about breast feeding and so on. He thinks a baby can never get enough food b/c you can't tell how much they are getting. So today I weighed myself and then I weighed RYlan with me, and I was up almost 8 lbs which means he is back to his orginal weight and a little more besides.I have my DR apt on Wed so I wil find out forsure then.

Lori:)

Hi Lori,

Yeah, definitely going to wait to do "normal" ab exercises for a while, going to start with some ab exercises that target diastasis on my posnatal dvd's. These exercises really are for the transverse abdominus muscles and I'll probably splint my abs for a while until I can close the gap a bit.

I've now lost 18 pounds! Pretty excited about that:) Sounds like Rylan is eating well and gaining good weight, great news.

Have a good weekend.

Guess I'll start posting on the postpartum check out as I get back into some sort of workout routine in the next few weeks. For now, focusing on kegels and getting as much sleep as possible!
